Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

There has been no update since the date on the op I can look into the checksum but honestly for a 100 meg download it's overkill. The likelihood of a bad download is pretty low.

I am only asking for an official checksum from the author so that the download can be verified. Not sure why anyone wouldn't want this.

As to the other thing I was saying (the 106mb vs 101mb) it was something that was discussed a couple pages back (two or three I believe). Also, if there was an update then why was there not a version bump (to noob VII.III or something)? I am simply pointing out that we need a way to verify the integrity of the data that's all. Why do you disagree with this?

Thats my point, becuase its something that has been brought up before and if im correct there hasnt been issues. So in my eyes we are beating a dead horse here. No reason to bring up something that works very well and just becuase you dont understand or think he needs to verify the integrity of the data, im sure he has better things to do with his time..

I'll only speak for myself and I say this to honestly help and with the kindest of honest intent. It just has the appearance around here that there are those that try to help those that ask for it and then those that (again I'm just being honest) seem to never be happy with the answers. People are more willing to help if it at least appears its appreciated. Just saying

Word Sir..................:ditto:

Today I went to download a different copy of noob VIII.II and the download says 101mb. Tried to download from somewhere else and same thing. Has the download been changed or corrupted in some way? The old one that I still have on my computer is 106mb and it works flawlessly. MrBobo can you check the source and compare it to the download link and make sure everything is correct still (would still like to see checksums on the first page of this thread near the downloads by the way (I feel like it would avoid a lot of these problems))?

Where can I get B10 without waiting for Boost? I want to have it running with this version of n00b

Update: Well wait a minute, I dl'd the full n00b VIII.II so I think I already have it. I'll dig a little deeper. The reason I ask is because for some reason everytime I reboot my cache and dalvik is auto dumping so I have to keep resetting everything like my ADW theme and gmail app autorun on web links. Can't figure out what's causing it.

The full zip is B10 based and includes the B10 radio updates. Flash it a second time sounds like something is wrong if it's wiping data also make sure your sd card is reasonably clean without any unzipped roms etc

Personally I go back and forth from roms all the time and did a check on what I was saying earlier about compression ratios of zips on different Os's holds true.
1) I Dled n00bVII.II to Tower 101mb
2) I had already placed on my SD card this zip and installed when first released, it registered at 106mb
3) I went back to stock while leaving my SD card untouched....
4) today I usb tethered my device (while in stock) and registered the file to be 106mb in size...
5) I transferred this file back to my desktop (from the sd card) and it registered as 101mbs on said computer
6) I then re-downloaded today and did a checksum on both what was old and what was just downloaded and found both identical.

not judging but I still think its just a minor compression algorithm

Thank you very much. Got the same thing on my end. Thank you for posting it for other users too.

I stand corrected. The 101MB version and the 106MB version are identical. I checked the md5sums, sha256sums, and did a recursive diff check just to be sure on the extracted files (it exited 0 (no errors) so we're good).

Now question, how much time did you waste finding that out and how much of everyone elses time did you waste with this, point is sir, if theres a problem sure man no worries, we all are here to try to help, I know myself that if it wasnt for the great peeps here I wont have what I have, but when there has been no problem or issues with this rom and basically going on a wild goose chase for nothing, again we all, including yourself, have better things to do. No offense just the way I see it......

No offense taken. I understand your position. To answer your question as to how much time I "wasted" I would say about 3-5 minutes or so plus the time it took me to download the rom again. On the other end to actually calculate the checksum of a 100MB zip file:

[HIGH]
$ time md5sum n00bVIII.II.zip
f37f78427837fd01d93cddd34b00da42 n00bVIII.II.zip
md5sum n00bVIII.II.zip 0.23s user 0.01s system 98% cpu 0.248 total
$
[/HIGH]

plus the time to copy and paste in a forum post I guess. May take a little longer on a slower computer too (would probably range from what it took me (.23 seconds) to 4-5 seconds on a low end box I'm thinking). Hope that answers your question. I'm actually kind of surprised that this is not something that is done more here to be honest. It's a pretty standard practice.

LOL again your not geting my point here man, theres nothing wrong here, your time is yours sir, but I see Mr Bobo updated for what reason, none, with that being said theres nothing more to add...

Ok I've come back from stock (everyone yell at me now) I still don't like the new Touchpal KB but I can deal with it, what I'm still having trouble with is removing boat browser completely and instead using Dolphin in it's place as I use it across my devices. If anyone could help it would be appreciated and try to dumb it down since the last time I asked I was a bit overwhelmed.

The first one is good for quick and dirty un installing system apps, the second is the keyboard from vii

I switched over to the full version last night (been doing the updated version) and have to say man didnt think it could have gotten better but it has, so much smoother, benchmarks are up in the low to mid 6000, need to work on the swap to get it exactly were i want it but kudos sir...never been better...:D

No, I still understand your point. You're not stating your position in a way that is overly complex in my opinion. I just disagree with you that's all. I am just trying to do it in a way that is not critical or patronizing to you as an individual. I feel that supplying a way to verify the integrity of the data I am flashing to my phone is important. You do not. You view it as a waste of time. Was that not the point? Is there anything more I am missing (point-wise I mean)?

What app do you use for benchmarks?

As stated before its off topic and does not need to be discussed here..... end of discussion.....

Just shot this one, need to work on the swap:

Easy there killers...

Mr Bobo, any suggestions on killing running programs such as Yahoo mail and messenger, when I kill them in running services they just come back, I use the Yahoo mail on occasion for my business, but if it keeps stealing RAM I'll Ditch it.
