So the magnet allows you to swivel it. Didn't think about that. For some reason, only though it would go on one way.

How about the grounding issue???

Grounding issue? Not here, at least that I know.

I can rotate, in place, no problem.

I LOVE THIS THING!!!!

So when you have it in the dock and try to swipe from screen to screen it will let you? Also swiping the notification bar down works?

I have a vent mount right now, that i have to put in the phone and once I do it, I basically can't do a thing, unless I plug in the car charger.

Can you test that for us gobluejd?

I was thinking about waiting for the seidio, but was always nervous about not being able to use my case. This things sounds like the best option - although will miss not having an integrated power, but have the car charger hook up if needed isn't a deal breaker.

Thanks!!!

I have no issues in regards to that. I have used in Portrait and Landscape while "docked". If your referring to the video linked above, I think that happens when something is CLAMPING the sides. My BB STORM would do that occasionally with a few cases.

Again I have made calls, swiped, unlocked and worked NAV with no issues.

I will getting a SEIDIO case as soon as it is released.

Sadly, the excessive heat here in Florida caused my M2 to fall apart during my demo drive to show my brother how cool it was:( Specifically, I have a Verizon silicone case and the adhesive holding the button attachment fell off. Fortunately the phone didn't go crashing onto the ground or anything because the wires held it up.

Anyone know of a good adhesive that I can use to re-attach the button to the case? I have tried gorilla glue in the past (to my old bodyglove case) with no success. Is there some super duper double sided adhesive that sticks well in heat?

Thanks.

like sticks to like...go find yourself a double sided silicone tape from somewhere
3M adhesives are generally acrylics which doesn't stick well to silicone...hell, the release liners are coated with silicone

Can any of you Tetrax owners tell me if the gripper part completely unscrews from the magnet part? Just need to know if it does so I can try threading the screw into a custom piece. Thanks.

I just tried and it stops, honestly I did not try and go any further as it felt like it wasn't suppose to. Looking at it from the perspective of the grip part, it reminds me of a toggle bolt. I can see the screw end from the magnet. Like I said I did not want to break mine, but I think you maybe able to do something.

Thanks! I think I'm going to pick one up and see what I can come up with. I'm still pleased with the M2, but the simple in/out of the magnet design and the added stability of the X are just too hard to pass up. Shame they don't have some sort of adjustable mount as there is just no way I can use a vent mount in my car.

Not a bad idea. I had thought of making something else that the XWAY could grab onto (like a simple L-bracket). Now I might just mod the mount from my old TomTom GPS into something that allows the XWAY to grab onto it and still allow the angle to be adjusted. I don't think I'll unscrew the jaws though...I'd like to keep that ability for when I go on travel.

Question: Does the "Standard" version at Thinkgeek work fine, or do I really need the X-way one? I get that the X-way is supposed to increase stability for GPS units and such, but has anyone tried the standard version w/ success? I prefer its look if it's an option. Thanks.

IMHO you really want the XWAY if your going to use it on the mount. The magnet holds AWESOME, but the rubber "X" behind allows you to put pressure on the device while mounted. The other versions are made to just "hold" device.

Get the XWAY, you will NOT be disappointed.

I bought the Arkon one that connects into the lighter. I really, really like it. The only problem is the little grabber things that hold the phone on the sides covers the usb port. I have to raise my phone up about 1/4" off the bottom support to be able to plug it in. Not that big of a deal because it is very secure when the grabbers are holding it-- it doesn't budge.

Just thought I'd give a head's up if you were considering purchasing one.

Did you buy the Arkon Mini-grip (SM321) or the Mega-grip (SM421)? It looks as if the side grabbers are in a slightly different location on the two.

Inspired by AlexNC who made a nifty car cup holder mount, and not being really excited about any of the options I've been seeing on the market, I decided to leverage some on-hand materials and make a car dock myself. I did have to buy some paint though.

I've had a Magellan GPS for years so have several windshield mount arms and adapter plates. I used some scrap hardboard and oak strips and a Magellan adapter plate to make a dock that matches my red to black fade DInc case. I modified the left side to allow access to the volume controls and charging port. The phone slips in from the top and doesn't rattle around at all. Check it out...

Since it was somewhat cold (50's) and raining yesterday, I did an experiment. I had the heat on all the way up, but on the low fan setting for my commute home (~20-25 minutes). The back of the Storm got HOT (and so was I), but it didn't seem to affect the adhesion of the disk. I tried to pry the disk off the back with my fingernail and it was still holding well. However, I don't like that much heat on the back of the phone. Like you though, I will usually have the heat on the floor and windshield.
An update on this...I went home the other day without the heat on and the Storm was still really hot when I got home. I guess the heat was mainly from Trapster running the processor.

Good job Atnbirdie. Very resourceful. I love the fact that you left the grain in the wood. That gives it some character. Nice paint job too. By the way. I added a side port to my cup holder mount to allow me to plug in my USB charger. Making your own stuff is so much fun, isn't it?!

Two pleasantly surprising things happened today for me and my phone
1) my tetrax FIX got here even though I thought it hadn't shipped (it shipped but just no shipping notice)
2) the larger metal button fits perfectly into the belt clip hole of my BG case, perfectly!

Wonderbread,
Can you explain your setup? I think this might be something that would work for me.
Are you using the Tetrax 4 way? What is the BG Case? Did you have to modify it to attach the magnet?
Thanks for your help.
Jon

Just got the Stock Verizon Incredible Car Dock. It fits the DI perfect without a case. So if you have a case you have to take it off (bummer). Also the clip on the top of the phone blocks the 3.5mm jack which I use for streaming music to my AUX input to my stereo (this is the deal breaker for me). I also still actually use wired head set because I got sick of charging another thing. So I'll have to say thumbs up on the adjustably of the Dock but a big thumbs down to functionality.

Any ideas for something similiar?

Yeah, the medium sized tetrax disc stuck great to my hard red verizon case, until I took the phone off of the x-way holder. Then the disc stayed on the holder...

I suppose I could try the larger disc, but my guess is that the 3m adhesive they use just doesn't stick well to this type of material. Like someone above suggested, I'll try to find some better type, or just go for a different case.

FYI, the alcohol swab they provide to clean the back of the case first took off some of the red as well, so maybe I'm leaning towards the new case option...
