Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Just curious if anybody besides me and SicFreak, running the built in kernel on n00bVII, is having battery drain issues. I just can't seem to get my stuff right and I'm savvy enough on android that I shouldn't be having the problems I'm having. Holo, after its latest updates, is useless for me now. ADW (running now) and Nemus work great but have tremendous battery drain. Just typing this little bit of text on Tapatalk has pulled 8% of battery. Now for no reason both mine as well as my girlfriends phones will turn off in an instant when plugging in the cord if the battery is below 20%. She's using go launcher. I've thoroughly tested against different launchers on both phones and now know it's not a launcher thing for the shut down but can't say the same for drain. I don't run for help without my own investigations but this issue is dumbfounding.

I flashed noobVII and it shows I have full wifi bars after connection but it says on loading
screen, my friends can get on fine, same network. Lighting fast; is it a rom issue?

Try wiping cach and dalvik cach, if that doesnt work reflash the rom.

Thanks for the help i wiped catch and dalvik cach, didn't work, fresh install with no avail
still showing full wifi bars But when connecting to internet the connection failed screen
Pops up

Hmm, maybe try reverting to stock rom.. I'm not really sure what the problem could be

Thanks for your help did the wipe, reflash no luck. still have full wifi bars but when connecting to the web connection failed screen pops up. Everyone else hooks up fine
with the wifi
Sorry didn't think post went through

Have you tried another wifi network?

The router may need to be reset... Just thinking out of the box a little, every once in a while when I switched roms my old router used to need to be reset, I think it got confused... All I had to do was unplug it and plug it back in

I had the same problem when I first did noob, but what I did was what Mr Bobo said in the prep of the phone, do a complete format of the SD card and make sure there is nothing on the card and install rom, fix permissions and cache wipe before loading. Hope that helps.....;)

One issue I found with music today is that when I use my Play Music app the next song wont come on until I turn on the screen/ unless the screen is on. At first I thought it was just a bit of lag. The MIUI music player seemed to work fine for me without the problem that the other music app had.

You mean through the file browser on twrp?
ok. never mind. I see it through the file manager. Its a nice touch screen insterface but, why did it replaced my cwm anyway? The previous noob v didnt do that and it kind defeat the purpose of doing a back up that is now incompatible with the new recovery.

Because somewhere between vi and vii hroark13 ported twrp to the warp and it was the first touch recovery available...once you've reflashed cwm and restored your data you can reflash twrp and create a new backup.

By the way, I see the Phandroid app comes installed with the rom and runs in the background. What does it do?

Not 100% sure as I don't actually use n00b personally but I'm guessing it's probably the forum app.

Speaking of bootanimations and splash screens, etc. can I delete all of them and do without?

You can disable bootanimation by adding this to your build.prop in /system
[HIGH]debug.sf.nobootanimation=1[/HIGH]
Bootlogo can be removed from the boot.img if you know your way around dsi's kitchen and want to reflash the kernel but you end up with a glitched screen that makes most people think they just bricked their phone. As far as bootsplash...no I don't believe it can be removed. All three of the above can be changed though.

Go to the rooting made simple thread if you want to switch back to cwm, literally just flash the zip with cwm.

A full data restore will create all sorts of issues coming from vi, a better bet would have been using titanium backup and restoring data for just the mms/phone apps.

So, flash back to cwm, restore the backup, install and use titanium to back up the data you need and update. Then restore just the data from the apps you need.
