Root 1 Click root app on the market

So if rooting gives you 'super-user' access, does double rooting give you 'super-duper-user' access? Or 'super-incredible-user' access?

Ok, I tried this app and I think I'm rooted. But how do I know for sure??? What is the super user icon?? I don't see it on my DX?? HELP

An easy way is to open a terminal emulator and type SU and press enter.

The super user icon looks like a ninja and it should be in your app drawer.

Figures...I JUST computer rooted 3 days ago haha...whatever though since it was easy that way as well.

Best way to check root is either Terminal Emulator and type SU, hit enter and a # symbol will pop up. Or you can install any of the following and if they work, you are rooted:

wireless tether for root users
Root Explorer
adfree
widgetlocker
terminal emulator

gonna take awhile to be comfortable..

Okay so I have never rooted my phone and I am now thinking about rooting with this "one click" option. What happens after I delete the standard apps that verizon pushes to my phone and then I want to unroot? do those standard apps just come back as normal and how do you even unroot?

Could be a Ninja, a Zombie Killer, or a Pirate...current, most up to date, is the Pirate.

I forgot it is the pirate now, it is still a ninja when it asks for su rights. :)

Edit: wow, I'm completely oblivious, the accept screen is a skull and x-bones too. lol

2 stupid questions:
1. can you download the app and NOT run it?
2. if it doesn't work, does it brick your phone?
what are the downsides, if any.........okay, that's three stupid questions, but I went to college in Indiana, so I can get away with it.

I think I can answer some of these, since I went through exactly these thoughts last night as I was rooting my phone with this:

1. yes
2. No, at least not for me. It did freeze my phone three times - once I had to pull the battery, and the phone was fine when I rebooted. The other two times it ran for over 15 minutes with nothing happening. I just backed out and was able to run it again. The fourth time I tried, it worked in about 10 minutes.

It is apparently a temporary root, so your phone will be unrooted if you turn it off and reboot it. I'm waiting on an answer to see if that means I can install a custom ROM or not since it needs to be rooted to boot with a custom ROM I assume.

Its actually not a temporary root. This app was made for the G2 which at this point can only be temporarily rooted. When I used it, I was still rooted when I rebooted.

If you want to install a custom rom download the DX Bootstrap app from the market or get it from koush's website My Brain Hurts

No see above answer.

Awesome, thank you! I guess all the info online was for the G2 which it was originally designed for and everywhere I looked said it was temporary. In that case, full steam ahead on the ROMs...

I am now officially double rooted, if that's even possible. :D I feel very, very powerful. :) ;)

Thanks for the information. Has anyone done like a youtube video for the DX? I'm such a big chicken..........paid retail for the DX and can't afford to replace it - I'd have to steal my daughers ERIS if I did ..........
