Root Lg optimus v stuck in boot loop no recovery or emergency mode

Newbie
My lg optimus v is stuck in boot loop. I can't enter recovery or emergency mode. Tried installing a ROM using ROM manager and it got stuck in boot loop. How do I get it out? I have a mac so I don't know if you are suppose to do something different to get it back to normal on a mac or not.

Going to ask an admin/mod/guide to move your thread to the All Things Root forums where someone can better assist you.

In the meantime, don't do anything with your phone till someone can help ya.

Are you able to get adb to work? Also, are you sure e-mode isn't working? I'm pretty sure it's almost impossible to not have e-mode. Also, what happens when you turn the phone on? Does it just go straight to the lg splash? And when you try recovery? does it go to the lg splash or is there just a blank screen? more information, please.

There is a button combo than can be used when the normal combo doesn't work. I need to remember/find it. Will post when I do.

Volume down+back key+plug in USB?

Almost!

  1. Power off.
  2. Plug in the USB cable and wait for the charging screen to come on.
  3. Hold the Back Button, Volume Down Button, and the Power Button at the same time.
  4. Let go of all the buttons when you first see the LG logo.

That's the normal way.
The one I had to use with my first brick because the normal way didn't work required me to first let the battery get totally dead. Then push back + camera (or home, can't remember) + volume down and while plugging in CHARGER hit the power. Takes a few tries to get the timing and dexterity down. Then once in E mode plug into PC.
That's the one I was talking about. This worked when the normal way didn't.
Just can't remember which extra/fourth button to push. It takes three hands to accomplished.
As soon as I get caught up with my guide duties (way behind because PC is down) I'll Google it.

I kinda figured you had a second way of doing it. From what you just said, it seems like I just recently read a post where someone did what you described.... using their feet to help get it right lol. Wish I could remember where I saw that post!

On the OM it is the camera button...I'm not gonna get 3 people to help me figure out if it is on the OV....

It goes to white lg logo. Red lg logo. Then android logo and it shines a little bit and freezes.

well pull your battery, then press power, volume down, then the home button untill you boot to a black screen. then download android screencast or droid@screen. Then you should be able to access the options on the recovery using your computer to see what your doing. You can then flash a new rom. After you flash the new rom you can then fix the black recovery.

That's not a boot loop. Do you have adb on your mac?

I have the adb. Tried following a video on youtube to do it but my device doesn't show up as connected.

You could use virtual box and setup a windows environment, or go to a local library with windows computers and download the usb drivers and do the above.

Can't get google play on it. The select button for clockwork mod recovery doesn't work. Tried everything. The volume down does up and the camera goes Down. But I can't select. Trying to instal gaaps from .zip. I made a backup of this rom and it said select button now on. And I could select then. But I can't select now? The stock recovery has a black screen and clockwork mod has no select button. Is there another custom recovery I can use?

You probably installed the wrong cwm.....make sure its made for optimus v and not m or c

On ROM Manager the only device to choose from was Lg Optimus C. How do I get the V?
Don't use ROM Manager on the Optimus V.... -_- this causes people to make posts like "Help! my custom recovery won't boot, it just shows a black screen".....

Get Flash Image GUI, Google
Get Cannibal Recovery from AC here: [RECOVERY] Cannibal Open Touch v1.2 (latest update: 06/24/2012) - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com (I think it's the best ever)
Get a ROM, there are multiple ones....I would start with BACKside as your first, but you can try others once you get the idea of what you're doing...

Once you download those 3 things, I will tell you what to do next.
