Root Best kernel for Myn's RLS4??

Yeah, sometimes. If I'm particularly annoyed that day, I'll just plug it back in after it drops to around 92 until it's full again. It usually won't drop so fast after that.

Would you happen to know how the smartass governor differs from the ondemand one??

Ondemand is basically what the name suggests. As cpu load goes up, the cpu scales up quickly, then back down as load goes down.

Here is the best brief description of smartass that I've read from Ziggy471:

Smartass Governor info

Basically, it bases cpu scaling on a lot more factors to give you a good balance of performance and battery life.

On xda forums, myn suggested the netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 cfs bfq havs more smartass kernel WITHOUT set cpu. I'm currently trying that out and so far battery life has been great

Right now I'm using the kernel in my sig w/ setCPU, overclocked at 1152 with a screen off profile min 245/max 245 and on a full battery charge so far I'm unplugged 11 hrs. 41 min. and still have 85% battery left......this time includes 7-8 hrs. sleep, 40 min. of talk time, mild internet browsing and e-mail checking, and I used wifi tether on 4g for about 10 min.

I have no need to always be connected to the internet, so when I'm not e-mail checking or what have you, I toggle network connection off. You can still receive/send text (no MMS I believe) and receive/make phone calls! That's helped my battery immensely!

I've also tried that kernel you're talking about. W/o setCPU, my battery drained sooooooo much, so fast.....When I tried with setCPU, it was quite a bit smoother, choppy at times but overclocking remedied that, and my battery life was a lot better in comparison to not using setCPU......

The battery life w/ that kernel didn't show as much promise out the gates as the one I'm using right now (the kernel in my sig).

Every EVO's different and what setup you have on yours may work out great for you and be totally unstable on mine, and vice versa.....So it's good to just try em out till you find what you're looking for in stability, performance, and battery life.

myn's with na 4.2 cfs no Havs overclocking, only profile set is 245 at screen off

need to change my sig...this one is a winner as well as that set up

1 hour of phone calls, 30 texts, 30 pictures and a few 1 minute videos, moderate web, and everything on. no games, but 10 minutes of Peanut butter jelly time and yo gabba gabba on youtube. Also had the 10% battery drop this morning.

NA 4.2.1 cfs havs more sa

I also use a widget to keep my screen at 20% bright and setcpu from 1190 to 245 with no profiles, set on smartass governor.

the key for me was disabling Collin_ph battery tweak from when I downloaded Myn using Rom Manager. Sounded great at the time.

Hey what are your set cpu settings? I want this battery life :)

Are you running KiNgx 11 as well?? Tell me about your setup....What kernels have you tried?? With the kernel in my sig, overclocked to 1152 and a screen off profile 245/245 I'm experiencing insane battery life....In about an hour it'll be 24 hours since my EVO's been unplugged and I still have about 50% battery remaining.

There are a lot of good ROM/Kernel combinations where people are experiencing great battery life....Test em out and see what combo gets you the battery life and performance you're seeking.

you having any issues with the phone waking up on incoming calls at 245/245? I read about some issues with that. Also, if you have the governor set on smartass, I don't think you need to set the screen off profile, it manages itself.

Trying the NA 4.2 cfs nohavs tomorrow for some comparison. I really liked Kings #11 too. Very reliable and smooth.

Im running myn rls4 and currently using ziggy which is about average. I have used the stock htc #17 which was better imo. But I keep hearing great things from kings so thats why I asked. Im going to set that up now.

I had a great experience with KiNgx BFS #9 and that was my daily driver for a little while but when I would overclock over 1075 it would become unstable.....It worked well for me w/o setCPU. Hope it works out well for you!

I haven't experienced any issues when receiving incoming calls, everything's been butter.....I'm running a kernel w/o HAVS so setting up a screen off profile doesn't conflict with anything, in my case it's tremendously helping improve my battery life.

Thanks, sorry for bothering but can you send me a pic of your settings from setcpu so i can set it right:D

Which kernel are you running??? My settings are for Netarchy 4.2 cfs w/o HAVs, which may not work the same if you're running something different.

right now I'm running kings, unless you think netarchy is better

NA (especially the kernel in my sig) works better on my phone....keep in mind it may not work the same way on yours. I've used KiNgx BFS 9, 10, 11 BFS/CFS, and 12. Those worked better for me w/o setCPU because they had HAVs and whenever I attempted to overclock above 1075 my phone became unstable.

Netarchy 4.2 cfs smartass universal no HAVs, coupled w/ using setCPU overclocking to 1152, underclocking to 245 with screen off profile 245/245 (screen off is the only profile I use) has worked out best for me.....

It doesn't hurt to try all the kernels you're interested in and see how they jive with your EVO.

XDA Forum Netarchy Kernels in case you wanna give them a try. I recommend either the setup I'm using OR NA 4.2.1. cfs more HAVs with the same setCPU setup.

Here's KiNgx in case you don't have this link already

Also, here's a really in depth comparison on pretty much every kernel used with the EVO

Not all Kings kernels use HAVS. According to the BFS changelog, as of #11, HAVS is not included. Anything before that and I believe all the CFS kernels still have HAVS. I'm not 100% on that, but that's what it looks like from the changelog.
