Root [BETA]Cyanogen!! Landed!!! :) Go get it![Updated 7/12/2011]

I was in the same boat, going to wait. Then I said F-it, I can always go back to GB if I had to. I'm glad I took the jump. It's more complete than expected. Especially after reading about it for weeks.

I rely and must have a phone for work. I can say with confidence, that CM4DX is stable and complete enough

All in all, I would suggest you flash it :)

I did, when it came out at first, then held until update # 16, got tired of flashing multiple files every day just to have the same stuff busted or even going backwards. I will wait 'til it's a little more refined and doesn't require a second or third file to make the camera work or to get GPS. Add it in, or don't, I would prefer something I don't have to put together every time I flash it.

Where CM7 stands right now:
Out of the box everything works except for the camera, camcorder, some streaming video and torch. GPS is working great and there are no issues with GPS and network locations.
Thanks to Razorlovers there is one fix to flash that fixes the camera, camcorder, streaming video and torch. After this fix is flashed everything works (except any HD videos you have recorder, you need to have another app installed to be able to get these to play or convert there to a different type of file. The only draw back is the camcorder will not record in 720p. With the MIUI camera it takes great pictures and decent (not HD) video.
My advice is if you are wanting to give this a try should, unless, you don't want to take the time to get back to Gingerbread or your previous ROM if this is not for you. Or if you LOVE the blur camera or must record video in 720p.

What are the advantages, 1% battery reading without an addon app, unlocking gestures, different wallpaper for the lockscreen from the normal wallpaper, manually set the auto brightness, LED controls built in. Also just an overall snappy and fast system.

Disclaimer: All phones handle software differently. I have not had battery issues, I get 16 hours out of my phone easily each day. I have not had random reboots (on any of the builds, there were on #33 but it was figured out what was causing that and it looks to be fixed in #34).

Would I recommend this phone to someone just getting in to rooting, no. But to those who have flashed almost every ROM out there this is one of the best ones that I have put on my phone.

.. unlocking gestures...

Hells ya. I recently discovered this a few days ago, and I've become obsessed with this awesome feature. Anyone who hasn't tried to set it up definitely should. It's a great time saver. Who needs lockscreen widgets anymore :D

I've read #34 fixes the reboot issues folk were having on #33. Think it might've been something with the new lockscreen wallpaper thingy.

A few more things I have found for the 'list'...

  • Bluetooth voice dialing does not work
  • Camera hard button does not function.
  • Landscape dialer screen format incorrect
  • No HDMI

I have since gone back to .596. I will be back to Cyanogen at some point though. I have a vacation coming up and I would like good camcorder functionality, the ability to view video/pictures with HDMI on the hotel TV, and better battery life. And call me crazy, but I really like looks of Gingerblur.

You are correct and my bad for leaving the HDMI out off the list. This is something I have used and have missed.

I do not use bluetooth except to listen to music so I am sorry I have left that one off.

As for the camera button, mine works just fine. I do have the MIUI camera on my phone, but the camera button functions correctly. Holding it will launch the camera. Then in the camera it will focus and take the picture.

I haven't tried the MIUI camera app. I may have to try that next time around. I was using the AOSP camera app.

Little Photo is my personal favorite with all the features it has adopted in it, makes for a nice app to have

only downside is flash doesnt work on it :(

Is that a setting that I can enable? If so, where is it located? I cannot seem to find it.

I've never liked to underclock to increase battery life, but I've been using JuiceDefender the past few days and seems to be helping a good amount.

I don't know. If it's built the same way CM4DX is then it will, probably, fare no better. I also don't know if running Gingerbread on the Froyo kernel is kosher.
I wonder if Cvpcs will update 2nd init to a GB compliant version now that a fix has been found...

Do me a favor Coolguy; check the "sensor usage" in the Spare Parts battery history.

I didn't notice much use outside of the normal

Me again...

I just flashed Nightly 34 and everything is great except for one thing (as of now). How do I access the android market from my phone? The android market isn't there, do I have to download it from somewhere and sideload it or what?
