I said that in August, September, October, November and December. Then my patience ran out mid-December.I said that in August, September, October, November and December. Then my patience ran out mid-December.
Let's jsut say it didn't work out the way AT&T or Samsung had planned...

But yet you kept posting instead of leaving, oddly.
I just installed Paragon RC5.0 and very happy with it.
Hi,
Have begun reading up on the rooting/flashing, and had a quick question.
Can I perform the ROM updates with a MAC (has anyone succesfully done this)? I see references to certain backup and recovery tools (ODIN3, Titanium, etc), and it's not obvious to me if they run on my PC or on the phone.
I can run windows in VMware (Fusion v2.0), but not sure if I need windows to run natively on the PC. If using a MAC is known to not work, I'll have to get my hands on a Windows box somewhere..
Thanks, Tony.
+1. Got tired of the wait for official 2.2. I have had Paragon rc5.1 and it rocks! I was originally just going to root and backup using titanium backup last Friday. After a few user errors got my backup done, then decided I might as well try Froyo, without the bloat.
Watched the xda videos and had a smooth upgrade. Phone is faster, gps works, bluetooth handsfree works. Love the voice speak now integration with the new swype. Nice rom. Looking forward to rc6.0.
Not sure if anyone posted this for you guys yet (I'm from the Samsung Epic site) but I just wanted to share this link which has a date of 2/11/11 so your official froyo should be close now...
How Do I Update The Software On My AT&T SGH-i897 (Captivate) Phone To Android 2.2 (Froyo) Through Kies Mini For PC?
Just found this over at android police.

I would...I did. I don't care what they do now, I'm sticking to custom from now on. I can hear the wailing now once froyo is released and the crippling they've been working on is revealedI dunno....I still think I am justing to go ahead and root the damn thing....Tired of this cloak and dagger crap of Samsung's.
