Also, what if when a shooting a gun the damage has a chance to be double or something for a "vital" shot? You could base it off another number in the post ID?

Magic doesn't usually get any advantage over range to hit, in the last battle Tres' first attack was completely negated and he used the rest of his offensive magic on a missed attack. I think I will implement ranged damage gets your agility added to the damage to make it the same as melee in that regard...I will need to look at each character's stats to see about doing something that would allow differences in how you guys hit compared to magic. Initially I wanted to keep everything as simple as possible which is why there is only one way to determine hits roll + base stat + any modifications vs AC of target

I will be honest, I am satisfied that my machine pistol is a good equalizer vs. your magic attacks. I can choose to use more ammo to do more damage. I just need to get some more GCs to buy an upgrade to my rifle for when I need more power...

When basing things off the post ID things get less random the further right you get, the post ID goes up by 1 for each post so in theory post ID#1 should have been the first post on the forum. We already base things on post the 1s and 10s digit if I go to the next number then we will have potentially 100 posts of double damage then 900 posts of normal damage...isn't game mechanics fun :D

@Yeahha
Well, you can always use the same number and just have it do more than one thing. It might only need a 6 to hit and an 8 for vital dmg or something. But it sounds like adding agi to the dmg would work as well.

But think about this, I can spend however many charges I want to make my spell do more damage, they can't. So if I spent 1 charge they would probably do more damage, I usually spend 5-10 charges, so if the fights are longer I will run out. They only run out if they don't buy ammo. But they can use more than one shot with a semi/full-auto weapon. I dunno, just throwing out ideas.

@anti
I have also thought about different types of ammo...the issue being that would require more record keeping as to how much has been used. Really shouldn't be that big of a deal but I haven't been a stickler for making sure you or 9to5 keep up with how much ammo you have used

@AC13
Anti is right with the damage, I can see why you wouldn't think about it as a magic user and just know more charges = more damage. For magic if you use 1 charge the default damage is 1-10 based on the 10's digit of the post ID, in his example if you rolled a 18 the damage would be 2 while a 98 would have a damage of 10. if you use 2 charges the first charge is maxed out and the second charge damage is variable. For ranged users a gun will have a damage range of say 5-12 it is an 8 point range so I would multiply 8 by the last 2 digits of the post ID% and round up then add 4 to it to get damage so a roll of 12 would give a 5 while a roll of 98 would give a 12 in this example

I think that is a good example as to why roles and tactics are good in any RPG communication between characters can allow for the party to succeed easier in a difficult situation. As I tried to convey to Tres with the last battle if there was some teamwork the battle would have been easier for you guys IMO. I will admit you guys have a non-traditional party as you are missing a melee meat shield but it also seems a lot of times that your party doesn't act like a team rather everyone acts on their own accord...while yeah in the end the result may be pretty much the same but that can be risky and in general if it takes 8 rounds to bring down 4 guys but you could have all attacked 1 guy and dropped him in 2 there is less risk to each individual that way...I've had to change some of my encounters based on knowing you guys don't usually work as a team to get out of situations but rather act as 4 random folks in the same situation...it has made it easier on me to get other things done like getting you arrested at the Nexia blockade was rather easy

Like I said it was pointless ,if we had 10% chance to hit . I spent all my charges hoping for a slight hit .After that I had only protection and healing left . Sword fight has a 10% chance of hit 5% of a kill and 5% of failure so I skipped it .

It's was basically a very boring stalemate with each group hoping for a strike .The only thing I need to do was heal the crew every round and hope they hit .Thats why I spent all the offensive charges in one go . Then I dont have to decide whether to attack or heal .
In case smith ran out of charges ,I would have to freeze some of the grunts and attack with sword ...

I will take that into consideration while making future encounters...sounds like enemies with lower AC but better skills at using weapons are needed

I dunno, sounds like a death wish for the party... with as bad as Cain and I roll, the difficulties of the enemies to hit us is a very good thing :D

***BREAKING NEWS***
An iArmy submarine has been used in an unusual attack on Nexia. The four man crew were killed upon impact. Officials suspect the sub was launched from somewhere offshore. The only civilian casualty was John Galt, the owner of a local pizza establishment who was opening his business for the day.

We interviewed Sherri Parks, a witness to the attack here is what she had to say "Well I was going to get some pizza then all of a sudden the building went BOOM! I was like now where am I gonna get my pizza? Galt's always had the best peanut, anchovy pizza"

As details emerge we will provide updates.
