Backing up app data w/o root?

I stupidly took the GB OTA cause I was curious and now I'm literally slamming my head daily into a wall cause of it waiting for a OTA root solution. Meanwhile titanium backup sits on my homescreen quietly mocking me while I contemplate wether or not flashing back to 340 to root is worth loosing the endless hours i've spent on homerun3D, all 3 angry birds, paradise island, and plants vs zombies. I really can't take not having a rooted phone but I also don't wanna lose my game progress (sad, I know).

Is there any way to backup app data reliably w/o root? Also, when I had a problem with 340 and sbf'd 340 to fix problems, why was i able to retain my programs/data?

Also, CM7 is def on my list of top priorities.

There is no way to backup without root. However, why don't you flash the rooted gingerbread. All you have to do is flash sbf, root froyo and flash two gb update files from clockwordMod recovery. If you have any desire to do this PM, me or any guide and we'll move this into the root section and help you through it.

Thanks, I have no issue with the flashing process and I know that I can flash a rooted GB over 340. I plan on doing that right after I figure out how not to loose data.

To be honest, I hate GB, and after I flash back to 340 I'm going straight to the CM7 beta.

@Metfanant - Is flashing w/o a data wipe always an option even between different version of the software?

No....also...you realize that CM7 is also gingerbread right?

Yea, it's built on GB, right? Sorry, I'm a little new to this game... My previous experience using CM7 on my incredible made the experience way better than stock, so I'm hoping the CM7 tweaks on the DX GB will do the same...

How receptive has google been to all these requests? There's so many good ideas and I feel like they only do what they want.

Anyone try MyBackup Pro? I've heard mixed things about it, but not really willing to risk a possible (not definite) restore after sbf...
