Whats everyones favorite drinks? Do you prefer one brand over the other? Mixed, shots, how ever you like em come chime in here!

Personally im a fan of Vodka, tequila and absinthe (prepared the proper way) I usually will drink out of the freezer and just sip it. tequila is my favorite if im out with friends doing shots or something and absinthe to just kind of relax and enjoy my night. as for brands I prefer double cross or russian standard vodka, hurra durra tequila, and pernod absinthe if I can get it imported over otherwise I suffer through lucid.

Where do you get real absinthe? I have only had it once a while back, was ok but the stuff you find just in stores now has none of the good ingredient, wormwood right?

wormwood and thujone are the main ingredients that are taken out in the US brands(although there are still small amounts allowed into it letting it keep the absinthe name). I have gotten pernod from a friend who was over in france studying abroad who just packed it into their luggage. other than that I dont know of any other ways to get it which is dissapointing as the stuff sold over here in the states really gives absinthe a bad name, its like drinking smirnoff vodka, blegh.

also for those wondering absinthe doesnt make you hallucinate, it does though give you a really happy almost euphoric drunk type of feeling, where everything just seems at peace with the world.

Good enough for Poe, good enough for me!

You can just buy it in France? I have a good friend who lives in Spain and one in Germany might just ask them to help me out.

Manhattan, straigh up. Made with Woodford reserve bourbon.

To me...nothing beats a good Captain Morgan and Coke. Works great at a baseball game, by the pool, and even in the dead of winter.

Cheers!

Red wines, Merlots, Cabernets, are what gets consumed the most in my house.

When we're out, I love to sip a warmed snifter of Hennessy after eating, but it's always Guinness during the meal.

I havent tried much wine yet, but i have a feeling I would like it. whats a good "starter wine" so to speak?

You'll be surprised at how little you have to pay for good Cabernets these days. Barefoot Cellars, for example, uncorks a great wine good with anything to eat for under ten bux a bottle.

Merlots are my favorite.. just try a bottle and have fun picking out stuff you end up liking over time. Just don't let them have too much in different temperature extremes where you transport and store the bottles; you can ruin wine that way and you'll think it's the wine maker's fault.

Not knowing what's available in your state, I can make some general recommendations.

Reds: French Beaujolais for a good dry table wine. Until you develop a taste for the nuances I'd shy away from the Cabernet, Syrah (Shiraz), Merlot and many of the local California reds. If you ask me they have been over-produced in the past decade and have compromised their best qualities, turning them from very good to just okay. There have been some good red wines coming from Chile recently, too.

Whites: Chardonnay is always a safe bet, but it can get a little on the sweet side for the cheaper selections. A good Chardonnay is going to be a tad pricey but can be worth it if you enjoy it. The Italian whites are lighter and dryer than the French whites, which can get a bit on the tart side. I have never developed a taste for the Australian whites which can get very sweet indeed.

The ultimate test is taste it and see if you like it. FWIW you can get very good wines for ~$10.00/bottle.

I'd also recommend not really going lower than $10/bottle. You have to be careful with the really cheap ones because umm... they're really cheap for a reason. hehe My roommate bought like a $3/bottle of Riesling and it was utterly disgusting. Tasted like water with a hint of wine.

I started with white wines and made my way towards the rich reds. For the most part, it takes a bit to get used to.

I can drink a wide variety of wines...but "universally", I would say that Riesling is a good choice. It's definitely on the sweeter side but not sickening sweet. Plus...it's pretty inexpensive ;) I don't think there would be too many people that would not like it.

I don't always drink beer but when I do I prefer Guinness :p;)
