Apple 5 or Galaxy s3

This is the highest score I've gotten on Geekbench with the dual core SIII:

Just curious, how did you run that test? The first time I ran it I got 1812 (my GS3 is quad core) but the second time I set it to Airplane Mode and restarted the phone. When I ran Geekbench the score slumped to 1650, the reverse of what I thought would happen. When I disabled Airplane Mode and did the test again I got 1847.

It gave that phone ~400 points for 'Stream'. I imagine it's streaming some data from the internet to test that aspect of the phone. Without the other numbers, there's no way of making a conclusive argument, though. The top number is probably the least telling.

On mine I killed all running background processes before I ran the benchmark.
 
If you are going to buy the phone outright, then get the SGS3. It gives you the most bang for your buck.
If you are going to sign a x number of years contract, then get the SGS3. It gives you the most bang for your buck.

Doesn't matter about the iphone5 processor, its strangled by iOS.
The 5 cannot do anything a 4S / 4 can't do.
Processor is wasted, no matter how good it is.

Verizon has deployed LTE Advanced which does allow you to talk and use data at the same time. Dunno if the iPhone 5 supports this though, but it should if it is using current LTE technology. I believe Sprint will support this on their LTE network too.

ICS does not require 1GB of RAM. 256MB is the minimum required according to the specs. Nice try at spreading FUD though.

Yes verizon and sprint can talk and data at the same time on most if not all 4g LTE phones, matter in fact when I called verizon in june to preorder my Siii I asked and the verizon rep said if its 4g LTE then yes. My Siii does talk and data at the same time on 3g or 4g on verizon.

But here comes Apple now making up its own rules and tells everyone (after they spent over a year (speculating) developing this minor upgrade of a phone)

This is the saddest thing about the iPhone 5 and just proves what apple is all about today MONEY!!! NO INNOVISION AT ALL! and trying to stop all other from inventing, that what all these patters law suits are all about.

Apple we innovate a couple of great things = everyone now pays us major to use them and we no longer innovate just sue.
 
i've owned my S3 for about a month now. i must say i have not had any major problems what so ever. as for glitches and bigger problems. my older Lg optimus had problems with restarted and freezing up. Mind you like everyone else has said this was a cheaper android phone.

I just recently gotten the android 4.0.3 update for my Acer iconia tablet and the thing runs GREAT!!! for the android nay sayers and haters... sorry but your greatly mistaken. android runs shit.. the only apple products i have are a few different gen ipods laying around and thats it
 
I think BOTH are nice phones and have their advantages and disadvantages. I currently have the S3 and iPhone 4S, also preordered the iPhone 5. I have had every instance of the iPhone since day 1 and owned some great Android phones likes the EVO, EVO LTE and S3.


Just some of "my" opinions from "my" experience, not saying others may differ.


I would give Apple the edge in OS stability, the edge in "big major name" apps and brand recognition with more businesses building products and making services just for them.

I would give Android the edge in overall "variety" of apps as almost everything can be found (even porn apps) in one app store or another, device expandability and sheer size of some devices.


If I had to pick 1 to be stuck with the rest of my life, I would have to choose an iPhone. I don't though and that is why I have an iPhone and S3. :D
