Why is that some themes cause your cell phone not to boot. :( It stays in the boot screen.

Do you have the optimus v?
are you on the backside ROM?
Are you flashing the correct theme version that matches the ROM version?
Are you clearing cache and dalvik?

If it isn't working properly you are messing something up

Give your phone extra time to boot the first time because you cleared cache and dalvik. Could take ten or 15 mins

http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...wip-backside-rom-cm7-green-machine-theme.html thats my rom and im trying the one that looks like ICS. Phone was working before installing the theme now it just stays in boot.

The dates have to match. Each build is only compatible with that theme. Like the new build is 11/22 as far as I know out of the list my themes are the only updated themes and the one transparent he just posted. My posts are all listed by builds date.

I've been playing with all of these themes, looking for "the one". Transparent was close (very nice, btw) but still not quite what I wanted. So taking inspiration from everybody's fine work, I've decided to try my hand at it. May I present for your consideration, Quicksilver.

I apologize for the lack of screenshots, and the Mediafire link, but I can't seem to upload here. I keep getting a security token missing error, and I just haven't taken the time to look into it yet.:o

Edit:: Quicksilver is now found here.

Oh. Well I'm torn between feeling sheepish for not realizing, and pride for figuring it out enough on my own to get it posted. Screenshots will be forthcoming, but will have to wait till tomorrow. I need sleep!

I have a dumb question. If I flash a new theme via recovery and I decide I don't like it, how do I get it off my phone? Do I have to flash another theme via recovery, or can I just use the Theme Chooser in my app drawer to change it to another one I have from DeviantArt or the Market?

Either way. When you flash the theme from a zip it'll be the new "default" theme. If you flash a new theme over that, the previously flashed theme will be erased and the new theme will be the default. If you choose another theme in theme chooser it will override the default theme. But you can no longer use the stock gingerbreak look (unless jerry makes another stock theme thats able to be flashed, he's done it for earlier builds).

Hope this makes sense

At one point JerryScript posted a "theme reverter" zip that put everything (minus the system font IIRC) back to normal...but I don't know if that has to be updated for each new BACKside verison or not, or if it has been updated if it needed it. Before that, I just reflashed the rom on top of the theme. Seemed to work for me. I myself just use themechooser themes

Cool theme. Like the boot animation. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the way the menu's wipe, gets me dizzy. Good work though!

It does but all you have to do is make a blank theme like any other but don't select any mods and upload the two files as normal.

well, thats easy enough. I never knew thats all it was. I'll make one now, look for it on my mediafire page in a few

Edit: Ok, got the Reverter file up. Also, I forgot to mention I also made a transparent status bar mod, for anyone who needs it. (to use with Theme Chooser themes that have status bars that should be transparent)

Thanks guys :)

The transparent status bars... how do you get those to work? I've downloaded a few here and there that were supposed to have semi transparent status bars, but they weren't transparent on my phone. :(

Note my above post, about the status bar mod I made. Download it,flash it,then apply your theme chooser theme that has the transparent status bar. If you have go launcher or adw launcher, you have to go under advanced settings and enable high quality drawing ( that's what its called in go at least, I can't remember the exact phrase used for adw,but u get the idea). Now u can either reboot,or send a text to yourself (or anything to trigger a notification, really) and it should work.

I guess I'm assuming it was the theme chooser themes that weren't working,as the flashable themes have the mod built in....if its a flashable one that's not working, try the launcher settings like I mentioned above. If all else fails, using Multipicture live wallpaper seems to make it work,I dont know why,but it does. Too much of a pia for me tho.

Hrm... I don't use either of those launchers, and not sure I want a full app installed just to get that effect. You rock though for explaining all that.. thank you!

Backside comes with Adw I think. If you press the settings button from the home screen Adw is an option

Try going into settings>cyanogen settings>performance and play around with the 16bit transparency and surface dithering settings. I think I have allow surface dithering on and 16 bit transparency off-i can't remember if that's standard or if I did that because of the status bar-i tried alot of things trying to get it right, lol. Could only ever get it right sporadically with launcher pro plus tho ...

OK, I never really liked transparent status bars, but personal preference aside, who want's me to add an option to set the status bar background to whatever you want it to be?

*waves hand in the air frantically* ME!! OOoo me! Please, that would be most awesome :)

OOOOOO! Me too! That's one of the reasons I cooked up my own theme. I fell in love with transparencies in themes back in '03, using the Crystal SVG theme on Gentoo.
