Malaysia Airlines tragedies

Well, I still haven't seen any sign of the plane yet. Guess I'll have to widen my search to the entire Las Vegas valley.

It's been what, 2 and half months now?

Yep, with about half of it wasted by searching further north, based on nonsense reports from the Malaysian government.

I guess they are going to release all of the satellite data to the public soon. Be careful not to get run over by the crackpots as they come out of the woodwork.

Turning off the transponders doesn't make the plane invisible to military radar. But military radar cover is far from perfect in that region (and the various militaries were probably reluctant to give information about how (in)complete their coverage is).

I'm giving them 10-15 days. If they find absolutely nothing then...

i was right, aliens.

but on a serious note, this is crazy. the year is 2014 and we lost a plane like wtf. I'm pretty sure they even stopped looking for the plane wreckage now right? last time I caught up with this they were scanning the ocean floor for the black box with some high tech unmanned submarine. Black box is now dead and so is any chance of being closer to finding it. heard on the news families of the victims were trying to get some donations in so that they could hire a private company to use sub's to try and find the wreckage. I know the ocean is a huge place and its now even bigger to me since I took marince science this year but do we even idea of where this plane went down? I'm guessing not since apparently we searched and found nothing. This entire thing just amazes me, so many wrongs were done the day that plane went MIA.

I'm sort of confused as to why we are back to this storyline. Wasn't this the (conspiracy) theory a week after it disappeared?

Funny you should say that...

There was a programme in the BBC 'Horizon' science series (Where is Flight MH370?) devoted to this recently, which concentrated on known facts and included extensive contributions from the Immarsat boffins who did the ground-breaking analysis of the ACARS 'ping' data to narrow down the search area. After several refinements and recalculations they even managed to suggest a 'hot spot' of a few hundred square miles within which was considered to be the most likely point of impact.

As of time of broadcast this area had never been searched.

Meh, I say we pack it in and accept that they're dead. If it's the result of a systematic flaw with the 777 and not an isolated incident, maybe the next one will go down in an easier to find location and we can find the problem.
