Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Def a kernel issue, I will post a fix tomorrow hopefully, just need to get in touch with dtm

Right on. Next time dtm goes onto groupme he'll see my conversation with the other guy too. He's part of that room group. Are you noticing lag coming back after a few days of the script and kernel burning in? Even when I reboot, clear the caches, or fix permissions it still lags. Starts doing it 2-3 days after installing. That's why I think zcache should be setup to dump more (I think that's how it works anyway).

When I try to launch the flashlight from the pull down menu it force closes. I'm using the flashlight app that came with the ROM.

let's keep this discussion going on the zram dev thread, I haven't had the lag come back since I updated the script last time. Flashlight is a kernel thing too, DTM is aware of it and should have a build for us shortly. MP3 is a known issue right now, I will post a kernel to fix that as soon as I can get a word from dtm on what one to use that still has zram (if he's got one). It's not something I picked up on because I only use pandora for music, I have a few mp3s on my phone but don't use them much.

What should my Kernel Version be reading? Right now it's saying 2.6.35.7+perf+zte-kernel@Zdroid-SMT. I think that's the same as it was before I flashed it but I'm not sure.

The player installed with the ROM wont play my music, nor will google play... I'm so confused...

I'm currently talking with a fellow warper on groupme and he says it's happening to him too. It's a kernel issue because he's not running n00b

Kernel version: you won't see anything different there, the easiest way to check is when the phone is booting, you should see my grey android splash screen followed by a second grey android splash that says glitch oc by dtm (going of memory, but something to that effect) then the boot animation of the android with the moving light. If you see alien or a blank screen that looks kind of messed up that's a different kernel (downthemachine doesn't put a splash screen on his test kernels so that's the messed up looking screen)

Just flashed back to the kernel I included in n00b VII and mp3s play fine using the music player from the ROM. Have all of you flashed different kernels than what I included in the ROM? DTMs latest test build does have the mp3 issue and no flashlight fix.

If you have been following my dev thread for zram and updated to dtms kernel then you will have the mp3 issue, I think downthemachine will have a build with a fix soon. If you can't wait, my recommendation is to flash back using the n00b VII update then flash the test zip from my dev zram to get the updated zram script.

I dl'd the test kernel recommended a couple of days ago and it does have the jacked kernel splash screen. I'm also running your latest script. I'm not having mp3 playback issues running the connected music player apk (I like the widget and lyrics) by Motorola. Just recurring lag and flashlight.

Thanks for the help from an Android newbie. I just wanted to make sure it had flashed correctly before I started reinstalling my apps. I modded my old Motorola Razr and Nokia E71x, back in the day, so now it's time to experiment with my Warp.

Also wanted to say thanks to you and all the other DEVs who donate your time and talents to the different projects that you all are working on. I really like this ROM now that I've gotten used to the feel of it.

If anybody is having lag or widget load issues, I WAS too but after crap canning holo launcher I no longer have said issues. I even bought holo plus thinking it was the free issue but nope, still problems. ADW, Zeam, Nexus, all work fine.

If you're referring to widgets disappearing from the home screen... Then yep... It happens randomly.

I was wondering, what font did you use in N00bVII? I really like it!!

ha, randomly stole this font from the wp7 ROM I worked on with Chev, not sure where he found it but my guess is it's close to whatever they use on the windows phone (the idea of that turns my stomach a little, but it is a lovely font)

also, before anyone asks, there is an ICS stock font zip you can flash in post three if you don't like this font LOL

Which one works best with this ROM? Will the themes **icon packs** work with different launchers?

the audio almost sounds like pmem like i had with my kernel a while back. flashlight is an easy fix.
DTM May not be back for a while, theres something going on. i cant talk about it. but yeah... if i can help solve these problems, let me know

Haha, thanks!!

If anybody is interested I can post a top 5 of home launchers using this ROM. I spent half the day downloading and testing numerous home launchers on two different Warps using n00bVII with all init.d scripts running because I got so tired of all the lag and widget problems. My conclusion is Holo Launcher and Holo Launcher Plus are the culprits of this running so horribly on both of our phones here. Over the past 8+ days I've reformatted my sdcard, reinstalled this rom against numerous test kernels from DTM, different combos of init.d scripts, etc etc etc. and I place ALL blame on Holo Launcher and it's evil "Plus" big brother/sister now. I've been fighting the constant battle trying to create widgets that just won't create on Holo. I noticed when I would press/hold a spot on a screen to select widgets from the popup, Holo was blinking and flashing like crazy behind the popup. When I had to actually create a widget like from apps Elixir 2 and Beautiful Widgets it just wasn't happening. When I went to my app drawer it would take between 2-9 seconds to load my app icons. I NEVER had this problem before so I thought that maybe it was zram. Then I realized that nobody else was having my issues (reminder, I have the worlds dumbest smartphone) so I decided to try Go Launcher because I used to use it before Holo and all of Holo's recent updates. Although not as bad, it too had some issues which led me to then believe that it was a ROM and/or kernel issue since those are both the newest things on my phone(s). But after reflashing the ROM numerous times and reflashing so many kernels on my personal phone my head was spinning. Nothing fixed my lag and widget issues. Finally, I decided to download and try every popular home launcher on the play store and I had not only an awakening but my problems have completely CEASED. I'm amazed at how much BETTER the other launcher's have become while Holo has gotten worse with its bugs after all of its recent updates. It saddens me actually because I've always been Holo's biggest fan. Anyway, if you want my top 5 home launchers running on our beloved n00b ROM with all init.d scripts powered up, let me know and I'll post up. You may be as surprised as me if you haven't tried em all lately. At least I have my sense again! :shot:

Actually, yeah, that did happen to me too. Maybe it will again but I'm hoping it won't. Beautiful widget clock was blank on my phone A LOT. ADW Launcher has ran great and has really come a long way. I'm shocked it's 4.14MB running at 7.27MB of RAM. I've customized everything I like to do customize and it's snappy :D

I shot ya a message kaos

thanks DM!

I know how to fix the flashlight, that is a one line change in the ramdisk and I included it in n00b VII.

The sound issue is also not an issue in the release, as far as I know that's only an issue in the test kernel down had put out. (correct me if I am wrong guys, but I don't get errors unless I switch kernels)

I am keeping my eye on your kernel DM :)

that makes sense, alot of times in test kernels, things wont be fully implemented yet
