someone kill me.
he didn't say this all was fact. no need to have a heart attack yet. he said everything around there is speculation regarding the incredible. but hey for the ppl who want (or will settle for) nexus ones should be seeing something very soon since he did have is training on it today. the rest of the stuff was just rumors and he made it very clear that what he told me wasn't set in stone by any means. but just so you know... the rumblings of a possible total revamp for LTE is in the air internally.

i'm still hoping for the best. been reading every post in this thread for the past month, losing probably 5-6 hours a day on it. my boss wouldn't be happy if he knew...

LOL... well, here in SLC I have to begrudgingly admit that AT&T has picked up a bit and seems to be comparable to VZW.

And as for everyone calling in to VZW stores, here's a thought.

Since MM said his friends HTC rep kept referring to the "6300 box" perhaps when you call in you can also bring up reference to the HTC 6300 instead of just the Incredible? Just a thought as to how you might be able to milk more info.
Actually, it might be better to refer to it as the ADR6300 cause that's rumored to be it's full item number.

How about Erised? Desire backwards and will satisfy Harry Potter fans across the country.

I think you're very close...but not quite there yet. Perhaps one letter off? Seriously, it seems that there was just way too much evidence pointing at a release sooner rather than later...especially when you consider the competition...but what if this phone, as one local rep put it, releases 6 - 8 months from now? A little late to the party if that happens! Now... i'm not saying i believe this...but after all that has been said...this phone better release by May....or all bets are off. Everyone here now will be totall:eek:y mental by then!

So, I've been reading this forum for a while and decided I'd chime in today with some info passed along from a good friend who is a manager at a vzw direct store in ny metro area. I just stopped by to visit on his break and asked about the Incredible and Nexus One. He looked somewhat surprised at my asking and said that coincidentally he just finished up a training seminar for the N1 (and Skype Mobile). However, he said some weird stuff regarding the Incredible... The jist of the conversation is below:

Me: so man, totally random, but have you heard any news about a new htc phone called the incredible? or even the nexus one? i'm due for an upgrade soon and figured i'd give you some business

Him: i've heard of them both but they haven't told us any firm release dates. but i really think that the nexus one will hit sooner, possibly sometime this coming month [april]. we started hearing lots of stuff about the incredible over a month ago and then everything died down. the latest i heard is that they might be trying to re-work it with lte and that is why it's fallen off the radar on the retail end. apparently with all the new infrastructure they're working on they want a nice flagship phone to compete with that new sprint one and felt that the best representation was what they had going already with the incredible.

Me: oh shit wow, so maybe some big changes coming?

Him: yeah, their main goal is to push skype video by the end of the year. right now it's just calls, but what they're really going for is 4g video conferencing. i mean, this part is all just rumors and speculation, but even if this crap doesn't pan out, i don't see the incredible coming out in it's current form until at least may. i usually get training for phones about 2-4 weeks before a phone is released. thats why i really think the n1 will be out way sooner since we had that shit goin on today for it.

Now guys, I don't know if what he is saying will hold, and neither does he. he was just saying that based on what he's heard he is way more pessimistic than our group as a whole ;) Him and me both are hoping he isn't right and we get an incredible phone soon, but I just figured i'd provide his insight...

Actually, I liked every bit of his rumor! 4g +1, vid conferencing on 4g +1, forward facing camera to support vid conferencing +1. Draw back is having to wait longer, but I am totally ok with that, if it means getting something comparable to the Evo, but on Verizon.

Good post!

Well, if Verizon waits till a month before the EVO to launch the Incredible, it won't be as good for them as to launching it NOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

I want my new phone now.. I don't want to wait until next year or however long they wanna make me wait.

Again,.... somebody kill me.

Your friend knows very little about how phones work if he thinks they are "reworking" it for LTE. LTE is going to require a much larger battery (source: college LTE labs) & re-certification through the FCC. The design would have to change and thus also change the code name making it an entirely different phone. Verizon isn't stupid enough to push LTE until they get the battery tech to support it.

not working

works for me. it's the ADR6300's wifi certification

EDIT: if it's legit, it confirms no Wireless N

just fyi... no adr6300vw's (incredible) on this weeks shipping log for friday.. a shit ton of adr6200's (eris's)

And you probably just pointed out the most likely reason Verizon hasn't announced the Incredible yet. They screwed the pooch and banked on the Droid and Eris being Android players for longer than they were (they got overshadowed by the N1 shortly after release) and now are stuck with a ton of them on hand and have no choice but to unload them.

someone kill me.

Hey Steven, did you read Nash's post with MM's info? If the store in Montana really has a box with Incredible info and/or dummy phone, I highly doubt there's any truth to the LTE thing. The phone is already through FCC and NKT has seen it on warehouse logs and new databases (see his screen cap from today). Plus, Anon's sources at CTIA told him that the announcement may have been eff'd up, but that the release is still on track as scheduled.

I'm sure that by the time they launch LTE handsets, Incredible will be old news.

Plus, if someone kills you, who will be around to keep us entertained? :D

Keep the faith man, I'm sure we'll see this phone during the second half of April.

Here's a question...while we're all sitting around gnashing on our own flesh....and I realize I could get rolled for this....but here it goes...deep breath. For those of you that are out of contract....would it be the end of the world to use Sprint for awhile if Verizon doesn't come through with a cool phone before the EVO hits? That's my current plan. I figure...what the heck...already on Sprint...in a 4G area...and the phone and WiMax may really rock. And...like I posted before...Sprints 3G is supposed to be pretty darned good...and in the fine print they actually contract with Verizon (or so I read in an article) to have 3G coverage via Verizon in non Sprint areas? I realize there are big fans of Verizon here...and I believe that is well deserved on their part...but Sprint is trying to keep customers...and people in WiMax areas should be a little bit hesitant to just walk by without considering the EVO...yes? And once again...I know I'm gonna get it for this...but I've been waiting like the rest of you...and just wonder if others feel the way I do. Would this not be a great plan? Like Kyle said...then after a year or two you could re-evaluate Verizon/Sprint and their phones and service. Okay...bring it! :p

Re-working the incredible to be LTE 4G ready is a step backward for Verizon.

I'm still trying to figure out if they know how to walk a straight line yet.

The QSD8650 chipset in Evo 4G supports all networks, GSM/EDGE/HSPA/CDMA Rev 0/A/B. Sprint Evo4 Chipset, QSD8650, Supports GSM and HSPA | These are the Droids Why wouldn't they utilize that?

Just saw this on my twitter page. Hmmmm extremely interesting anyone?? Evo chipset supports all carriers pretty much?
Technically so would the Incredible or any phone with the 1Ghz Snapdragon processor but the EVO will only work with CDMA and 3G/4G and the Incredible will be the same minus the 4G, why they don't make these phones "world phones" that's a good question.

My guess is they want it tied down to their network and only their network and without sim cards I don't think there's a workaround to get them to use the other bands.

Thank you very much. I was truly getting "emo."

I am sure the verizon reps aren't rocket scientists, as a general rule of thumb. At least the friend was willing to answer questions and talk about the rumors he heard. We like that.

There were rumors about 90 pages back about a leak saying the INC had a 4.3" screen... maybe this is the latest truth?

Agreed! Not to mention that they would literally have to scrap this phone, re-design it, re-test it, and put it through FCC again. By that time, they might as well have released the Incredible, and then built an LTE successor to that.
