How do you guys get your screen usage to below 60%

I turned down the brightness quite a bit.

Run things using proportionally more power.

Here's mine today with me doing as sorts of things - the drop while charging was during MHL -> HDMI playback, and those services don't even show here.

Or, yeah, have longer sleep times.

Remember, the process percentages are relative. If your screen uses 60% of power, then other stuff has to account for the other 40%.

90% screen for a 2 hour snapshot is not the same thing as 90% screen for a 6 hour one.

SBE, did you turn off LTE? I forgot.

I dunno, many of us are doing far better without a charger or light use.

Yes, did not seem to make much of a difference except for this::(

I am going to root this weekend if I can get enough time off to do it, hopefully I can get some better results with a different ROM. Thinking Fresh, always had good luck with that, any other suggestions?

To be honest, I haven't tried many. I stuck with Charmeleon but that's just me.

I got great results stock before rooting, that's my concern for you. :(

You tried Open Signal Maps, local towers ok, etc etc?

I know you know Android and Evos, lol, so I am really puzzled in your case.

Dumb question, your back cover fits on perfectly, yes?

I think poor signal may be part of the problem (at home for sure, 34% average signal and switching between two towers), and I am missing at least 5 calls a day where it never rings but I get the vm and text notification. I have also noticed this phone can not make calls where the 3D had no problems.

I am hard on the phone too, constantly doing manual checks for email when I am away from the computer and I travel a lot so signal varies greatly. The calls don't help either, I was on for almost two hours of that 2 hour 40 minute chart..

The back seems ok, but I am using a Seidio Rugged so unless I have the case off I can't be sure.

If rooting doesn't help I may try an RF test at Sprint.

Wow. Ok, mine gets a much better signal than my 3D and I was happy with that.

In your shoes, I would take it to Sprint service and get an RF test, my first 3D was bad that way. If the radio section is borked, you will never be happy with that unit and it will always chew up power.

I'd do the RF test first and not hassle the root return, but whatever you think is best.

Thanks, I'll get it done on my way out of town.

Usually I hate it but today I did some good ones... my roomate flipped out because he thought his car got towed hehe. It didn't. April Fools.

You have any good ones today?

Lemons happen, I've been there.

Spread it forward, you'll carry more weight having LTEvo experience on this, just my opinion. ;)

Good news is with a properly working unit you can decide if this is the one for you. My opinion is that it doesn't suck. :)

EM, my power consumption is excellent. It's the ability to make/receive a phone call that is beyond atrocious. This has been a problem for the last week or so. Today, and this is no joke, every single call I made/received was dropped. Moreover, oftentimes I couldn't even get the phone to connect. I'd press a contact's # or hit the green call/dial button when entering a number, and I'd wait...and wait...and wait. Nothing. I'd have to reboot the phone to get its phone capability to work.

Back to today's usage. I made/received a total of 22 calls in the afternoon. Each and every one of them dropped, sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after a half minute or so. When talking to my sister, I had to call her back a whopping 7 times.

This is absolutely unbelievable and totally unacceptable. I'm on the verge of returning this phone period. I'm fed up.

Have you had it tested by Sprint service yet?

I'm sympathetic to your plight, but rule out or find out if you have a lemon, it's not something that you can solve in a forum if you do.

I would suggest a trip to the Sprint store, make sure it is a full service center and ask for a RF test. I was experiencing similar issues to what you are describing and when I returned to pick up my phone they handed me a new one and said mine failed every test they can perform.

As Early said, "lemons happen". I am anxious to try out my new phone and see if I can get the life and performance everybody else is reporting. I probably won't see the same results because I make a power user look tame this time of year, but if it is an improvement on what I was previously experiencing I can definitely live with it.

With all this talk about battery life, I'm wondering why? I have the Commando, I get 3 1/2 days on standby with my phone. I use it to make and receive calls mostly and when I need the net I turn it on, when I don't need it I turn it off. There was a post in here about a month ago, a user showed all the apps that can be turned off, so I followed it, mostly and now I get really good battery life. Does anyone know how to turn off the messaging app? I do not use it as I am a Truck Driver but this app is using unnecessary power.

Thanx,
Ya'all be good and be careful

Since this has happened recently, have you tried calling Sprint from a land line to see if there is any work being done on the towers in your area, or if other people have reported signal issues in your area? Maybe the cell radio suddenly went bad for you, but I think it might be just as likely that the cell tower is having issues. Is anyone else that you know, in your area using Sprint, having these problems?

I don't think it's a cell tower issue, because it has been happening all over the metro area here. I don't know anyone else with an EVO LTE around here, so I can't compare my experience to theirs. I did recently return from Houston after a quick 3-day trip. I was there a week ago, too. Neither time did I experience this problem. Kinda makes me think it's a Sprint issue.

Did you take the phone in for testing yet? After following Early's instruction to do so I am a much happier person:D, haven't had any mystery drops (just the known areas that I have always had a problem) and the call quality is better.

Don't know if this is something off, but if it is it's pretty damn cool. This is with MeanROM .9 and the root battery tweek.

Note : My phone was only at about 60% when I got this ROM up and running, plus I was messing the settings for some time after, going through pictures and sending some emails. Look forward to a full charge result. Also don't have Rosie 360 flashed right now.

It's been at 33% for some time now.

.similar to my results after flashing Fresh... over 6 hours my battery has dropped about 4%

I can live with that:D
