Yup I'm still rocking the xv6900 too. Man I tell you I want to throw this thing through the wall almost everyday waiting for the Nexus or Incredible. Good thing about the xv6900 is that you can get a little taste of android with it for now. xda FTW!

hey... it's been a good phone. It's a bit slow now, but it does the job.. a few software upgrades and it's pretty good....for now. Later in the month, however, it gets replaced! :) :)

Ok guys take this for what it's worth:

My company also develops apps for Mobile phones so I decided to inquire about it with some of our developers here. It turns out we have it. I didn't get a chance to look at it physically as it's with one of our other employees at the moment. I asked if he knew about the RAM issue and he said that he recalled it had 256 RAM. After I told him that was a disappointment, he stated that is was no big deal as most of the testing phones he's worked with often came with lower RAM than what is actually released. So that made me feel a little better. And yes, the back is Fire Engine RED.

I'm glad you all thanked NiteRider for his "valuable contribution" but how do we know this guy isn't full of S and just posting for attention and "i'm in the know but I can't prove it because I can't get my hands on this supposed product that I claim to have access to."

I wouldn't get excited until someone proves the RAM increase with something concrete. Until then it is just hearsay.

I'd say a majority of the rumors (with exception to the pictures) are heresay, so take it for what its worth:)

Not all of them are hearsay. In fact i'd go so far as to say only a few of the rumors are hearsay. The 3.7" screen is certainly accurate, processor(thats obvious), camera will most def be 5MP as 5MP is the new standard and 8MP is still in its infancy for VZW phones. The red back will probably be ditched at launch in favor of a more neutral back however it may be offered as an accessory.

What i'd like to see is itunes synchronization, improved battery life(see my comparison below.

from 1030am until 940pm.

iphone 3g started at 100% - sent 3 texts the whole day, checked email twice, and maybe half a dozen times pressed the awake/sleep button just to see what time it was on the unlock screen. ended the day at 92% 3g is on, gps is off, wifi is off

droid eris started at 100% - never did a single thing with the phone, no text sending, no email checks, didn't even check the time. ended the day at 28% 3g is on, gps is off, wifi is off

anyone have an explanation? and don't tell me it is because of the size of the battery.

iphone 3g = 1150mah

droid eris = 1300mah

what the F! seriously if i get such terrible battery life with the incredible like i do with my droid eris i will definitely go back to at&t with my iphone. i even went so far as to buy a dock charger with a spot for a spare battery to charge and a spare battery for my eris. is it too much to ask that my phone last 1 day?

EDIT: before someone says its the programs, i have already read the FAQ and performed the operations in order to make my battery life much better however, i don't have to do all that garbage with my iphone so wtf?!

Who knows. I like the red back. It will keep people from insulting you by asking you if you have an Iphone since the back won't be black or white.

No, that's true....they won't mistake it for an iPhone.......a Fisher-Price phone, maybe....but not an iPhone. ;)

Actually...I'll be insulted when they ask what I'm doing with my teenage daughter's phone

The "red back" had better be either:

A) a prototype (test) phone. or

B) be offered in red OR black. or

C) have a replaceable black accessory back which can be bought cheaply

or they are going to have a lot of disgruntled customers (and lost sales).....

Well, like i said earlier, other than the pictures - and I'm assuming your 3.7 prediction is from that, because I haven't seen an announcement on the screensize from any of the companies involved. 5 Megapixels is heresay. Verizon has not announced anything nor has HTC, so unless you have a magic crystal ball that you can look into the future with - it is technically still "heresay." I'll roll with you on the processor, and the battery (since there was an official FCC filing) and the OS being android 2.x. Sure, there are heavily rumored specs, but again, most of it originated from heresay.

I'm with you on that one. Alot of people seem to like it, but there are equal amounts of people who feel disgusted by it.

You are more than welcome to spell hearsay as heresay if you see fit.

Now that we have acknowledged the large elephant in the room let us move on to the more important task at hand.

The reason the 3.7 is accurate is because HTC is using that size screen on too many phones to make a new one just for Verizon considering Verizon represents one of the smaller sales contracts they have due to the CDMA network. I will clarify this by saying they can make the same phone for multiple GSM carriers and just modify the firmware/software for each which makes it highly unlikely they will give Verizon a different(larger) screen just...because.

5MP is accurate because that is the trend with HTCs other phones and the Incredible will not be their biggest and baddest flagship device. That spot is reserved for the HD2, HD3, etc.

It can be "technically" anything you want to call it but lets just face the facts that we are getting a 3.7" screen and a 5MP camera, a 1Ghz processor, no red battery cover and a price point between $199-$249 with 2-year contract as Verizon would not shoot themselves in the foot with an AT&T move of $300-plus.

Verizon and HTC have to understand that the Incredible, when released, will already be obsolete as I guarantee you HTC has already begun developing faster and better phones. So the Incredible is just a stepping stone to the next best phone and the next best phone is a stepping stone to the one after that.

Release the Incredible, enjoy 6mos-1yr of good sales with it, then move onto the next best phone already Verizon/HTC.

You know what? I'm already over this phone! I mean, it's going to take lousy pictures (only 5 megapixels compared to 10.1 of most newer DSLR's!), it's only going to have a 3.7" screen compared to the iPad's 10" and the Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR9's 52" screen, it's only going to have an optical trackball as compared to the multi-touch trackpad on my MacBook Pro, OF COURSE it's going to have that DISGUSTING fire-engine red back as opposed to the uber-cool black that most phones sport (and chicks are ALREADY telling me they won't dig me if it has that), it will have ONLY ONE USB port when I've got an $8 USB 2.0 hub here that has 7 (I mean COME ON!), and worst of all, I've been told from industry insiders who have yet to see it that 3rd party accessory makers will be selling cases - CASES! - for it! Which can ONLY mean one thing: it gets too hot to the touch when using it - so it will probably burst into flame.

Yep...this phone sucks already.

What's next?

I find your "assumptions" to be more incredious than that guy you tried to call out earlier about the app deadline(and I'm in no way defending him or his rumor). But if youre going to call out someone, then you also have to realize where those other rumors came from. If I remember correct, the HTC Supersonic is rumored to have a 4.3" screen and probably a higher megapixel camera. All your logic is "well, thats the trend, so its going to happen," you have no source whatsoever and are just going by what you THINK. Do you think Apple just said to themselves: "looks like clamshell phones are the trend, everyones making 'em.. lets do the same" with their iPhone? Just cause a company did it a few times does not, by any means, force themselves to do it on all their products. You said it yourself, HTC is creating new things every day.. with a large budget, so what says they must do anything kosher and non-innovative.

Judging by your first line, I'd say this little bicker won't hold up to a MATURE conversation. Respond if you must - I won't counterargue. I'm just going to leave it at that (this will be my last post regarding this issue as I'm sure none of the members want to see a back-and-forth argument on this thread. I apologize for cluttering the thread but i felt that his original post was uncalled for).

Back to the topic for me. CTIA in T-minus 17 days!!!

Thats what the red is there for.. to warn you that it is a fire hazard;)

I don't know why you're getting upset. I wasn't attacking you. All I was trying to get across was that Verizon and HTC need to quit dicking around and release it already since we all know there are more badass phones coming out and this phone is merely par for the course at this point.

I don't even care about the Supersonic since it isn't on the carrier I use.

The Snapdragon has been in phones for over a year now and I hope I am not the only person a little miffed at Verizon for dangling Android over our heads then releasing the mediocre Droid Eris and the pretty good but not good enough Droid.

If Verizon is serious about taking market share away from the iPhone then they need to step up to the plate with some big guns soon and likewise Google, HTC, Motorola, etc. need to collaborate or do it themselves but someone needs to create an iPhone killer before Jobs outdoes himselv, yet again, in June.

I'm hoping I don't get flamed for this, as it it not specific to the Incredible, but I believe there's a little relevance here. After seeing the previous posts about an e-mail response from a VZW CSR regarding the Google Nexus One being sold and serviced in store, I went on the Nexus One site and started looking around. In regards to hardware repairs and support, the site claims that all phones are to be repaired by HTC, not Google. Is this a change since the original release? I thought Google was handling all aspects of the Nexus One. With this being the case, does it seem realistic to think that VZW will be allowed to service the phones as well? Or will the in store support simply be a matter of them flipping you to a refurbished model, while they take your broken one to be shipped to HTC for repair, after which it will go back into the refurb pool... Also, HTC isn't in the business of managing users phone data, so what do they do in the case of a phone swap? Ship the original to Google for data transfer? Just doesn't make sense to me - too many hands in the proverbial cookie jar. Not that I think any of the readers of this page are nasty ;), but like a previous post regarding collection of crap in the innards of a phone stated, I don't want to be carrying around someone else's filth, just my own :D. I think this lends itself to the belief the CSR was being indirect when referring to the new Google device, not the Google Nexus One explicitly. Regardless, just another reason I'm leaning to the Incredible.

Not sure if its changed, but I know recently, with the Nexus One screen-cracking, has been handled by HTC. I believe there was a post somewhere, where the person contacted Google in regards to the screen, and was redirected to HTC. I may be wrong on this, but if you were to go through HTC for other problems, they just directly repair the one you sent in. I think the people that were getting dust under their screens got back the same phone they shipped, which would eliminate the hassle of data transfer. Thats my take on it (I could be wayyyy off here..thats just what I got from periodically browsing the N1 forum)

So I am going to feel shameful if this has already been pointed out. But I found another case of a phone that HTC has in there current inventory that at one point was another color. This may ease some minds of the red back.
htc_legend.jpg

And we all remember the red back.
legend.jpg

Now how I understand it its gone to black.
htc-legend-1.jpg

Once again I am going to proclaim that I am new here and if I did not get this right I am sorry. But all I am trying to do is easy the minds of the few that think that red back is going to bomb the whole deal. But just in case FLAME ON!

Add this to the "believe it or not".

Was in local store in NW Indiana talking to my "guy" about switching over all our Blackberrys to Android type phones. In the conversation I asked him about the N1 and if it would be sold in stores. He paused as if he had to make a decision and said..."well I will tell you we have received an email about training and it appears in my opinion it will be sold in stores". He went on to say that if it wasn't, they would have never been told about the N1. He did also say, end of March and "winked".

Now by my post count you may think I am BS'ing you, however I plan on being a hardcore member here and have no reason to BS you. If you look over at crackberry, I am pretty "distinguished" and hope to become that here.

I know I know its all BS until we have official announcement but felt like I had to say this as someone else above has mentioned as well.

Sure he didn't mean something else....? JK JK :D

I dunno, mine gets bogged down whenever it does....anything. Get a few emails? Sloooow. MMS? Sloooow. App open? Sloooow. Text message thread gets a bit long? Slooooow.

The above should be a pretty good explanation of why I'm not too too picky about the final specs of the Incredible. I want a phone with Sense. No matter how you spin it, this will be VZW's best Sense overlaid phone. I'm not planning on changing carriers either. Makes my choice pretty simple, yes? Seriously though, how many other members are in the same boat as me? Crap phone, wants Sense, staying on VZW.

I think it was Tasha... The call came at 8:18 and the e-mail was sent 8:29. So she probably e-mailed me when I didn't answer...

How many years have you had Verizon service? I've emailed them but I got a form letter response. I've had VZW service since 1998 but I switched over to AT&T for the iPhone :o for a few months so I lost my years of service which is why I probably just get form letter responses now.
