So do I just keep trying it over and over, and if so how many times before I give up and just assume I stay at my current state?

Could it be because I cant get the phone out of USB file sharing mode when I am performing the CID commands?
When I open my pull down menu I have 2 options, the first is USB Connected..when I tap that it brings me to the "Sprint Hotspot & tethering menu. The second is USB File sharing...when I tap that it pops up a menu that says "USB connection type" my only options there are HTC Sync Manager (Which is what is currently selected) and Disk Drive.
Sync manager (aka media sync) is fine - that's required so that you can adb shell and get around properly while on Jellybean. (That was an HTC change, not a Viper4G thing.)
We can help with the mechanics of getting your environment set up (that's done) and the basics of entering commands (you got that down) - for the right help with what's really up, you're just going to have to go talk to them on irc.
The web experience is pretty easy.
Just tell them where you are, not the whole history - be prepared ahead of time with: rom version, baseband version, hboot version, TWRP version, that you have adb and fastboot working, and that according to getvar cid, supercid is not sticking even though dd is showing 8+0 records (8 bytes) out.
See what they say.

Okie dokie...I have never used IRC so I will have to do some research on that first, but I guess I will keep you guys posted as to what happens.
It's not all cryptic like the old days.
Click that link, you get a webpage asking you to choose a nickname - use the one you use here, login. You don't need to create special accounts, etc etc.
Lurk a little bit, in case they're helping someone else.
If they have courtesy rules, that will show up after you log in. Some teams don't want you to ask "Can anyone help me?" - they just want the question.
Point is to take little time, keep it simple.
Where they want your info, you'll have that prepared - just copy/paste the list I gave you above with your details, and ask, How do I proceed?
Wait after each answer a few seconds in case other team members want to chime in on the question.
If they ask - have you tried steps after that? Say no, because another guy did on a forum, it didn't work for him without supercid sticking, you've been having trouble flashing and recovering and you just want to hear from them the right way.
It's just like posting - only faster.
If no one answers - lurk for 15 minutes, they could be at work.

Okay sounds good! I will need to gather all my info and answers to possible questions asked and then later on today I will log in there and see if we cant get this figured out!
LoL - and also have HTC EVO 4G LTE at the top of your list of info - I forgot to mention that, they support many devices.

Okay, sounds good.
If I am correct wouldn't BabyRacun not work for me since I am on 3.16 and the RUU they supply is 3.15, you can't downgrade...correct? Also I have downloaded the BabyRacun zip...but there is only one file inside and I'm not sure if that is correct, plus I am having trouble finding the "RabiesShot.exe" download on their page.

The fastboot one they supply works. Im not sure what the magic is, but go with it

Hmmm...I think I am getting more brave and might be ready to give this a try since I don't have to deal with Ubuntu.
Now as for the BabyRacun zip file...should there only be one file inside?
And I think I located the RabiesShot zip at the top right of the page titled "Windows DirtyRacun"...am I correct that all I need out of that zip file is the "RabiesShot.exe" file extracted to my Android folder in C:/ and not the whole zip folder?

Those both look correct.
You MAY still have to deal with ubuntu if the device "bricks". Thats the only way out.
Mine bricked on the first go, unbricked it right away in ubuntu and then the 2nd time it went through without an issue

Ahh...and that's what stops me in my tracks! I have had a hell of a time getting Ubuntu to work on my PC.

Have you tried the Live CD?
It's been a while since your last thread, I can't remember anymore.
You have a good grasp of the terminal commands and how it operates. Ubuntu terminal doesn't need the Mini-SDK to operate for phone ADB. It's part of the OS natively.
This simplifies things a little.Let us know if you want to take another crack at setting it up. Also, don't let the "brick" possibility scare you. It's really easy to fix if you have Ubuntu set up.

Hey All new to these forums. I have a question... I am currently S-ON with the latest firmware and 3.16, I want to flash the 3.15 RUU because I am sending my phone back to Sprint but understand I cannot because I am on 3.16. If i am reading this correctly I can flash the MiscTool that sets the main version low which will make my phone think it is on 3.15 so I can flash the 3.15 RUU correct? I tried the new FacePalm S-OFF method and kept getting an error code 99 and the team told me to check out BabyRacun but the way im reading it wont this tool give the same result as BabyRacun? Any help thanks!

well just an fyi sprint really does not care if you are rooted, unless the issue is caused by a bad flash.
and yes you can't flash a ruu because you are s-on. you can flash a stock rom and you should be fine......but that is up to you.
not sure on which misc tool you are talking about. do you have a link?

well you can always flash a stock rom and then relock the bootloader.

I was told if I relock the bootloader with custom recovery I will be stuck in a bootloop. How do I get rid of the HTC red letters splash screen?
you should be fine by re-locking the bootloader with a custom recovery. i never heard of that. if you re-lock the bootloader i believe that it will go away.
but that is not to disway you on getting s-off though. we can still help you with that, if that is what you wish as well.
