Root [BOOST]Official Firmware(CAUTION)

This is the official firmware download from LG that i received when using my meid. It is a .cab file and not a kdz.

However, I tried to convert it to kdz by using UpTestEx_mod2_marwin and was able to convert it kdz.

When trying to flash it with kdz I get a load library error. It does decrypt and extract. Im not sure whats causing it to hang.

So a no go on this for me. i keep re-downloading the cab file and compare md5 sums and have found that some do not download correctly, others may want to try the same.


Oh, and to get into s/w mode you need to take out your batt and sdcard, then hold volume up, camera, power, and back button, while plugging in your usb. Sounds tough but u can do it. Afterwards you can re-insert your batt

I've not heard of a kdz file b4 but have used a .tot with LGNPST, but think its setup to use .bin. so the same trick of entering *.* + enter in the file field so you can select any extension should work with the .cab. BUt LGNPST is the LG app used. Also on the Esteem and Revolution a .dll was needed to be able to run the tot too.

its not working with a cab. says bin(tot) only. I cant seem to find the bin for this phone and i cant extract anything from the cab, idk if its corrupt or what

What happens if you use lgnpst and run it as an update? Also the last digits are usually the prl and this ones digits are 61007 which is the virgin mobile prl?????

It's not working because it's missing the dll file inside. I was able to extract the wdb and wdh but that really won't help anything. I'm wondering how you can put a dll inside of there. If so then we might be able to put the sprint dll in there

Can you post the ignite dll? Also good to know virgin mobile and boost are using the same prl. You might wanna check out this thread here. I'm gonna try out the new prl and will post results. Also ran the cab file through the updater and surprise no go missing dll
 
might sound like a noobish thing to ask but is that how i could get the stock boost rom for this phone back to the way it was when i took it out the box? marky beats is exceptionaly fast but no way to go back to completely stock?
 
With a nandroid backup you should have made before flashing any custom rom. Always the first step before flashing roms
 
Sorry to revive an old thread, but has anybody got the cab working with KP500???
I think I can fix it. Need more info on what people have been able to do with this.
 
Anyone want to test my method of flashing this? Post in this thread. I think I can get it to flash. I have done something similar to the optimus V.

I can tomorrow. I'm out of town on work, so I need my phone operational. So if no one else does I will definitely help you out. What firmware will this do if it works?

If it works, you'll be running boost firmware instead of sprint firmware (unless you have the boost phone verion). I'm rewriting the PM, originally it was written for someone who would kind of know what he's doing...

I saw there is already a guide that was put up to revert to sprint stock firmware if needed. The boost firmware is borked, but I have fixed firmware like this before.
 
I'm wondering if anywhere there is cdma firmware with an unlocked bootloader or rather bootloader access.
