I had an LTEvo and data quit working so Sprint was nice enough to replace it. But this new LTEvo is 32% slower and downloads are 64% slower. I've tried everything to try to fix this new phone. Sprint tried remote repartitioning (whatever that is) and that was supposed to fix it for sure. But still no luck. Soooo.....

That's too close to committing insurance fraud for us to allow the discussion.

Sorry, I understand your frustration, but rules are rules, and it is what it is.

Have you had a local Sprint repair center in a corporate store do an RF test to see if that's the problem?

Tried GSam battery monitor to see if there's some rogue process hounding you stealing cycles?

there probably is, but um...this sounds like bad idea jeans to me. do you live in an area where they are upgrading to lte? because that will have a significant impact on your data speeds while they fiddle with the towers.

are you sure it's just your phone? maybe take it in to the store and run a side by side speed test with another phone.

did you root again? if you are running a custom rom it may just be that the new phone hardware doesn't play nice with some tweak or another.

basically in my opinion trying to intentionally break your device sounds like your doing yourself and sprint and htc a disservice...

eta. and early agrees. hurray for leaving a window open forever before responding

Oops, sorry Early, I had no intention of breaking any rules. I won't entertain any further discussion on intentional bricking.

So to answer all other questions:

No, we're not getting LTE. I wouldn't doubt if we never get LTE, I live in the middle of nowhere. But my downloads go slower at home than with my old phone. Same setup (and different ones) left me with download speeds of 2.4Mbps on the old LTEvo and 0.3Mbps on the new one. Drastically huge difference. With Wifi even the speeds only get up to 0.4Mbps.

My subjective feel caused me to run quadrant score tests and speed tests and they both backed me up. This new LTEvo runs objectively slower.

I did root again. None of the 7 ROMs I've tried have improved performance. Not even MeanROM, which is what always performed admirably on the old LTEvo.

I haven't done this. I'll have to try it. I was really hoping to avoid going to the Sprint store since the closest one is 21 miles away, but I'll try anything to fix this phone.

I tried this, but nothing seemed to be running that I didn't want to. And I got the same speed test results and quadrant score results with only the app needed for the test running.

This phone is driving me up a wall. I miss my old LTEvo.

Is the back cover on the phone well? I have noticed that it seems to have the antenna on it and wonder if it is making good connection with the phone when you put it on.

also, I would try calling sprint and keep on asking to talk to someone until you get someone who understands and appreciates your situation. the reason I say that is there have been a few times where I got things worked out with them on the phone and they put it in the records and when I went to the Sprint store, it was just a matter of handing over the broken phone and coming back in the next day for a replacement.

Maybe they can fix it in the store, but, I would hate to see you get one that you can't get s-off on, though I guess you can still flash roms and stuff with what is available now.

Good luck!

Don't wanna thread jack ...

Quick Question:
If I bought my phone from Best Buy, could I get a RF test at Sprint repair center or at a corporate store?

First Forgive me early on speaking on the subject :)

I feel that intentionally bricking your phone is just as bad as unrooting it when there is an error and panic takes over. Sprint tecn's are not always noted for thier brilliance. You should always start here IMHO. Guys and Gals in here are some of the brightest I have ever run across.

John Lennon once said there are no problems only solutions. We must make this our motto when we run into a situation that calls for a solution.

I realize I'm late to the party, but why do you feel like you even need to brick it? I am assuming it's because you want another replacement, but if the new one is performing that poorly, just go back to sprint and ask for one. I did it a couple of times with my photon.

I wanted to brick it to make the replacement process as painless as possible. Last time was a nightmare. But EM said the discussion would be too close to insurance fraud so the talks were halted. As they should have been.

But on a side note, my phone did indeed brick itself randomly today while I was playing with Google Now. So I'm getting a new one in the end.
