Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

When it comes to custom roms for the warp there is none equal to n00b rom. Since ver. 1 it has been the most reliable rom to date. If a user finds an issue all the have to do is ask and MrBobo and the forum goes to work! Again I say thanks for this awesome rom and all of the hard work that you do!

Upgraded from n00b VI to VII, all setting still intact, everything working perfect, feel faster but VI was fast too, so noob VII is a 5 stars bad ass:D.

Thanks for the support guys and gals, sitting in a tree again waiting for deer to go by...

Ten points to lilbit for pointing out my mark on the kernel splash screen :-)

good luck with your hunt. my family is in pike county Ill. hunting. its where we get our meat for the year. best white tail deer in the country.IMHO!!! Godspeed to all the great hunters in the GREAT land. great job with this snapy and perfect rom, havent noticed the am/pm issue, must be localized.

Question: Is there a way I can install the email app....I need to have work email on my phone. Thanks, the Rom itself is splendid.

Quick Question Mr Bobo...

Can I use Camera+ with this ROM? Do we know if it works fully with our phone? IE the Panorama stuff?

Also, not sure why, but I'm getting pretty laggy results with the VII Not sure what's causing the issues...but I'll figure it out. I have a couple of games, but I only play them from time to time. I have CPU Master Pro from Antutu is there something better you would recommend?

I noticed that maybe the lag was coming from a couple of things... I think maybe Antutu CPU Master Pro and/or Holo Launcher is the culprit. After installing the rom everything would be running great until I rebooted or Holo updated. Then the lag came sometimes so badly that I had to completely reflash the entire rom and start over again. Right now I'm running Go Launcher and uninstalled Holo. Using setcpu.

@ mrbobo - we shouldn't mess with the sdcard boosting size now since you've made the current changes correct? Perhaps that's causing the lag issue? Trying to figure out the culprit because I was doing that too

Couple things to try, I included a script to set the overclock to 1.6, I noticed that turning it down to 1.4 helped my phone, I can put out a zip to lower it. To try it out yourself you can download voltage Control and lower it, when you save the changes save them using the init. D option to overwrite the script I included. If you use another app for overclock or sd read ahead make sure you disable or delete the script I included in the system /etc /init.d folder (disable by removing execute permissions) then reboot... Sorry, this setting has been fairly reliable on my phone. I knew it was pushing the hardware limits a bit.

Ahhh that was it mrbobo! I had myself manually at 1.4 so the init d @ 1.6 was getting in the way. I did it two ways. When I went 1.6 on my manual setting (making sure to change the top end of my profiles to 1.6 too) the snappy came back. Going back to 1.4 and setting the init d script to read only fixed it too. So in a nutshell if everybody wants it at different freq. they should just disable init d.

Well, I ditched CPU Master Pro, in favor of Set CPU...and removed the "Execute" on the files in init.d...still getting some glitching, but I'll work with it some more and see if I can't get it better and smoother.

I'm running Set CPU, backed off to 1708, smartassV2/Sio
Smooth as silk here. Hope this helps.

So wait is noob VII set at 1.6 ghz oc ? If so it's smooth as butter and haven't had any problems other than the LED notification light changing from green to red but I think that's more or less something that can be easily fixable.

I have it at 768 right now...still hesitates when I unlock from the unlock screen...may end up having to reflash the ROM.

What governor are you using? Because, correct me if I'm wrong, but some limit the cpu to a certain frequency when the screen is off, despite what you set your min to.

@Lilbit what are you running as your main top and bottom frequencies? Also are you running frequency profiles? Holo Launcher? Have you disabled the init d tweak? I'm still getting lag in my folders loading the icons and little things like that and maybe I'm running some effed up stuff or something.

I swear I tested this LOL

Anyways, I see the lag now, working on a fix...

One of the biggest changes I made was moving to use zRam instead of swap, I am going to try making that bigger and see if it puts us back on track, I will put out an update later. I don't believe re-flashing will solve the lag issue. If I run terminal and type free when the lag is happening, almost all the zRam is used up so I think that's the issue. I don't think the overclock settings are the cause, I have been using those for a long time. I went to zram recently. I think I didn't catch that because I rarely run the phone more than a few hours without rebooting since I am usually playing with different things for the ROM. I am noticing the zRAM seems to fill up slowly the more apps you use and eventually you just run out of memory with the current level.

EDIT: n00b VII update zip has been updated to include missing minfree settings and increase size of zRam to reduce lagginess. Thanks yall for helping me get this figured out :)

Lol well I'm freaking flying now on my end once I turned off my setcpu profiles and turned off the tweak so it looks like my phone loves zram better than the old setup
