All Things Froyo

there isnt,,,,

but i still dont get who told you there was a release,,

radio shack guys have froyo on non captivate,,,

this is where i get confused,,

where does that mean captivate has foyo??

Northernale.... If you read you would see where I posted they have sold them and had them update OTA in store and one store employee has one that workd OTA. I'm not going to repeat again- pleasere read previous posts thanks. They said it was going OTA.

im reading its not making sense,,,

i want to know if you actually seen it,,,

because it goes back to they are lieing to you,,,

even samsung will directly tell you its not available,,,

At this point this segment of the conversation is not getting anywhere, there is no Froyo update period. Who cares who said what? Is everyone shocked that some idiot selling cellphones was as misinformed as the people buying them?

I'm going to try to my friend from RadioShack on here to explain this to you in the next few days. Feel free to argue with him. He enjoys it.

He didn't root anything while in the store..... Again please save the questions for him. Have a good day. Just was looking for FRIENDLY advice. Thanks

Android Phone - Captivate Smartphone | Samsung Captivate Galaxy S Android Smartphones

all in black and white,,,

you asked if it was available,, you where told no,, but you have the answer as yes,,

you asked if it fixed shutdowns,, well if guy at radio shack has it,, he would know

He said the 2 employees had non captivates. I explained in my last post(after i edited it) that they must not have known jshoe was referring to a captivate version of froyo. Hopefully they knew that just because froyo is out doesn't mean it is out for all phone models.

Oh and I had a random restart issue when I used to have a droid incredible. If you experience something like when/if you ever get a new phone I would recommend exchanging it. It fixed my reboot issue. Things like that don't affect every phone so its best to just exchange and hope you have one that acts right

No he wouldn't know if he wasn't exxperiencing that problem. Also, its a co-worker not him. But I wanted to see if anyone else ahd an official release. You keep saying no but maybe if you let others reply you may find different. Please allow my to gain info from other users. I will no longer be replying to your posts. Thanks

Yes, they understood that.... They have a co waoker they called with a Captivate and have sold a few.

mtfrog,,,

thats why i specified the question the way i did in post 425,,

either RS guys are lieing or they think since 2.2 is out its out for everything,,

What????? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok enough of this he said they have froyo, and called someone who said froyo, who called someone else with froyo and sold froyo to his friend and froyo this and that.
FACTS:
-Froyo is out
-Froyo has to be tweaked for every model phone
-Froyo isn't out for captivate
-Froyo for captivate isn't on some employees phone and he didn't sell any captivates to anyone with OTA or official samsung froyo.

All said and done :D

What you are failing to understand is this - there is NO official release of Froyo one anyone's Captivate anywhere in the world. Samsung would confirm this. It does not matter what your friend says. It isn't available and won't be.....until it is.

Not only that, Froyo is not on Galaxy S in the US for the most part . So Captivate, Facinate or any ate.... Not there.

It is being tested by the Carriers in cooperation with Samsung but there has been no official release date as far as I know, and the dates they thought they would make they missed due to performance issues.

OK - I was hoping for some breakthru news when I moved that in. Turns out it was herring.

The exchange defined itself itself from there.

We all agree - no Android 2.2 exists yet for this phone.

CES begins in 2 days - last good post I recall said - maybe we'll know soon.

I don't want froyo until they have it working properly, I am glad they are holding it back. Better safe than dead in the water with no phone.

Yes I am glad too but this also shows that Samsung is less competent than HTC, which also sold millions of android handsets of various models with all carriers in the US.

Just saw on techcrunch that Samsung accounts for 32% of all Android phones sold.

They're very big.

Samsung needs to gear up and decide that this is an Android smartphone and not a glorified feature phone, or one of their previous mini-smartphones.

HTC informed suppliers to be prepared to give them parts for 60 million phones this year - they sold about 21 million in 2010.

Samsung's traditional in-country competitor - LG - is certainly gearing up big time, and has hit first with a 2-core phone. I believe that's running Froyo so far.

Vizio - top value-added brand always neck-and-necking Samsung in HDTV sales in North America - is now announcing the VIA Phone and VIA Tablet. These will run an app to interactively control the rebranded Google TV coming on the new HDTVs. Again, believe that's Froyo.

2011 is going to be an interesting year for Android.

But yes - HTC had the first vendor-supported Froyo on the Evo right after the Nexus One.

The day it hit, 8-3-10, Android Forums hit a record in traffic that day.

Get the popcorn if Samsung announces Froyo for you guys, cuz it's going to get busy.

SIAP - looks like our UK friends got their 2.2 update for Christmas. It's a Galaxy S update (i9000), just not the same model as the Captivate but still....

linky

all galaxys phones but the captivate in canada are on 2.2 also
Yup... My boss, who has the Vibrant was all like "2.2 is so awesome! Did you get it yet?" Then when I said my phone doesn't have it yet, he started pointing out everything that was different. Man... I want them to get this update out! I bought this phone specifically because it was supposed to have a quick update to Froyo... Had the phone since day 1 (in Canada) which I know is a much less wait than the majority of American users here.

:(

Got tired of waiting........

I honestly do not know why everyone is so impatient about froyo. Root the captivate and install OCLF on it and it will go toe to toe with any other phone and 9 times out of 10 win. That is good enough for me until the official froyo build is released. But picture this situation. Samsung rushed froyo and pushed it out months ago. There would most likely be bugs in it and it probably would be incomplete at best. Then everyone would complain that Samsung did a terrible job and they would say, "Why didn't they just wait and put it out later?" I think that the person earlier who said that they are glad it is taking time is absolutely correct. Of course, I am still probably going to have a party once it does come out. ;D
