Help DROID Incredible random restart/reboot problem

Since when does your phone crashing and rebooting a few times a work defined as working fine, :|

I'm trying to differentiate between those who have broken phones that reboot 5-10 times per day and those who have phones that reboot 1-10 times per week. I'm not OK with my phone rebooting but I know that in my case it isn't a hardware issue. Dig?

I see, I'm going to get mine replacedI want one from the 2nd or 3rd batch. Mine's having way too many problems. I plan to bring my phone to the Verizon android class on June 10th to point out all of the bugs I've been having and finding.

Please call Verizon and report that your Incredible is randomly rebooting. I just got off the phone with a CSR, and there is still no known issue to them that the Incredible is having this problem. They are real cocky about it too. Saying that all of the reviews are great on their site? Who cares about some stupid reviews, the phone randomly reboots and needs to be fixed! I can't afford to miss calls at night as I'm on call for emergency surgery. I have already missed one call when I was needed for an emergency C-section. This needs to be fixed, and they currently don't even think it's an issue....PLEASE CALL THEM.....they say that the more people call that they might realize it's an issue.

Oh yah, good luck with your refurb, hope it doesn't have the same issues. When I threatened a return they informed me that I would get a refurb. Great, how about a fixed phone that works....a software update that fixes the issues.....then we will have properly working Incredibles. Not a pre-used phone with the same problems....

Call verizon and insist on creating a Trouble Ticket. Without trouble tickets they will not fix the problem.

I'm in Texas and I have had several random reboots in the past month, but haven't tracked them like everyone else has. will start doing that now. Also when taking pictures, my camera freezes and I have to either return to home or reboot the phone and either way I loose the picture. Is anyone else experiencing this type of problem?

I'm having periodic reboots.
I had one yesterday, nothing significant was going on other than Pandora while I was driving around.
More consistently, when I download large files (250-500MB) over 3G, often the phone crashes, causing me to try again thereby consuming lots of data. Downloading these files over WiFi does not cause a crash (reboot).

If Google, HTC, Verizon have any sense, they should have built in a way to trap the crash and automatically report it when the phone restarts.

Does anyone know if such a crash (reboot) reporting mechanism exists?
Will HTC really not fix this unless we report problems to Verizon?

lol, well the verizon rep said my phone was out of the 30 day warranty, but she was able to override it and void my 2-year contract. Supposedly It's going to be a brand new phone hot off the backorder presses. I'll have to wait till either June 14th or July 14th to get it, I forgot which she said. Either way I can deal with the bugged phone till the new one arrives, then if its just as bad I can cancel my contract with no penalty get my refund and maybe try Droid2 Shadow since it will be out by then.

The random reboots are not acceptable, BUT you will not miss calls because of them unless your call comes in during the 45 seconds when the phone is rebooting.

I have the HTC Incredible and I am having the same random reboot issue. I live in South Jersey which has a weak signal but I work in Philly which has a very good signal. I will pay more attention to when my phone reboots to see if it maybe a signal issue. I guess I only notice the reboots when I'm at home so far.

I spoke to Verizon and they suggested I do a factory data reset to correct the rebooting issue. Before I go through the trouble of reinstalling all my applications and data can anyone tell me if they tried this procedure and did it help?

I didn't try it, but I don't know how it'd help. Wasn't it at "factory reset" settings when you got the phone? The only way that'd help is if there was an app causing the problems.

So I uninstalled a few apps I didn't use, (ColorNote, Bubble Level, and one other one I forget) and for whatever reason, or maybe it's just coincidence, it seems to have fixed my random rebooting problem. Uptime is currently 88 hours and counting.

I have bubble level, but I put that on after it had been rebooting anyways.

Remember what that last one was.

It's probably advanced task killer screwing all of us.

Never had that one installed, but I'm happy with Task Manager by Rhythm Software.

I don't suppose there is a way to get a history of what apps you installed and uninstalled from Android Market?...

My reboots once a day also, I went to verizon store today tried to get some answer, those dumb kids work at verizon store told me that I need to install "Advanced Task Killer" because I have too many apps running at the same time....
I live in Dayton, Ohio

I went to the store by my house today, they told me the same stuff, like I don't know how my phone works, and did a hard reset on my phone. They basically told me that the random reboots, haptic feedback intermittently not working, native text messaging app crashes that wipe out all my texts, native app. manager force closing and other problems were because of some bad app.

Edit: The person at the customer service desk told me it was because of the app system panel lite.
She told me that even though it supports the Incredible and is rated over 4 stars that is was a bad app and it's not one that they recommend using.

My Incredible seems to be rebooting every 2-3 days. I think its a memory issue. After the phone reboots I have well over 200mb free. After awhile the memory gets to less then a 100mb even though the exact same apps are open. I am using Process Manager but did have some reboots before I installed it, though probably not as much. Before Process Manager was using I Advanced Task Killer. Any thoughts?

Today is my 30 days. I'm in a big debate as to what to do. Mine reboots once a day probably, but it hasn't affected me and everything else is fine.

I'm not sure it's worth the risk of swapping it out and getting a phone where nothing works. I'd lose my mind.

I've been wondering about that. I was also wondering if that's what made the text messaging app crash and wipe out my texts.
Are you leaving your phone on all the time?

Did the customer service rep mention the app by name, or did you mention that you had the app and she said it was to blame?

Ok so this morning, I woke up bc i got a text from my gf. I was gonna roll over to check it in a minute. Then I heard it vibrate again so I thought it must be important. Then I grabbed my phone and it had rebooted itself. I had least 85% battery so it wasnt dead. It was fine for the rest of the day until about 4ish. I was just pulling into my grandmas to help her paint and I felt my phone vibrate. I checked it and it rebooted again. It hasnt done it again since. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it a problem?

I did a factory reset and installed no apps - still had random reboots.

Then I updated the "factory" apps (like Google Maps) - still have random reboots.

I'm going to try to get a new phone once its back in stock.
