Baseball 2023

Baseball is a great game. It needs nothing to make it entertaining for me. Maybe it's not geared towards a baseball purist.
I suspect we'll have cheerleaders before they run everyone off. I can see them now.
"Hit the ball and run like hell" "You might be safe, replay will tell"
They could do cute routines between innings too.

I'm not a fan of the ump camera either.
I'm not a fan of commercials superimposed on the mound.
I'm not a fan of a live mic on the crowd.

I was the same. There was a field behind a church a few blocks from my house. No bases, no plate, no mound, no backstop, no outfield fence but that space saw a lot of hotly contested games. The base paths were so beaten into the ground that they were ruts. We all dreamed of being stars of the game. Not a single one of us made it beyond high school ball. But we all loved the game we played. I'm willing to bet they are all still huge fans of the game. To this day, I have my Sears and Roebucks mitt. It's in great shape for being 65 years old.

Something else stupid the MLB is doing is allowing announcers to talk to players on the field during the All Star game

Next, maybe MLB will hire the comedian Monday Night Football used, or hire Jerry Springer to get some fights going in the stands

When you're a Baseball purist this stuff really pisses you off

I'm with you about the Announcers bugging the players while they are playing on field, 2 players almost missed plays talking to them...
I remember back in the days when they took the All Star game serious........ Well my American League finally won a game since 2012.

I think you meant National League finally won a game since 2012

Tomorrow... BASEBALL at last! I was hoping and got my wish that MLB could be streamed at a discount after the All Star break. I've been waiting to drop DirecTV and go entirely streaming but my gifted MLB package has me waiting until now. I go to MLB.com and find out that I'm in the Royals blackout area. I get their games with the package from DTV... I don't get it. Albeit, the Royals aren't worth watching but I'm a true blue fan and have always followed them. Now it seems I'm screwed. The All Star break convinced me that enjoy watching baseball far too much to not be a viewer. I'll pay to stream and pay next year... but maybe not now that I can't watch my team... LOSE :)

Congrats! My game was postponed so I didn't get to watch the Royals lose. I had the plex on but wasn't watching closely. It's great to have some games to watch again. My TV was off most of the break. I watched a bit of the home run derby and the All Star game and that's about it.

The Royals lost in their normal style. They put up two runs and held that lead until the top of the 8th. They failed to come close to putting up a one stinkin' run to tie the game with two innings to try. Looks like Boston will win. Yanks let Ohtani homer. Why do they even pitch to that guy? Dodgers win!
