Root Best kernel for Myn's RLS4??

I've tried all the ones on the xda myns forum plus like 6 others, my best in speed and stability is kings kernel bfs 9

So today I totally wiped my phone, installed RLS4 again. I was more careful of the apps I installed. I left on HTC 17 and it's giving me far better batt life than it was previously.

The kernel in my sig works great with myns and i am enjoying great battery life

Netarchy smartass w/o havs

On day one with this kernel and looking really REALLY good so far.

tried kings 11 and htc 17 previously.... but this kernel on smartass looks to be exactly what I was looking for (so far)

That's so funny/interesting to me! It's just like I was told earlier in this thread......some kernel/ROM combinations work good with some EVO's, where the same combination on another group of EVO's, can totally be unstable!

Outside of the theme's, applications, and wallpapers we choose, the fact that we have to search for the perfect kernel to jive with OUR particular EVO, gives it a new sense of individuality! And I think that's awesome!

Are you overclocking? if so, what speed do you have it set at? are you using Set CPU?

I am overclocking. I use Set CPU and have usage at 1190Mhz max and 245 min with it set to On Demand. I can go to 1228 but it becomes unstable in quadrant and 126x freezes the phone and goes into boot loop.

I then only have one profile and thats 245mhz with screen off. Ive tried just about all the Kings Kernels from 9 - 12 in BFS and CFS and all seem to have issues or are slower then BFS 9. The other ones I've tried like netarchy and ziggys are slower and give me problems randomly. I did have CM6 for a little bit with turbo kernel which was ok. Blazing fast in quadrant but I dislike non sense based roms. Myn's is easily the best ROM for performance and visual appeal in my book.

Good info, thanks! I'm running the king bfs 9 kernel right now, but I'm not overclocking with it. I'm trying it out to see if the battery life will be better than the htc 17 kernel

So far so great,

Kings 11 w/SetCPU over/under clocked.

Have a live wallpaper running, moderate usage including picture taking/uploads/angry birds etc.

Interesting...

Same thing I said. I'm sitting at 7.5hrs off and @ 61%. I have used the phone a ton adding new apps and arranging...setting changes, etc. This is on #17.
I think I had an app installed that was killing my batt. I left off close to half of what was installed before. No need to install crap I never used..

Kingz #11 overclocked to 1152/ under to 245 and very stable. just posted a 1700 quadrent score on performance setting, but i always leave it "on demand". Battery life doesn't bother me because I'm always near a charger.

I really struggled with netarchy 4.2.1 cfs bfq havs more smart ass. Was recommended but very unstable and lagged badly. Probably user error though...

Was waiting for days on other forums for this thread, thanks OP, kernal discussions never hurt. I have been also using this site for almost everything now. Can download kernals from it too.

I agree.....over time I seem to accumulate a ton of apps I don't use.

Indeed user error on net 4.2.1 cfs havs more. Got it running very nicely and lag is completely gone. Got the cpu to 1.2 and it is totally stable and really quick. My only concern is the temp rising quickly in the 20 minutes its been on.

@akazabam, no profiles in setcpu? what about temp? about to watch an hour long movie and prefer it doesn't explode in my bed. It's running around 93.2 F

You can have a profile for underclocking when it gets too hot. It's better to save your phone from overheating than causing potential conflicts. I will say, though, that 93.2 isn't *that* hot. You just shouldn't be using profiles that will be used a lot such as screen off and battery percentage profiles. HAVS with smartass will take care of that for you, and conflict with it if you use profiles.

Basically, don't use any profiles other than a failsafe for overheating if you have a HAVS kernel. Chances are, though, that these kernels are smart enough to underclock if it's getting too hot. I don't have any specific evidence for that, but I think that's how it works.

With 2-3 days in with NA 4.2 kernel, how's it looking??? Still using? If so, are you using setCPU with it?? Also, what kind of battery life are you experiencing?

A lot of people are happy with the HTC 17 kernel. Just know that if you want to use setcpu, you're a bit limited.

I've used the following so far:

1) Ziggy's for myn's warm - it was unstable for me. It caused a few random reboots. I didn't keep it much after that, so I can't speak to battery life.

2) Ziggy's 11/24 - Pretty smooth, but had random choppiness here and there. I also had some inexplicable battery drain like others have said. It actually dropped 8% during the night once, which is a lot for me.

3) Kings BFS 12 - Nice and smooth, but random apps on the sdcard stopped working. I didn't give it more than 10 minutes.

4) Netarchy 4.2.1 BFS More HAVS - BFS kernels have always made my battery drain a little faster, but usually were smoother than CFS. For whatever reason, the battery still drained faster, but it was kind of choppy

Current) Netarchy 4.2.1 CFS More HAVS - great battery while sleeping. Drops only 1 - 3% in an 8 hour night. It can be choppy at times, so I have it overclocked to ~1.2 GHz to overcome that. Surprisingly, battery life isn't as bad as you'd think with an overclock like that. It's also very stable for me with absolutely no reboots. I might be lucky there, though. Not only do some people have issues with aggressive HAVS, but overclocking higher than ~1.15 GHz doesn't work for a lot of people. I have been getting about 24 hours with moderate usage, including a 7-8 hour night. I can get an entire weekend out of it if it sleeps most of the time.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm only using setcpu to overclock. I have no profiles set; you shouldn't need them with the smartass governor and HAVS - it has been known to actually cause even worse battery when used with profiles.

Are you using NA with more or less aggressive undervolting???

working wonderfully. full day of use on the extended battery 8 am yest- 4am today and i was still st 50%

talked to insurance companies all day, son played angry birds and doodle jump for at least 3 hours, took some pics, sent some txt, checked email every few hours.

no lag, no reboots, back cover got warm while my son was playing the games but really no issues at all!

More aggressive. It's very stable, but I understand that is not the case for everyone.

Just flashed it, using setcpu (which I've never used before) over 1152/under 245, no profiles and seeing how it does on a full battery charge. So far, it's pretty damn smooth.....
