2.3.340 is here! Post your experiences

Right, coming from 2.1 to 2.2 brought on exponentially more complaints about problems than this update did. This update seems to have fixed most of what everyone was complaining about after that update.

If you go by the reactions of the people experiencing some glitches from a new update then you're doomed to never update your phone ever. Trust me, there will always be some who experience problems with an update, but for the majority, things get better not worse.

The wifi fix alone made the update worth it for me.

Fixed the mp3 issue :)
I had to redownload all my apps yesterday so I can't attest to the battery life improvement yet.

After several days of running it, I'm really happy. This is really what 2.2 should have been out of the box - and I actually had very few problems with 2.2.

Smooth, fast, very few stutters, the couple nagging issues I had are gone... Hoping nothing will crop up in the next couple weeks, but if everything stays this good, I'm a happy camper. Obviously we all keep our fingers crossed for Gingerbread, but I could easily use the phone in this state until I'm ready to upgrade.

I just wish they'd implement a good, universal copy-and-paste...

Update went smooth for me, downloaded and installed without a problem. Phone seems a little smoother as well but thats mostly placebo or the fresh restart.

Battery manager no longer force closes, but I launched the Market to do updates and right after telling it to install the first update it force closed. Relaunching and going through the other updates and it was fine, so probably just some fluke.

I think you might be pleasantly surprised that it'll last. I've done a whole bunch of ROM changes which have all gotten factory resets, and this is noticeably smoother than it was pre-2.2.1, even after fresh restarts and the placebo effect of installing a new ROM and expecting it to be better.

Forgive my ignorance. What is this "Gingerbread" update that people are expecting down the road? Why the name? What' is it supposed to do that we can't now do?

Ugh. Still says no update available for me. Anyone know why this might be happening?

I am rooted via z4 but haven't removed any apps. Tried with wifi and 3g and same thing either way

Try turning mobile networks to Home only and connecting to Wifi. Then check to see if the update is available. If you are on extended network, it seems to not let you get the update.. Even if Wifi is on.

The names are a Google thing. Instead of going with exotic wildlife as did Apple (Snow Leopard, Tiger, etc...) or boring numbers like Microsoft (Windows 98, Windows 7, etc...), Google uses desert dishes (Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, etc...).

Just being colorful.

Is there any site that says definitely, one way or the other.

Unfortunately not. The only thing we know forsure at this point, is that we may or may not be getting it.

:p

My battery life has been pretty much the same. I just recently changed my tweetdeck settings to update columns manually only and have uninstalled facebook. It helped a little lol.
