Root [BETA]Cyanogen!! Landed!!! :) Go get it![Updated 7/12/2011]

No. I think I just did a system, data, cache wipe then mount system as it said in the TBH app.

I'm pretty sure the instructions say to manually format system, data, and cache, not just wipe, and mount system manually afterward.

Unless that's what you meant by "...did a system...", then never mind ;)

Yea under mounts & Storage, I did all three then mounted system.

I'm giving Cyanogen another go as we speak. This time I installed Gapps. Wish me luck. I hope I can at least get my google account to take this time. I'll hold of on my apps restore with tb until I get that sorted hopefully this go.

I followed the steps perfectly, and no problems its not a typical flash.

Ok I'm back up and running via the monster install. Got my accounts set up this time (2 google accounts) however, I'm not seeing a "sync" email option under accounts/sync - select X account. ??

If someone can also shoot me a PM when this is more stable I'd appreciate it. Along with a quick guide of how to install it. I'm currently running Liberty version 0.8.

Cheers.

Should be able to install with RM premium now I believe. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but you do have to be at 340 so you would have to SBF first then select the new CWR (DroidX - 2nd init) from rom manager.

Under Accounts & Sync

Select (given) account

I only have listed for Sync:

Books
Contacts
Calendar

Missing Email. Can someone check this and advise?

Oh wow an sbf to froyo? Hmmm. Well looks like I can't do that at work here lol.

Is it stable though yet?

Yeah, the 2nd init process is built off the Froyo kernel so you need that for it to work properly. It is "stable" for a beta. ha ha. still no camera, camcorder or coarse (network) location. I'm sure CVPCS will be back at it this week squashing some more bugs.

I'm seeing about the same battery drain now as I was seeing on ApeX. The first 3-5 days on any new rom seem to kill my battery.... but that is mostly me messing with everything.

So its built off of the froyo kernel and radio?

I'm aware Netflix is a no go so far on this rom but should Netflix be giving a message something about your device has been deactivated... and prompt for your sign in info again. I thought the video would just give an error msg as "cannot play" or something of the sorts?

Not it should not. I just tried it on mine and I can get in fine, it is just when a movie tries to start it looks like it will start and then stops and kicks me back to the nextflix menu.

Do you have the current version from the market?

I can shoot you a PM once CM4DX has stabilized. I.E. Once we have a working camera, video, and Netflix is fixed etc.

I am beta testing this 24/7 on my 2nd DroidX.
Will be in touch.

Someone PM me when CM7 is sorta stable. I totally have not been paying attention to whats been going on. So far all I can figure out is that theres an issue with superuser, at least 4 builds, no GPS, no Camera without 3rd party fix, no Crt and a bunch of user stuff.

I've been excited as hell since CM7 dropped, but currently dealing with some girlfriend issues and fell behind on all the developments.

I realize you probably just didn't want to read all the posts and I can understand that. But your account of this ROM is pretty incorrect. First, the DX is on ht e nightly builds for CM. This means there will pretty much be a nightly build every night fixing bugs found in the generic CM system. Just because there are "at least 4 builds" does not give you an indication of the reliability of this ROM. Today there are 5 builds, tomorrow there will be 6 builds, etc, etc, etc and hopefully the ROM will get more stable with each release.

Always use the latest build unless you see lots of people complaining about some new major bug being introduced into the ROM. That being said, build 4 and 5 are nearly identical with only 1 bug fix (and that is unrelated to any of the DX specific issues we have been seeing).

Using Build 4 or 5:
- we have root
- The GPS bug is fixed
- Network location bug seems to be fixed according to most people (but I don't think it works on my phone)
- CRT works fine if flashed, but it not included in the main ROM package
- Camera only works with select 3rd party apps and is slow
- Video codex still broken - this means most video apps that use hardware encoding don't work, but software encoding seems to work

I'm not trying to convince you that CM4DX is stable because there are still some big bugs out there like the video codex issue. However, many of your assumptions about this ROM where incorrect which is why I felt compelled to reply.

Good luck in what ever ROM you choose to use!

Okay. I tried. I really tried to hold off and wait for a stable release.

Really.

It just overcame me. I've been watching CM since the release of the Nexus One.

Definitely a little buggy. Shutting off my screen when in some of the settings menus causes a reboot. Built-in LED notifications appear to be flaky - at first I was getting a solid LED, fixed that via the solution in the CM forums and now I get no LED - not even with LightFlow. Harumph.

That said, I love the idea that we now have the option to run a real, community-supported, genuinely-customizable ROM. I haven't decided if it's stable enough for me yet but it's amazing to me that the community - and cvpcs in particular - never gave up on this device. I was comfortable with the ROMs that were getting produced even if they weren't ideal, but the recent announcements by HTC and Motorola, and the fact that CM7 is comfortably running on our so-called "locked" devices is evidence of the fact that a dedicated consumer base can move mountains.

Just out of curiosity,
what build are you running and specifically, what was your upgrade path?

I couldn't agree more with your jump in to CM4DX!
I have been enjoying CyanogenMod for some time on a Droid1.
It is absolutely fantastic to see CM7 running on a locked down and crippled DroidX.
cvpcs turned those mountains into gravel.
This to me is a very historic and exciting time not only for the CM Team but for the Android World AND Dev Community.
My hat is completely off to Cvpcs and everyone else who pitched in.
Just goes to show that nothing is impossible.
Cvpcs, against all odds!

Just out of curiosity,

I'm running nightly build #4. Upgrade path was .596 -> SBF to FroYo -> Z4 to root -> D2 Bootstrap to install downloaded nightly build #4 -> factory reset.

After that, I rebooted to recovery and flashed Superuser and Google Apps.

I probably won't flash every nightly build unless I see something good in the changelog or if cvpcs indicates a bug fix on his twitter feed.

Wish Lightflow still worked. I talked to the developer and he said he was working on a new root version to solve some of the incompatibility issues across phones - it will call the LEDs directly instead of relying on the OS calls to the LEDs - so fingers crossed that will fix this issue. I rarely use my camera (I think all cell phone cameras simply have unacceptably poor quality)... and the only other thing that bugs me is that the LED flashlight doesn't work. But hey, what do you want out of a brand new build of a ROM unlike anything else that's been released for the phone? You take the good with the bad.

... and the only other thing that bugs me is that the LED flashlight doesn't work.

You can use a third party Flashlight program just fine. I have tried both Mototorch LED as well as the flashlight button on the SwitchPro Widget and both work fine (both use the flashlight LED as the lamp, not the screen as some programs do).

Not it should not. I just tried it on mine and I can get in fine, it is just when a movie tries to start it looks like it will start and then stops and kicks me back to the nextflix menu.

Yes. Just checked.

On another note, I'm being plagued by the: "The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" [Force Close]

I'm not even opening any apps or such it just keeps popping up.
