I accidentally left my participle dangling and everybody saw it. I'm so mad I could punctuate someone.I probably just need to comma down.

What is it that Thanksgiving thanks?
I got taught it was thanking the american natives for "giving" their country to the settlers?? Please tell me that was just bad teaching in a bitter irish catholic school.....? I honestly dont know :confused:

It is giving thanks for your blessings like food, shelter, and friends. It was originally a joint feast between the native Americans and the Pilgrims after the native Americans taught them how to cultivate corn, hunt and fish, and basically prepare for and survive the harsh New England winter. It was essentally a harvest festival.

Is that how its taught to children in school and do american natives celebrate it?
Sounds a bit fishy to me lol but i honestly know little about north or south american history. Think the cynic in me just thinks "that cant be really true" :beer:

That's the 50 words or less version. Remember, you are talking the 1600's version of the feast too. The Pilgrims were essentially refuges in a foreign land, not conquerors, so my summary pretty much sums up the origins of the holiday.

The complete history of the United States, Thanksgiving, and the Monroe Doctrine is better served in a whole different area of the forum.;)

Our black kitty Missy is 13.5 years old and suffering from dementia. Especially like now, in the evening, when it's dark. She's restlessly walking around the house, meowing, scared by lights, with huge round eyes, chasing shadows. The only way to calm her is to pick her up, and hold her. Cuddling, and stroking in a slowering pace. She is so sweet. She allows me everything. I covered her eyes, her entire face with my hand, and she licks every spot of my hand, holding my arm close to her with both paws around it. Saying 'you take care of me, and I take care of you.' Heck, I could paint her toe nails, if I wished so. I think we're friends :p:D

Two books, 1491 and 1493 are probably the most accurate for the early history of the Americas.

Also, How Columbus Changed the Way We Eat outlines the many foods that migrated from the Americas to the rest of the world. Something I found interesting, anyway.

OMG its sooo pretty outside c;

He skipped town from Detroit? Who could blame him?:p

He could just be holed up in one of those abandoned houses. They'd never find him.;)
