Any Gun owners out there?

I had a S&W 45 policeman special. Nickle plated with black composite grips. The old man liked it, and I generoulsy donated it to his arsenel. :) Largely due to the fact that my wife tried to sell it out beneath my nose several times. We don't see eye to eye on guns obviously. ;)

My cabinet is about 1/2 empty of rifles though. I even own 2 Thompson Centerfire .50 flintlock muzzel loaders. They're Hawken models and boy do they fire nice. :)

I did notice that yinz had pictures of custom Kydex holders. I actually started to mold custom knife sheaths out of Kydex and (believe it or not) straigh up old PVC pipe. Here's my custom neck sheath for my Buck Alpha Hunter and one I did for my buddies KA-Bar Kukri.

I want to start doing gun holders next. It's really fun to mold thermoplastic once you learn the dynamics of the material. :)

Sounds to me like I may not have a choice, I simply must put a site up sometime next week. The scope, etc, to be determined. ;) But it sounds like a glock only forum would and should be out of the picture, as that would exclude a fair number of people. A 'glocks and more' maybe, or a 'handguns' or 'firearms' deal would be good.

The new 'category' sounds great. I have been carrying concealed for over 30 years including Colts, Glocks, Berettas, NAA, Walthers, and more. Currently use Glock model 22 (S&W 40) for winter carry and model 23 in summer. After getting the Glocks I don't carry any of the others any more. For those of you that have yet to find their perfect IWB holster you might try looking at the new 'Sticky" brand. My Wife just got one for her Ruger LC9 and loves it. I like it because it keeps the LC9 in her wait band and not in her purse.

PS. The XD's are excellent as well and have the same 'back to battery' feature that Glocks have...

I carry the LC9 daily. I love how concealable it is no matter what the weather.

BTW, Galloway Precision has an awesome mod that I just had done that makes the trigger 100% better (that was my only thing I didn't like about the gun before), plus I got a couple extended mag extensions so I have 8 rounds in the mag.

Sounds good!

I managed to get some range time in today with the lady (ladies day ;) save some $$) for the first time in months. I still stuck but still consider myself a noob. Got to use my M&P22 for just the second time, love it. Getting MUCH better with the G17, and rented a M&P40c. That thing kicked my ass (and hands, ouch), not used to the .40 recoil at all.

Weather should be getting better soon, time to start thinking about outdoor ranges.

I truly cannot decide on a Glock-centric forum, or a firearm-centric forum. There are pro's and con's of each. To be clear, I'm talking about a site outside of AF, to just add to my list of sites to maintain and hope it takes off. I would certainly be active though, as I love me my firearms. :P

A Glock centric site would be smaller, more focused, way easier to maintain, and aimed squarely at one of the most popular manufacturers. I have four and a huge interst, personally. But, then I've excluded some interested folks, I take it, which might not be a great thing to start with. Though, there WOULD be other sections for other manufactures, just less of a focus.

A handgun in general site could be potentially huge, lots to maintain, and much harder to jump-start seeings how most of it would look empty for a long while. Unless we got a fair bit of interested folks here to chime in and start building the base. Doing this would probably bring the most (even if it is just a couple) people up front, which is important - but be a nightmare to maintain. Might be worth it though.

I guess I could do both, but then I potentially short both with participation up front - which again, is quite important.

Any feedback before I just stop debating it all day every day and go with something? Perhaps I should do an actual poll but, if you had to choose:

1. Glock
2. Handguns
3. Glocks and more
4. Any

Also - If you're interested and would sign up regardless, thank this post if ya don't mind - so I can maybe build a little extra motivation within myself to not stress so much on the scope. If you know any people you think would be interested, ask them to take a look at this post. I don't want to spam though, so please be mindful of that.

I would be more interested in a general handgun forum as I don't own a Glock.

On another note, I just ordered my new handgun this morning. A Coonan Classic! It is a 1911 chambered in .357 Magnum :D:cool: Now I just have to wait 14-16 months for it.

I'm down Phases. I'd be interested in either, but more so for a general handguns forum though because I've never owned a Glock.

For maintenance sake you'll probably want a Glock forum with sub forums for the other manufacturers. Glocks Plus maybe?

New site? Yeah!!

Kinda like the Glock forum with subs to include other guns along with carry, holsters, a lounge and other stuffs. I'm easy, I'll be there either way.

Yeah I failed to mention the "Glocks and more" approach, which was the first direction I was headed before I started to get all indecisive. Added to my post. :)

I had, I believe the Glock 36. The one that had the .45 GAP rounds. It was a great firearm. However, the GAP ammo just didn't take off fast enough so I had to sell it.

I once let somebody shoot it, they had placed their thumb upwards right behind the slide. Good thing I stopped him before he fired, he would have taken off his thumb. Sure the .45 GAP ammo was shorter than normal, but it still packed a mighty punch.

I would sign up for a forum on glocks and or more. If you ran it, I am sure it would be awesome as AF is one of my favorites! Let's just say I am a well armed woman with a Glock 26 as well as a few other varieties. I love spending time at the range ! :D

So it was mentioned a while back, that I was thinking about starting a firearm forum. There seemed to be a little interest so, about 2 weeks ago I started on it.

(not just Glock, firearm in general)

Still a little ways to go, but, if anyone here wants to head over and kinda be a part of the initial group to help get some content in, or just kinda look around, feel free! For it to be successful it's going to really need a good kick start. I think it could do well.

First 100 people to make 20 posts will have a lifetime banner, if that sort of thing interests ya. :)

Several folks are already there. EM, IOWA, Bobcat, to name a few.

I'm pretty excited about this one, and it really gives me a chance to learn Xenforo, which more and more of our sites are going up as. So, I'm considering it a hobby AND a benefit to my profession. I'm already getting to cross-apply stuff I'm learning on this site with other sites in our network, and vice versa. I also think it's good to get real familiar with it and user management our future.

Can't tell ya how much I'm digging it so far. It may not look it but a whole lot of elbow grease has gone into this one and I'm quite proud of it. Heck, even Rob likes it - and he doesn't hardly like ANYTHING I like, design wise. ;) I hope it takes off, I'd like to add another site (that I'm super interested in!) to my list of places to maintain.

I guess now is a good a time as any to see if anyone wants to pop over, so here we go! It's on different forum software as I mentioned, so there is a bit of a difference, but it's a good difference.

Ballistically Speaking (haven't made a pretty banner to showcase the forum yet, but it's in the navbar)
