Looks like a gel type of cover on it.. which would be weird for a store unit..

You can faintly make out the phone descriptor right below the unit and it looks like a standard VZW descriptor, also the security alarm is VZW as well. So either this is a seriously elaborate hoax by someone who managed to not only steal a VZW descriptor, but also a security dangle, or it's legit. I'm leaning towards the latter, this isn't the only story of a store unit having been updated, there was another in the DL comments about one being in the process of updating while the individual was in the store.

Well they COULD have taken one of the other photos posted, crop out the home keys at the bottom, and then load that into the photo viewer. That's how I'd do it if I were going to. lol. But I do feel fairly sure that this is all legit.
 
Amazing, looks like the Sprint version is getting their update in the next day or 2 to fix network issues. It took them a whole 10 days.
 
I flashed back to the 4.0.2 radios and stock recovery in anticipation....

Someone get this update online soon..... please.
 
I hope it's true... but if it was rolling out the file would be all over the place by now.

Verizon and Samsung both deny an update is being pushed....yes I know... grain of salt.

Yeah I'm leaning more and more towards this being shenanigans.

It usually takes a day or so for the update file to start hitting everywhere. Many of the people that get it in the beginning either don't think about locats or don't know how to pull the file to give it to a developer. Most just freak and hit the update button too soon.

I'm amazed that Papdroid had the presence of mind to take some screen shots. lol

Agreed, another store pic does lend some validity to this... hmmmm

As for the security placement, maybe they don't have an LTE repeater in that store and it's in a fringe 4G area? :D /me ducks
 
man how is it that all of these store units are popping up with it? lol maybe they consider that a safer soak test environment
 
I was in a VZW store yesterday and they had a Galaxy Nexus with that exact same case on it. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a planogram that every store (or certain types of stores) must have a Galaxy Nexus with that specific case on display.
