Root About to throw my Evo @ a wall...

Well I am officially pissed with my Evo! I was running the latest CM7.2 nightly when everything just went ape shit on me with FCs, lock ups, and of course white screen of death.

I have tried everything even went to the extreme and unrooted my phone and took it back to stock. I re-rooted my phone using the Dummies guide as I did not accept the new OTA so I am still on 2.16 hboot. I rooted succesfully and let the stock ROM sit for a while to make sure everything was working ok and it was.

I flashed the latest radios, RA 3.11 and deleted all of my ROM and Kernel downloads. I re-downloaded 30MAR Build of CM7.2, Mason 0.14 G sbc and GAPPS and reflashed everything with of course doing a 3x wipe and I flashed super wipe 3 times. The phone booted and went to the setup wizard and I always reboot when I get to that screen and sure enough the phone just sits on the HTC screen and does not boot.

I am at a loss here and I am getting very frustrated and I do not know what else to do. Does anyone have some suggestions? I do not want a Sense based ROM either.

EDIT: I have also reformatted the SD card and re-partitioned it as well.

Yea all of that works no problem. What is confusing to me is that I was running the 30MAR build for a week and it worked flawlessly and then I decided to try decks ICS builds and that when everything started happening. After trying it I went back to 7.2 and everything just stated going to hell then I tried what I posted in the OP and I am still having problems. I am going to try this ROM [ROM][2.3.7][AOSP] KWIQ Rom--"Form Follows Function"[4/9/12] UPDATED - xda-developers based on 7.2 and see if I have any luck. :P

If I knew I could get the 3d evo I would just break the screen and charging port lmao but with my luck I would get stuck with a crappy refurb.
 
wait so you are only having problems in cm 7.2 and variations of it? I thought your phone all of a sudden was having issues on all roms i am sticking with cm 7.1 until they have a 7.2 thats not a nightly

Well I tried my Sense ROM from a few months ago and it did the same thing...

EDIT: Did I mention I was using the Mason kernel as well?
 
That kernel might be your issue. Also try redownloading amon-ra and reflashing.

Or try the amon-ra style recovery, I have that on mine and I love it.
 
Have you run things with all standard kernels? Are you still having same issues. Have you tried to run Xplod?
 
If you're using the Mason kernel, make sure you're using the right version.

The HWA version is for ICS ONLY. There is another version that is specifically for gingerbread roms...the G series.
 
Okay here's the newest nightly out for 7.2

[ROM][CM7][Latest Nightly][8APR] - xda-developers

Try a fresh download(most recent would be the 8th)
And if your using amon ra do the full wipe
Meaning all user data, cache, dalvik, android secure, sd ext, system basically everything except sd card... I had the same issue a while back and wiping everything except sd helped and it doesn't hurt to run super wipe afterward....
It may sound extensive but the 5-10 minutes of cleaning up is worth it to me rather then going back and wiping flashing again
 
Yup I made sure I was using the right kernel for GB and ICS. Everything is working now with the exception of two bugs that I experience on AOSP and Sense and that Google Play is very slow almost like I am on dial up and when I have my phone charging everything is real jittery and laggy. I have tried stock kernels and Tiamat 4.1 and 3.3.7 all with the same effect.

I do not undervolt or run any profiles either. Granite what recover would you be referring to exactly? I run amon-ra 3.11.

I have stopped using the Mason kernel as well.

If charging the phone is jittery and laggy it almost makes me think you could be having a battery issue. Do you have another battery to use for a day or two?

No I don't... I don't really see how it could be the battery though, it holds a charge without a problem and shows good health. Still don't explain my Google Play issue either.

I was thinking battery because of the charge issue. With AOSP you need the wifi fix do you have that? If Google Play is having issues in both then I would look at the Wifi setup on the phone make sure its connecting to the right network. (I wouldn't think it would use another but hey who knows)

If non of those are the issue then maybe i'll just help through the thing against the wall :D
 
Ok guys I have been up and running no problems for a couple of weeks and today all hell broke loose again. I went to play some angry birds and the game force closed and I rebooted cleared cache's and fixed permissions.... Well I got booted up and was presented with my lockscreen and I unlocked and everything force closes, nothing works at all. I do not know what to do with this phone anymore and I am really frustrated. Anyone have any tips?

uhhh either quit playing angry birds or ummmmmm throw it against the wall :D


ok seriously shut it down pull battery leave it out for a minute or two put it back in and start it up. See if it does all the FC's again. Could be cause dalvic just got rebuilt.

Well I got MikG up and running but I cannot get a2sd cachesd command to work, it says sd card not mounted. Is there something I am missing? Man I really feel like a n00b right now :eek:

yes it has it built in, but moving cache is different. you will need to command it onto the card.

@nolimit is the card mounted? or is it only in terminal emulator?

The card is mounted like it's supposed to be but when I run the command "a2sd cachesd" it says the sd card is not mount.
 
In Terminal Emulator Type the mount command and look for something similar to :

/dev/block/vold/179:1 /mnt/sdcard vfat

Yours maybe a tad different but the main thing is you should see the
/mnt/sdcard vfat and a bunch of other stuff here

if you see that your card is mounted then dt is having an issue seeing the card or the partition
