Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

I have been having a certain problem that rears its ugly head so badly that I have to completely reflash the ROM.
As many of you as well as MrBobo and Downthemachine know, I don't panic and run to a dev the moment I get an issue without trying to fix it myself or to determine the root of the problem first (DTM hates this about me LOL). That said I still haven't figured out why this particular problem is happening so I figured it's time to see if anyone else has had it occur. I'll just be minding my own business not installing or anything and for no apparent reason I'll get a RAM dump so badly it locks up my phone. I'll pull battery, restart, and it'll open right back into a RAM dump. With a LOT of patience I could open the app I was using (Antutu CPU Master Pro) to adjust my settings but it would only open to a black screen so it was unfruitful. Tried numerous other apps and nothing would acquire root privelages and just black screens. Eventually the phone will reboot itself and do the same thing. Then, I go to recovery, clear both caches, same thing. Back to recovery again, fix permissions, same thing. Back to recovery again and again and tried all 4 OC kernels one by one I have as well as the 1 non-OC, same thing. Finally, I reflash ROM and all is well for about a week then start all over again with the RAM dumps and lockups out of the blue. At the moment I feel it is something with Antutu CPU Master Pro and the profiles I had running because I stayed with that thru all of them. Right now I'm using SetCPU Pro and profiles with OC v0.6.4 1.8Ghz kernel. Running well going on 3 days. BTW, I was running well and one day I decided I was bored with CWM and decided I'd put TWRP back on and after doing so and rebooting, RAM dump and lockups. Reflashed ROM with the native CWM built in and all was well again. Note that I have ran TWRP before with no problems so that one is still stumping me. Might just chalk it up to my dumbest smartphone but dunno yet. Will update on all of it... to be cont.

VII is close, I have been playing with it for a while now but haven't completely settled on what I want to include. I will be releasing it as an update zip so no reflashing/reloading will be required.

Awesome!!!:D Excited!!!:D Cant wait!!!:D

I have never heard of that issue, it does sound tweak/app related. My recommendation is to stop using the app you are using as it appears to be causing the issue. Perhaps you could try opening that app in settings/applications and clearing it's cache/data. Also do a clear cache/dalvik in recovery and reboot.

It sounds like something is corrupted or conflicting... maybe swap is an issue or something. Just thinking out loud, I will be using zram on noobVII rather than swap so maybe that will help, also will be presetting OC.

Agreed and hopefully I found the culprit with Antutu CPU Master Pro that is no longer on my phone. I clear my caches once a week because of all the tinkering I do but even that didn't fix it so it HAS to be app related. Thanks for your thoughts. Helps confirm my suspicions :D

Don't know if this is a network issue but I haven't been recieving incoming calls lately, it rings on dialers end and they can leave a VM that I get right after the call. I've noticed by and large over the last week that after reboot I can recieve incoming calls for about 18hrs and then it does it all over again. Any Thoughts?
Noob VI w/OC Kernel
apps installed:
Accuweather
Flipboard
IHeartradio
Neutron Mp
appinstaller Ex
Procapture

I've just installed Alien Kernel and its help alleviate some of the back tracking issues I was having (ie scroll left scroll right and new screen ... was pulling the screen and backtracking a millisecond before advancing..dunno if anyone else had this issue). Tried calling from landlines and no issues with missed calls so far will keep you uprised.

n00b VII Update is out

This update will not delete data!

Download link is in the OP now.
Install through recovery, first boot will take a while.

Change Log for VII Update
  • Updated Apps (launcher, browser, music, gallery, play store)
  • Added Flashlight support and app (notification toggle still not fixed, other apps may work from the store now, thanks to smartmanvartan)
  • Implemented zRam in place of swap (with minfree set too)
  • 1.8 OC Glitch Kernel by DTM
  • Defaulted OC to 1.6 sio/SmartassV2
  • Changed Font
  • Removed DSP Manager
  • Added TWRP recovery (if you prefer cwm, here's the zip to flash it (flash after you reboot once after the update))
  • Changed GPS config to google for faster gps fix
  • Removed USB Debugging icon when usb connected

Enjoy!

EDIT: fixed lagginess issue in zip

I noticed that the font change made the time and am/pm unaligned in the pattern lock screen. Is there a way to fix this, or to permanently remove the am/pm indicator?

MRBOBO and every1 involved in this. you are the best. Could never ask for a more stable rom with an awesome community backing. Dont know how you do it mrbobo, but you sure do it right. went from noob to PRO. not even on an evo 4g or the Marquee is there a rom as stable as this 1. Keep up the awesome work. would be so easy to beable to install a rom this easy on another phone. no root or custom recovery available. hahaha. devs need to take example. all phones should b like that. y is a root or custom recovery even needed. wish it was as easy as a pc to install a rom. would use this on every phone i had, realy wish i could. haha.

Flashed, works great!! Using the warped sandwich theme. No problems with alignment on lock screen. Kept the animations too!!. Great work as always Mr, Bobo!!

Have Been running for a few hours now, and it is operating at optimal level. no problems at all. i did notice that when playing music with stock player, if the screen is off it takes a minute to change tracks, odd. but no big deal. love the rom, thanks for the update.

did you wipe dalvik/cashe before flashing, and i always reboot after a few minutes of letting the rom load just to make sure everything during first boot took hold.
