us galaxy s3 will get no key lime pie

It has been speculated not that long ago, that the S3 will get Key Lime Pie (Android 5 not 4.2 as mentioned, thats still Jelly Bean)

On Android Phone there was an article claiming to have data relating to the note 2, S3, S4 all getting KLP from Q3 onwards this year, and the likes of the S2 getting 4.2.2 which, would in effect, complete near enough two years of firmware support for the S2 as funky was saying.

Pappy sure hopes Xpolisiv is rite... I lik butter, but Pappy preferrs mustard on my biskits. Umhum...

Anywho, while I would like to see 5.0 on our device, 4.1.2 will hold me over for some time to come. Although there ARE some features I'd like to have on our US variant (S4) - BUT, it's not the end of the world.
Until then, yes - it would be nice if we at least had a stable version of AOSP 4.2... but that's another story. (intended to frighten children at bedtime, from what I gather)

So... how 'bout dem Bears? Crazy season last year, huh?

right now key lime pie is only officially announced for release for that new motorola/google X phone or whatever...everything else around KLP is probably an early rumor

Version number hasn't been confirmed, but most are expecting 5.0 from sightings from server logs

Name hasn't really been confirmed either, a Googler painted an image last year of an android eating key lime pie and that's where the "confirmation" came from. Once again, probably going to be true, but hasn't really been confirmed.

Hasn't been much leaked in the name of features. I'm expecting a UI overhaul in line with all of the Google apps using the gnow card style look.

As far as moto x, I wouldn't expect that to come out till after klp. When Google bought moto hwy had 18 months of moto phones to get out of the pipeline. That lines up with late this year

Im putting my bets on the new nexus tablets making the debut of it

nexus 7 needs a refresh and will prolly have it, nexus 5 will be nov timeframe.

I look forward to seeing a new N7 type Nexus tab :) think Asus will make it again?
And a new UI, do u think we'll see that on the s3 once sammy have their way with it?

Lol Pappy youre dafter than me mate :) (in a good way)

Och Aye, A'm just after being tae the doctor's! lol
:p

Without taking up a HUGE paragraph or two listing the names of the AMAZING Devs we have working on the SGS3 - (you KNOW who you are. ;) ), we WILL have certain aspects of whatever-new version of Android there is at the time, to supplement our Samsung devices... based on it's popularity around the world, it just can't happen any other way.

However - I WOULD like mine better if it would tell me how awesome I am @ 3:45pm every day. Just say'n...

It'll depend on what Samsung plans to do with Touchwiz. Historically, it hasn't been very close to stock android.

Can someone tell me what features in Key Lime Pie that is not in Jellybean that people are upset about not getting, other than that the name doesn't start with 'K'?

As long as I like my phone the way it is, someone else having something better doesn't make my phone suck. I was running GB on my Desire Z and was perfectly happy even with the existence of ICS devices. The only reason I got a SGS3 lasts July was that my battery died and I was eligible for an update at that time. I was originally planning to keep my GB phone until around now.

Even when JB came out, I was still on ICS for a couple of weeks as I had no issues with ICS. My friend managed to convince me to upgrade to JB. I am very happy with JB, but felt I could live without it. If KLP comes out tomorrow, I would still be very happy with my phone running JB.

Yeah i suppose its down to how you look at it mate. Ive heard it said that you should buy a phone that youre happy with based on the firmware its shipped with and i do agree with that but im maybe a glass-half-empty typa dude lol i always want the latest thing and this is the 1st flagship android ive ever owned, i usualy have cheap things so i wana make the most of it.
having said that, i could have a 4.2 rom justnow if i wanted but i dont really.
I always watch the Google IO n it gets me excited about new android versions. I really wanted JB but as i said, it was and is a bit of a let down because google Now doesnt function how it should for me

Regarding what to expect from 5.0 i dont think google spent so much time on an os just to leave it plain. im not sure how many time more google can re-invent the wheel on their android platform i mean lets say google was here asking us for ideas what would be some ideas on what features ya would love to have on a new os? i really cant think about anything that hasn't been done yet..... all that comes to mind is a shiny new ui but that wouldn't be enough to quench our thirst... not in a long shot. i mean i got some small suggestions for some of their gapps and such but nothing huge. anyways what features/functions would ya like to see on this next android release that hasn't been done yet? im really curious to hear some ya ideas.

Though it has been done by other OEMs, I would really like to see multi-window build into AOSP. While it may not be that useful on phones, it would be useful on tablets. Therefore if it's in AOSP, then any tablet that runs 5.0+ would hypothetically be able to use it.

I could find uses for that on a phone. But only if it supports most/all apps, not just one manufacturer's applications (and that would include not just Google

Well I did have a neat idea for our phones but not sure if they would consider it. Anyways check it out ya know on jellybean one of the newest features was block mode / call blocker so what if to those on your block list were to call u they would hear a automated voice messages saying that the number they called is no longer in service just like on Google voice when u block a number. That would be so useful when it comes to telemarketers and other unwanted callers. Telemarketers would end up erasing your number from the calling list.

Off-topic, but I did once get rid of a very persistent junk-mailer by writing "Deceased, return to sender" on the envelope and putting it back in the post to them ;)

im more of a fan of annoying them. i use the pre-approved envelopes and mail them back anything but what they were looking for. whether its more junk mail, coupons, letters to them (stupid things like hey, how are you? i am _______ ) ive gotten a few to stop by that way since they have to ship the stuff to me and then get charged for it going back too. most people tend to ignore them so they only have to pay once :P
