Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

Do you ONLY use Beast, because we continue to use Eroes for issues like annual upgrades. As long as it says they can we can do it. If not we just call it in and still get credit for it.

I really need to start using the multi-quote feature lol

No, we use the carrier sites when we run into snags. Eroes I hate with the passion of a thousand suns. It hurts my eyes just to look at it.

Calling in is never fun, manual contracts suck when your hand writing is terribad like mine.

@Aookay

Does it make any difference what time we choose to pickup our preordered phone? In other words is is better to make an early appoinment opposed to 1 after 5 ( to help ensure I get a phone)?

The Verizon store by me actually has one...well one of their techs has one but he wasn't there when I was there. The girl there said the phone was really cool and the screen was awesome. Pretty much she was just as excited as I was. Lol

If they call you and set up an appointment, you are guaranteed a phone. What time your appointment is doesn't have a bearing on if you will get one, we only call and make appointments for the ones we physically have :)

For those looking to play with the phone... it would be very strange if Verizon stores didnt have a demo for you to play with on July 15th. Just check it out at the Verizon store on the way to BB.

Just went by my Verizon store yesterday and they had two X demos. I got to play with it for quite a while, so now I REALLY can't wait to get it!

I bought the Droid Incredible on June 12th and plan to return it within my 30 days for a couple of reasons, but in general, I just want the Droid X.

That said, the Best Buy I bought it at has given me a lot of hassle with returning it (when I call about it). It actually seems like it's always the same girl who answers me and starts giving me BS excuses. While I know you take a loss when someone returns a phone, this BB mobile employee really just annoys me with the things she says.

As I recall, first time I said I wanted to return because I wanted to get the Droid X. She starts asking me WHY?!? It's the same phone basically, the both have the same 1GHz processor, they're both android, etc. I'm just like... uh no.

2nd time, I recall being told that it would be a hassle to cancel the contract with VZW (it's a new line on a family plan) and that VZW wouldn't let me get a new phone/contract for 60 days. Wow... now lying?

3rd time, same girl, I tell her i'm not satisfied with the battery life. She tells me all smartphones have low battery life and tries to give me some more excuses. I say no, my iPhone lasted a lot longer than this... so she just gives in and tells me the return policy. Then she says (as if she expects it to be broken some way) that they're going to have to check to make sure something's not wrong with the phone first before they take it back.

Anyway... that's my story.

So June 12th I bought this phone, I assumed July 12th is the last day I can return it... but the rep told me a couple days earlier (dunno why) like July 7th. I'm thinking, does this person know how to count? Now considering that, what do you think best buy will say to extending the 30 days by 3 days so I can exchange the phone for the Droid X? I mean it's either the take the exchange, or don't, and I return it early, and probably buy it straight off VZW, or they can bend the rule a little bit to keep $$ to them.

Should I take the 2nd route and return my phone early, what happens to the new number I created? Can I just leave the line open without a phone for 3 days while I wait for my Droid X? If so, I assume even with the line open, I can start a new 2 year contract for the Droid X to get the discount right?

Thanks for the help.

So here's a valid question: What if I'm #1 to pre-order when BB started. I gave them a home phone #. On 7/14 they call me to set up an appt but I miss their first, maybe only call to set that appt up. Let's say BB only gets 10 phones. Do they skip over me and call reservations #2-#11 because I missed the call and therefore I miss out on a phone launch day?

I know this has been discussed somewhat.. BUT. My coworker told me he pre-ordered a DroidX at BestBuy without a contract and that the full price was $538 with tax, meaning the w/o contract price would be $499. Does that sounds right? Reading the other posts everyone had been leaning towards a $599 full price.
I'm further curious how he was able to pay the full price already since it seems like most BB employees don't know what the full price is going to be yet?
Any feedback appreciated as I am looking to purchase it at full retail also.

Hey there!

Sorry to hear you've been put through some hoops to get your phone returned, it's really not that big of a deal for us on returns/exchanges. I would rather have the customer keep coming to Best Buy and return it/get a new one, then to badger them on the return and them not come back again :(

Yeah, the Incredible and the X are two different beasts, would definitly agree with you there.

The cancelling/adding a new line thing, I'll have to look into. I personally have never had to deal with that situation before, so I don't know if thats true or not. Our verizon rep should be in our store today, so I'll make sure to ask her :)

We do have to check and make sure the phone is functional before we take it back, unless you tell us otherwise (like, screen won't turn on, so on) and check for physical damage. That is a normal procedure for any return.

We get in big trouble for taking anything back over the 30 day limit, because the store will get hit with that. We are pretty hard lined about that, it's policy, so I don't see them bending it. As I said, returns before the 30 days are not too big of a deal for us :)

If you return it and don't cancel the line, it will still be under contract and you won't be able to get the phone for the 199.99 price. The only thing I can think of is to return the device, call verizon and tell them you want to switch it to month-to-month, so you are no longer under contract, and then go back in on the 15th to "upgrade" the line and get the new price.

Again, apologies for the hassle you've had to endure, but I hope I helped a little bit :)

Yes, if you don't return the phone on launch day. Generally the policy is to hold it for 24 hours.

Say we get in 10 phones. We take our list, call 10 people to set up appointments for thursday. Only 9 people confirm. We only sell 9 phones that day, the 10th one we will wait to hear from until Friday. After the 24 hours, we go to the next person on the list.

I would get in contact with the Best Buy you preordered it with. If you have to give them another contact number, go right ahead. It's no extra hassle for us, and will help ensure we get a hold of you :)

As of right now, its not in our system at all, so I don't know how he would of been able to do that. Maybe he used a special code like left-right-left-right-up-down-up-down at the register or something. But generally we don't take anything aside from the deposit when we do a preorders, because there are some things we have to put in there that we don't have access to yet.

Strange. He even gave a specific number. I'd ask him for his receipt :P

Can I change voice/text/data plans at any time by calling to verzion customer service if I get Droid X from 3rd party like Best Buy or have to be on same plan for 6 months then change it ?

You can change your plan anytime with Verizon, as it states in their Worry Free Guarantee. Data plan for the phone will require a plan of $29.99 or higher.

This is totally unrelated to the droid x but can you find the release date of the samsung captivate going to AT&T.

I'm currently with ATT and I am about to get rid of them for Verizon. The problem is I'm only 17, and a Verizon rep said I would need to have a co-signer on my plan to get the deposit on a new contract waived.

My question is, if I went to a BB next week and pre-ordered the Droid X and started a new contract, and my co-signer came with me, would I have to pay a deposit or anything along those lines? Or would I just have to pay the 199 and then wait about a week and a half for the phone to come in?

Sorry if that was a little long, any help is great :)

First off, a co-signer doesn't guarantee you no deposit. You have to make sure that person has decent credit as well or they could come back with a deposit as well. The amount you will have to pay the day you get the phone depends on the credit history of the person you bring with you. So you will pay the deposit, which can be anywhere from $0 to $1000 (highest I've ever seen) and the price of the phone. Thats if you don't want any accessories. Also, if you purchase from Best Buy you need to bring a credit or debit card for the deposit, because we can't take cash currently. You can pay however you want for the phone though.

Just went by my Verizon store yesterday and they had two X demos. I got to play with it for quite a while, so now I REALLY can't wait to get it!

Really? I'll have to check my local Verizon store today and check it out if they have it. Hopefully they do.

So last october/november my lg dare went through the wash and was broken. My NE2 uppgrade wasnt until August 1 2010. I am not really sure how, but my slate was wiped clean and I was able to get the Droid on a 1 year contract price with the upgrade set for October. Am i still able to upgrade early and what is the discount if i wait to my designated time?

Thanks for the info, you helped me out right there. The cosigner has good credit, looks like i only have to pay 200 dollars :D

They didn't have them in boston (one by prudental) and the guy there seemed rather clueless and said they wouldn't have them till the 15th (maybe).

No, you can change it at anytime. You have to keep the smartphone data on the line the X is on, however.

Wish I knew, but oh boy did the Aria fly off the shelf when we got them in...someone was waiting for an ATT android fix :) (sorry backflip..)

We pull the despoit/credit check from Verizon, so whatever they tell us you need to put down (as far as deposits go), that's what it will say.

It depends on whether you want the account in your name or your co-signers name. If it's in your name, there might be a deposit since you're 17 and usually don't have established credit =/ I would put it in your cosigners name, then get your credit up, transfer it over to your name later.

If you go and preorder it Sunday, depending on your store, you may or may not receive it on launch. If not, it would be a week or so before you got your phone. The preorder only requires you to put down 50 bucks, not to start a new account. They can run the credit though, and see what it would require for you to start an account when you get one :)

Hope that helps!
