Root alternate recovery!

So no reviews of the touchscreen feature?

i dig it. i think its easier than the lightning fast rocker scroll. its a lil slow,prolly take some getting used to for some,but i like it alot. :cool:

i havent flashed anything yet,but scrolled thru some different menus just for kicks.

you cant touch to select,just scroll. still use the capacitive buttons to select.

Sounds like good execution. I would think more issues would have been caused with touch to select rather than just touch to scroll. Looks like I have something to flash again later today!

yeah the writing is skinny... would defiantely be hard to select. you dont even need to be touching the highlighted area... just touch anywhere on the screen and move your finger up or down and the highlight moves.

Yeah I saw it when it was released. Not all that interested personally.

Kinda wish they'd put their effort into working out the final bugs instead of adding something that's not really necessary IMO..

I didn't think I'd care,but I like how it works.

I'm with ya 100%... I keep checking it so see if "sometimes fails to start" has disappeared from the "know prollems" list :(

What bugs?

Forgot what I was posting about

I gave in and flash the newest version, even though I agree with Brick and think this is far from the top of the priority list. The touchscreen works surprisingly well. I think it's faster to use the volume buttons to scroll, but it's still nice to have the option

lol there is no doubt the volume rocker is faster. i always over shoot my target and have to go up and down a couple times before i can get it to stop where i want :o

i like the touch scrolling alot. between that and emo horse are enuff to keep me on twrp,despite my love for Amon :D

how do you format system with TWRP? i just made the switch from CWM as the new version would not let me make backups. feel like an idiot getting used to a new recovery, clockwork was second nature to me.

You can also use the search button I don't like having to use the power button to select

yeah i like the capacitive buttons.

menu=advanced menu
home=main menu
search=select
back arrow=go back
vol up/vol down=emo horse :D :eek: (really... try it!)

Well seeing as you aren't going to do this to your own post ;) Well you might but I'll beat you to it :p

Whatever volcano

Okay so i switched to this recovery(finally) and am unsure of what to check under the nandroid menu. I see that system, data, and boot are already checked by default. I was going to also check .android secure and leave out recovery and cache. Is that correct?

I don't check anything more than what is already checked. I think android.secure will be rebuilt upon use of the phone

Edit: I've not had any issues with my backups on the most recent releases

Does it cause problems to check it?

Also i am doing a backup and it doesn't seem any faster than clockwork recovery

EDIT: The backup took 12 minutes, 48 seconds

It shouldn't cause issues to check. My backups have never taken more than 5 minutes it may be the android.secure

Rex, mine do not seem faster either. I thought something was wrong at first because everyone else was reporting faster backups. Everything seems to work for me so I stopped worrying about it.

I need to look at the archives some day and see what compression algorithms they each use.

I thought android secure is where the apps2sd were stored? If so you need to back it up. Mine was checked by default so maybe the recoveries peek in to see if it is being used.

Also how often do you actually restore a backup if you have no need to restore more than right after a flash it doesn't matter of you lose those backups

I'm just confused. I want to switch to TWrP, as soon as I'm on a perfectly stable ROM....according to Rom manager, it says I don't have CwM recovery installed, and when I try and hit flash the latest cwm, I get promted for SU and it FCs on me. What do I do, manually flash the latest cwm via the link in the sticky?
