gobluejd, how is the adhesive on the back of the Tetrax in comparison to the M2? My M2 button doesn't want to stick:mad:

Like I said I shook like it was hot. I mean real hard as I was standing over mucho foam. I have it installed on the VZW Gel Case.

I can not say what it would do on the naked DINC. I just followed directions on both M2 and Tetrax and have no issues what so ever. When I took the M2 disk off the back of the Gel case, it was actually pretty tough (had to wedge a plastic putty knife between surfaces).

We have a bunch of shipping foam here at work, I attached phone to the XWAY and literally shook as hard as I could OVER the foam, and it did not come off. When taking off the mount, you slide to left or right, comes off.

I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!!!!!

Glad you love the XWAY. After seeing your pictures of the holder being placed on the corner of the vent, I'm thinking with some luck (fingers crossed) this will work in my car as well. I placed the order myself just now so hopefully everything will work out. :)

BTW, which disc did you use with your silicone case? I know the package comes with 4 different ones but I have not seen anything stating which will work best with smartphones. Thanks

Hey goblue, I have a crazy question for you. Is there an easy way to permanently mount the XWAY onto the M2? I have to admit I'm smitten with the looks of that unit and the simplicity of not having to align the disc into the M2. But I don't want to mount it in my vent, so I was thinking about gluing the M2 disc to the back of the XWAY mount to give me the best of both worlds. I don't know what the back looks like, so do you think something like this is possible?

I'm not sure if this will help but someone from a different forum had a similar idea of combining multiple products to meet his/her specific needs.

Car visor mount modification

He/She used the FIX instead of the XWAY and that may work better for you as well. I'm still not sure about how well FIX will hold the weight of the phone and the case but it looks like several people are trying it.

Hope it helps.

I used the one that was the size of a dime, there were 2 identical, but one had a thicker material between the disk and the sticky stuff, I used the one WITHOUT the extra thickness. I can post a pic, but heading to bed. Will do tomorrow if needed.

Hmmm...Good question. I have an idea....BRB.

Thanks. I believe the thicker one is made specifically for the Tomtom GPS products where the back is not flush and require additional thickness to ensure proper contact between the disc and the holder.

Why did you choose that particular disc over the other ones... not the thick one but smaller ones?

I was thinking the round part (that accepts the disk for the M2) could be angled and then use the "grasp" on the XWAY could attach to that, however it is too thick.

One thing just looking at the 2 minutes ago, you could glue a piece of plastic (kinda like those RED sticks you get with those cheese and crackers but wider) to the disk, then attach XWAY to that....Kinda hokey but thats all I got now.

Let me think about this some more and maybe I can come up with something....time for bed now.

PS...I was worried about the vent and heat hitting the DINC during winter, however the more I thought about it, I only run the heat thru those vents when I first get in my car, the rest of the time (majority) it's on floor and windshied....so I am not as worried.

Honestly, I wanted to use the smallest one, however I am waiting for the Innocase II from SEIDIO and want to save it for that case.

LOL I was thinking about doing the same thing but I'm really getting used to the silicone case and just may keep it as is and not get the Innocase. I'll have to think about this some more. Thanks

Thanks for checking into this. I just found a video where I finally saw the back of the unit. Didn't realize it was the same as the other lines with just the rubber X. In the video it shows him unscrewing the front to loosen the gripper. If that unscrews completely, I wonder if I can just find a nice plastic or metal plug that I can tap and thread that into. Seems simple enough if so and then I can mount the M2 disc to that. I'll have to look into this tomorrow.

Since it was somewhat cold (50's) and raining yesterday, I did an experiment. I had the heat on all the way up, but on the low fan setting for my commute home (~20-25 minutes). The back of the Storm got HOT (and so was I), but it didn't seem to affect the adhesion of the disk. I tried to pry the disk off the back with my fingernail and it was still holding well. However, I don't like that much heat on the back of the phone. Like you though, I will usually have the heat on the floor and windshield.

Other than it getting hot, how do you like it thus far? Is the magnet holding well? It looks like from your pictures, you are using the smaller disc on the back.... how that working out? Sorry you have to wait for the Incredible. :)

Try GEEKPUZZLER...it's supposed to be $10 off of $40 orders. Not sure if that includes shipping...

Otherwise, just do a search for thinkgeek coupons.

That is the promo code I used last night to order. It works as long as you have more than $40 in the basket. I just bought something else with XWAY. :)

I like it. On and off is very easy since the magnets auto-aligns it onto the mount. I just have to get the phone close to the right position and the magnets take over. The XWAY supports the phone enough that I can use the screen press on the Storm (I need to apply more pressure on the Storm than other touch screens need).

I'm actually using the "medium"-sized disk. It comes with two large disks that are probably slightly smaller than a quarter, one medium sized disk that is about the size of a dime, and one small disk that is even smaller (that's the one I'll use on the Incredible).

As for waiting...I don't have to, but if I don't wait then it will be much more expensive to upgrade the wife's phone. I can live with the Storm for a few months extra in order to save a few hundred dollars.

proclip cradle from blackberry storm works well with INC with a case on it. drilled a hold on side of cradle so the charger port will go thru it

Check this thing out. It's for the HTC HD2, but hopefully they make something like this for the Incredible:

Description
Mount your HTC HD2 securely to your dashboard or windshield with this car cradle kit. Including a replacement battery cover with charging connection and a microUSB charger, your HD2's NaviPanel will activate upon being connected to this mount, so it's instantly ready to guide you to your destination.
That would be AWESOME to have a quality replacement battery cover with charge contacts and matching cradle or mount. That micro-USB is a sure candidate for the early demise of such a great device even if you don't need a car dock. I would have one at home to avoid plugging that damn cable in all the time.

am i missing something? i bought the verizon one specifically for the htc incredible and it worked great. it easily turns from landscape to portrait in case u need to do other things besides navigation

it was $30 and then 20% off by buying something else that i can just go back and return

Does the XWAY swivel from landscape to portrait? Or does it only do portrait?

Also, for those of you that have it, do you have the issue where when docked it no longer responds well, unless you plug in the charger? What some people are saying the grouding issue?

Thanks!!!

You could swivel the mount, but it's much easier to just swivel the phone itself in the mount. It helps to put the disk near the center of the phone.

So the magnet allows you to swivel it. Didn't think about that. For some reason, only though it would go on one way.

How about the grounding issue???
