Root Anybody running CM7 source?

Is anyone noticing a decrease in battery life? Mine has been pretty drastic in the one day I have used the rom. I'm coming from skyraider 3.5 which had amazing battery life so the difference is quite notable. I have all the standard battery saving techniques employed but it is still pretty atrocious. Any ideas on how to remedy this situation?

Also another somewhat noobish question. When I flash newer builds over older ones will I lose my current desktop environment and settings, or is that only if I wipe all system and user data. Thanks.

What are all the "standard battery saving techniques"?

You should always backup everything before a flash but when you flash over without a wipe, you shouldnt lose data.

I mentioned this earlier but my CPU wouldn't ramp down worth a crap until I set the min to 245 in SetCPU. Also wiped battery stats and that combo seems to be helping my battery. Man this sucker charges fast.

I am getting horrid battery life as well, but it charges so fast that I am able to charge up all of my backups in no time(4 backups).

Just flashed and liking it so far. Has anyone been able to get adfree to work? I keep getting and error when i try to download the hosts.

A couple of things...

First, this is a very smooth and fast ROM... and it is CyanogenMod quality.

However, I guess I expected more than just a different *look* with Gingerbread. That's not to say that what is new is not good, just that I expected more, or maybe something a bit different. This is basically the same interface as 2.2, just themed differently.

Not sure that it's any faster, either. I can't get Quadrant to work exactly right... if I run *On Demand*, only half of the screens show up... if I fun in Performance mode, no animations appear and it almost immediately stops and goes back to the Quadrant homescreen. Maybe it's just a little too unstable to run correctly?

The other thing I noticed is that there's no DSP Manager. That means my Sirius-XM Radio is back to being FLAT again. I'm hoping they add this back in one of the upcoming nightlies.

One last note... in Settings>Sound, I get force-closes. This happened in CM 6.1 as well, and I don't know why. Now there is a *sound* menu in CyanogenMod Settings... is this supposed to replace the *sound* tab in the Settings menu?

Just my .02.

Otherwise, I love this ROM!

Edit: Just downloaded #45 and will flash it on top of #41. Not wanting to wipe, so I hope I don't have to!

Not sure if another version of DSP could be loaded or if it has to be tweaked for this Rom? I have the same problem with Quadrant, my 3D graphics don't show up and many times it doesn't finish. I did just get a successful run though after a few tries...1256.

As for this though:

One last note... in Settings>Sound, I get force-closes. This happened in CM 6.1 as well, and I don't know why.

I have no problems with the Settings > Sound menu. No FC's. I also had that problem in CM6 however.

I think one of my favorite things (may be GB in general or this Rom, not sure) is that there's a 'send' button in SMS landscape view that actually works with a single press. I could never get that to work with 2.2 no matter the Rom, always had to switch to portrait to use the button. Really saves time for the serious texter.

I was a bit disappointed with GB as well. At least at first. But then I remembered I had the same let down with 2.2. These are small changes. 3.0 will be dramatic.

Has anyone seen these yet? via xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] Cyanogenmod 7 Source Builds for Incredible (1/11/11) (hardware acceleration!)

I just installed Stock battery w/ percent I am very pleased to have this.

I'm really surprised they don't have this in CM settings yet? Not complaining though but I do miss the %. That Matt guy was talking in the main thread like he remade the mods for #45 so I'm wondering if that will work on future versions? Maybe until another framework change ala pre-41?

Yeah; I also do not want complain, but I do wish the battery % mod was in the ROM as well as the dbm #.
These mods do the trick for now. I would not want to speculate on whether or not they will work on the newer releases(or if they will even be needed), but I am sure everyone will keep moving forward. I looked into these % mods over the summer and it did not seem very complicated. Just complicated enough that I am not volunteering to help.

Also, 3.0 is only slated (pun intended) for tablets right now. No word if Honeycomb will port to a phone.

But who am I kidding. Everything gets ported everywhere.

Sorry for the double post, but make sure you turn your 3G off when not in use to save battery life.

It's found in the "Control Panel" widget.

I read somewhere that 3.0 will require a dual core processor. Any one know about that? I am looking for the article but I cant find it...

Cutting edge stuff guys, that's just the way it goes. If we wanted stable we'd go with RR or Virtuous. I always keep a version of sense in the wings ready for nandroid in case I **** up or just really need it. (like when I travel)
But what's with XDA deleting posts that were OT? I mean, what the ... a few posts talking about doing root for friends and such. Not like the mods we have here ;-) Long for the days of OTD, Frisco, Phases, et al. Oh well, I guess the have a rep they need to keep?

IDK but I'm still trying to get a handle on all the CM settings. Just now figured out how to modify and add more quick toggle items into the notification bar. Maybe you all had this figured out but if anybody's a little slow like me:

CM Settings > UI > Widget Buttons

Default is the 4 that are checked but you can add more than that and scroll down further and tweak how certain ones are toggled. Dope.

I assumed that would be a likely scenario, but have not read up on it. I do not think Google expected dual core phones in 2011. Google is not a hardware company. Cannot blame them for being a little bit off on predictions.

yeah, I love this feature. I have Wifi, 3G, sound, rotate toggle, and brightness.

46...LOL...just flashed 45 a few hours ago. :D

Question on the "quiet hours" in CM settings. If you don't choose the mute notifications options, will it still work? Do the sounds just come through but at a pre-determined low volume of some sort?

You have to hit mute for notifications. The quiet hours just disables ringing from a phone call(as I understand it).
So if you do not want anything waking you up, just check everything(except the LED).

I really do not use this feature because I forward my work phone to my cell phone. I hate to miss calls. (I like to catch people who think they can just call at 1am and leave me a message)

Oh my effing G. I never knew how to add more things to the Notification Bar. Thank you veryyyy much.

I do believe I watched a video on Engadget, or read an article that discredits the "dual core" rumor. It's either that it won't NEED dual core, or that they just haven't explicitly stated that yet.

Personally I don't think dual core will be necessary for it.

I think its more a gingerbread thing than just CM7 but tasker and CM7 are not playing well with each other. It cant toggle gps or wifi on and off. The dev of tasker knows about the issue and is supposed to be looking into it.
Now I don't know whether to flash my backup of CM6 so all my tasker profiles work or to stick with CM7 and hope the dev gets tasker working with gingerbread soon
