Best Beer in the U.S

have you tried this yet...

newcastlei.jpg

I have not. I must say, that is a cool looking can, but it's a can just the same. Have they somehow removed the aluminum aftertaste from that can? Either way, I'd just as soon have my New Castle out of a bottle if not a draft.

As for high school bashes, around here it was either...

Not all breweries store their tap in aluminum kegs though. I've seen wooden barrels used too.

I personally make no claims about aluminum taste. But I can taste the differece between bottled, canned, and draught, generally. Same with soda/pop.

I can get on board with this.... Some beers I actually prefer from a can. Especially when pulled from an ice filled cooler on a hot summer day. Newcastle is one of them, although poured from a bottle into a pint glass with dinner is also highly acceptable.

I typically prefer malty stouts and porters. Lately I've enjoyed Black IPAs that essentially add hops to the mix. Stone makes a pretty decent Black IPA: Sublimely Self Righteous Ale.

Must agree bottled beer/ale tastes far superior than canned. However proper cask ale is beer at its finest. The beer/ale is a live product at continues fermenting in the cask. Now yes some of these casks are supplied in big aluminium kegs however thanks to the fact that it is fresh it comes full of character, body, aroma and flavour means that what little aluminium transfer there maybe will be masked. Its basically all I drink and will quite happily leave a pub and travel a few more miles to find it if somewhere doesnt have it.

Good beer can come from a can. A proper lined can is required. I even think they can be better because cans have zero light penetration.

Give this beer a try and you will change your mind about canned beer:

What a great thread, as far as best beer, I can't really say one compared to all these ones you guys are putting out, hell 70% of the beer you guys posted I have never heard of, probably seen some at BevMo, but not the typical grocery store =(

I do like Great White, but I wouldn't say it is the best

A lot of craft brewers are canning beer these days...
These two right here are damn fine examples, and right up there on my favorites list:

The Big Flats was just a joke but I have to admit I'm no beer connoisseur and half the beers being mentioned here I've never heard of. If I'm in the mood for paying top dollar I prefer a nice dark wheat or imported Hefeweizen but most of times I just run in the store and grab a 6 pack of St. Pauli's Girl or Heineken.

Only time I drink Budweiser or other watered down beers is if someone else is buying.

I'm a big IPA guy, though I do love a strong stout as well. In no particular order:

-Three Floyd's Dreadnaught IPA
-Stone IPA
-Green Flash West Coast IPA
-Dogfish Head Aprihop
-Founder's Red Rye Ale
-Founder's Breakfast Stout
-Victory Prima Pils
-Rogue Shakespeare Stout

Lots of Boulevard fans! I actually haven't tried the Amber Ale yet, & I don't know why. I really like the Dry Stout and Lunar Ale. The Zon is a great one for summer, too.

I've never had a New Belgium beer that I didn't like. Fat Tire is my typical go-to beer when I'm @ a bar & grill.

My favorite beer, unfortunately, isn't from the US. It's Young's Double Chocolate Stout.

Young's or Yueng Ling are my top two close favorites!

There's a local micro in Colorado called Dry Dock. It's really great and wins awards all the time at the Great American Beer Fest and tons of other competitions. They're starting to distribute their stuff in stores, so if you guys see it definately give it a shot.

Other than that if I'm being cheap I'll just get Corona for a lighter beer and Blue Moon for normal. Most of the time I'll just drink domestics like Coors, Bud, Miller and that cause it's cheap.

The only beer I can't stand is PBR though.

Great thread, I'll definately be having to take a beer run tomorrow and give a few of these a shot.

best beer in the world ...

Is the first one I drink after a long, hard day's work.

Day

I like to drink Finnegans. It's an Irish Amber brewed with a hint of potatoes. The best part is that 100% of profits go to local charities that work to alleviate poverty. It was started in Minneapolis, MN and is now sold throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Oh man, so many. I'm big on craft beers and the like. I never order the big brands when I'm at the bar, and there's almost always something new in my fridge.

Right now, the one I get the most often is Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat. Some bars are actually starting to carry it down here, now, but it can be found in most of our grocery stores.
