Root Who's used Koush's ROM?

WOW this thing is fast, with petes BB 0.6 I got 8.5 mflops in linpack while with this rom (no jit) I get over 12 mflops. This thing fliess!!!!!! I also get 303 ms on the long benchmark. amazing!

Hmmm, something ain't right in this weird place.

There is no joy in Mudville. I made a Nandroid backup, then formatted SYSTEM, DATA, AND CACHE, and then pushed the cyanogen ROM to SDCard as update.zip, ran update, it said it was done, then rebooted and *poof* - stuck at Moto logo.

Sigh. Always my !$%!$#%^!#% phone lol....

Let me see where I went wrong at....

LMAO John! You always get pulled into the "let me try this real quick"...meanwhile, 5 hrs later.... kinda stuff. I'm feeling for ya! Good luck!

How are you getting that speed? I'm at 8.5

It was my own damn fault - I apparently didn't mount the SDCard before adb pushing the ROM onto /SDCard - so, it did the normal update - of the file that was already there, namely, the ChevyNo1 10-slot 1200MHz kernel.

Of course it's not gonna boot, it has a kernel with no underlying OS!!!

At least I figured this out in like 5 minutes instead of the 5 hours like it used to take me lol...

Also, I learn from my mistakes - and am able to regurgitate said experience for others as well - so it is never a total lost cause with me :D

Umm, OK, wow, this is new.

I keep mounting my SDCard and it keeps dismounting immediately for whatever reason.....

This did not happen before. I bet my computer is being stupid. Already rebooted and battery-pulled the phone - time to check the computer.

Huh - well, SDCard is actually mounted when not in recovery, so I should be able to push the ROM over and try again....

Here goes nothing. I love this learning experience....

Wow, that was an experience. After 10 minutes of farking with it and talking to a friend who is a dev in Aussieland, all of a sudden all of my USB devices went stupid, then remounted - and now the damn SDCard is mounting again.

I really need to buy my eVGA X58 4X SLI mobo now and start using my Core i7 965 EE processor....lol.

Yeah, 5.0.4.1 has JIT enabled by default. It was fixed in the subsequent release.

ahh ok that might be it but still when I enabled JIT in BB it only hit 10 mflops as opposed to 12 mflops i get in this rom

I was just saying that it is part of it. I think I can say that at 1GHz, with JIT disabled...this is the fastest ROM I have tried to date :D

Same here...in the 8 MFLOP range, low 200's in short bench, and in the 600's for long bench. I think the best long benchmark I had ever ran prior to this was around 2000! WTF? 7 screens loaded and I am cruising along...very snappy!:D

2000 long? I average around 850 long, 230 short. Running Petes .7 with Chevys 1.2 kernel clocked @900.

OK, got it on - will probably put the JIT on there next. :D

Time to do some benching.....

And I sure wish this had a dark theme for the notification tab - I have gotten spoiled with the current ROMs out there....

See, one issue I have with those instructions is that if you added the Android SDK tools directory to your system PATH statement, you don't have to put the files in the tools directory - extract them anywhere, open a CMD prompt in the directory you extracted to / cd to that drive / directory and then run the commands....

In fact, I am making a batch file to do exactly that from the folder that I extract that file to.

Yeah looking that way

is it easy to switch to SPrecovery again if I desire?

Yeah, it is easy...Droidmod updater makes it really easy. I just initially wanted to avoid switching recoveries all the time to load new roms in different nandroid formats...oh well, if I must...I must ;)

Edit: Man, I need to use that damn refresh button so I don't answer questions that get answered 15 minutes earlier! :)
