Root About to throw my Evo @ a wall...

In Terminal Emulator Type the mount command and look for something similar to :

/dev/block/vold/179:1 /mnt/sdcard vfat

Yours maybe a tad different but the main thing is you should see the
/mnt/sdcard vfat and a bunch of other stuff here

if you see that your card is mounted then dt is having an issue seeing the card or the partition

I seemed to fix it, I had my card set as EXT4 and MikG did not seem to like it. It's now EXT3 and everything is working great now.... *Knocks on wood* :ahhhhh:

Just had a odd issue and I was wondering anyone else has ever had it. When I would try to install anything from the market or a .apk from my Google Drive my phone would reboot. A cache and dalvik cache wipe seemed to fix it but I was wondering if anyone had this before.

Hate to do this but I am stuck yet again... Here is my post from XDA and I wanted to share it here.

Hey guys, I have been having a ton of issues with my phone lately and I am at a loss on what to do from here... I am always having lag, random reboots, and on occasion complete data loss and nothing but force closings on every single app.

I have tried numerous roms both AOSP and Sense and several different kernel combos all with the same problems. My ROM install process is as follows...

1) Wipe Everything 3x
2) Transfer files needed for flashing to SD
3) Run VR_SUPERWIPE.zip 3x
4) Flash ROM
5) Flash Kernel
6) Flash GAPPS (if AOSP)
7) Flash dta2sd
8) Reboot

Phone Info:
White EVO HW 004
Recovery: AmonRA 3.11
SD: 8gb PNY Class 10
Battery: Stock

I usually get to the setup screen and I am able to get everything setup such as wifi and such. I let the phone sit for about 5 minutes then I reboot and procede with the rest of my setup process such as app installs, themeing, etc. On my initial reboot I go into recovery and fix permissions. 7 out of 10 times my phone will get borked right here and I can never get back to the system and I just get stuck at the white evo screen... I have tried cache and dalvik-cache wipes with no luck.

I have even unrooted my phone and tried to run everything as stock with the same results. I am pissed and frustrated and I do not know what to do anymore short of taking the phone and smashing it in to the ground and running it over with a truck

I hope someone has some idea of what is going on and I can get my issue resolved and if not tell me how to get a new phone out of Sprint

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: On reboot the phone makes a clicking noise while on the white htc EVO 4G screen...

Sounds like it may be a hardware issue. If you can get it to randomly reboot in front of someone at Sprint and have them hear the clicking noises while it reboots, I would imagine you'd be able to get a replacement.

Yeah I agree with Frenchy. Sounds like a distant cousin of the reboot issues that me and ocnbrze had on our original Evo's.

Why are flashing the kernel before the GApps? Don't think that would make a difference but.... Have you tried any other wiping scripts other than VR? I've been using Calkulin's Format all Edify version (thanks Mizzou:)) and I haven't had any trouble flashing roms, FC's..... maybe give that a try. Have you formatted the sdcard lately? And then repartition with amon style?

EDIT: I didn't read the threads so forgive me if these things have been suggested;)

I will certainly give that a shot next time I have a issue. Would you happen to have a link to the zip :)

Well guys I think my time with you and our beloved are not much longer... I called up Sprint today because of all my issues on top of wifi and unable to make calls and they are going to call me tomorrow and offer me the choice of a different phone for no charge. I was not able to get it today because I had already went to the repair center and they had ordered me a replacement Evo and it had apparently already shipped.

I want to thank you guys now for all of your help and support now :D

I will keep you guys posted on what I get tomorrow :) What are some suggestions? I was thinking the Nexus, GSII, or the Evo 3D.

The Epic 4G Touch is what I have my eye on currently.

GSIII and don't think twice about it. But I am a bit biased because Kansas City is going to be in the first rollout for LTE. So for anything with Wimax is out of the question for me. If you take that out of the equation, the GSII/ET4G has tons of great dev support and is a beast of a machine.

Thanks guys, LTE/4G is not a issue for me as I dont live in a area that has or will have 4G/LTE. I will most likely go the GSII route if it is a choice but I am not sure how they determine what's available for me to choose from.

If the GSII is not a choice what other phones would you guys recommend? I don't want a downgrade lol.

With the new Evo coming, I wouldn't waste an upgrade on the 3D. Nexus? :)

True but on the LTE that means you're chained to htcdev unless they crack full s-off. That's why I'm leaning Sammy this time around. I would at least consider the gs2 over the LTE if 4g doesn't mean anything. Not saying I would definitely pick it, just that I'd consider it

From what she told me this will not count as a upgrade towards my contract. Besides I am not due for a upgrade until next summer lol. I will let you guys know what I get when she calls me today :)

Well I got the replacement today... The screen is scratched (not the glass), the glass is separating and the bottom left corner and the ear piece sounds like it is blown... How the **** did this even get sent out!?

Thanks to the lovely girl from tech support that called me right after the phone was activated she was unable to send me a different model because this was my first exchange so I told her what I got and she sent out another Evo for me this time in black. She said she will keep in contact with me and if there are any more issues she will escalate my case to get a different model phone.

As I figured the bootloader is 2.18 which kind of sucks but as long as it can be unrooted in case of problems I think I will live. Also what does it mean there is a watermark on the bootloader if you root with htcdev?

It means if you take it in, they'll know you were rooted at one point. But there is a method to downgrade the bootloader after doing the HTC unlock. From there, you run unrevoked like you would have back on the older bootloader version and you're golden...no more watermark.

But theres nothing to downgrade on the LTEVO, so unless theres some sort of bounty you probably wont be able to get a true S-off

Charging port is bad on the replacement I got yesterday... Keep having to wiggle it for it to stay charging. How did this phone even pass QC? If my new replacement has this problem tomorrow I think I am going to blow up.

That sucks. At least they agreed to replace the replacement

The problem it seems is that the demand for these phones is so high that they don't have time to turn them over in correct form. As far as the one you just got sounds like it went from on box to another
