Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Okay I'm having a big problem I can't update perl and every time I try to down load any app from play store I get error 927 I've cleared ceath I'm stock any help would be nice

Quick update: Wiped phone completely, Installed a new sd card, 32GB, followed Mr. Bobo's thread post, Also have the circle battery indicator, (your a gem Mr. Bobo) Install went without a hitch, as did the update. Phone volume in call has increased for me. Not dramatically but noticeable. I never had any real issues before, and don't now. Home button still not lighting up. I'm fully convinced it's a hardware failure. Slowly installing my apps back now. Google play updates and installs the free ones, but the ones I paid for from the old market they sure wont. Bitches!!

Thanks Mr bobo that noob v.I update fixed my problem

Ive tried 7

I am assuming you went to system settings and voice input and output and installed a voice synthesizer like pico and the voice data, right? I just did that and then installed skyvi and it worked... I also like the ivona voice engine for a real sounding voice. I use that with Google navigation and it sounds pretty sweet

I included a flashlight script in the update if anyone wants to use it use smanager to run it, it's in system/xbin named flashlight... You can also set it up by copying the text from the script into this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.rogro.GScriptLite open the app hit menu and add script and paste the contents of the flashlight script into the code box. Once it's in there you can make a desktop shortcut to run the flashlight, it's a bit clunky but it works... Be warned though don't leave it on too long, it could get hot and will drain the battery

Thank drewhill for the updated script and this post for coming up with the method http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-...ht-toggle.html

I still find that RootDim works as well if anybody would like to use it. It's actually blinding light as well and not too clunky. Just download the app from play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.pruss.superdim. I use two shortcuts, one I labeled as "On" from Day1 and "Off" from Night1. Open RootDim 1st and set them up and save them. At least the shortcuts act like widgets and don't open scripting. Whatever floats your boat, just want to give all options that work.

Well my co worker is definitely happy with his new phone "as he called it". Had to format his sd.card for cwm to let me flash the update. But he'll get over it.

no one has mentioned if in-call volume seems louder now, to my ear it's about 20%-30% louder now, dtm re-worked some settings in the kernel that should have improved the call volume on the handset (not speaker phone, just normal)

let me know, I feel like I can actually turn the volume down slightly for once :)

One tip, when you have the phone against your face the display sleeps and the volume control does not work until you pull it away from your face again, never knew that until I started playing with this.

I HAVE NOT noticed an increase in volume after flashing. Perhaps I did something wrong? I called several people to check, but it seems just as low.... maybe i'm going deaf??
Also, I see so many comments about flashlight option, but I don't see that. Blind I am? I really do like the new notification pull down which is so much bigger and easier to select items. Thanks!

Try reflashing and make sure you double reboot and you turned the volune up

I guess you mean the update Zip file?? Didn't know I had to double reboot. I was going to just start from scratch but this is worth the try.

EDIT: Gave it a shot and no luck! The volume not any louder on my phone.

xman95 look in your app drawer for quick panel settings, see if flashlight option is checked.;) That may be why your not seeing it in the pull down menu.:) Besides, it will give you a force close right now anyway till Mr. Bobo gets permissions fixed.:)

Thanks!! I found it and it was checked off. But I don't see it when I pull down the panel and scroll across??? So weird! I guess it doesn't matter since it doesn't work. :)

Anyone have lockups on shut downs or boot to recovery options?? I frequently get stuck with the phone vibrating whenever I try to shut down or reboot into recovery. I usually pull the battery to stop it.

Just to be sure I used the pull down menu to reboot, I did it twice.:p No problems on my phone.:) Just out of curiosity, were you on a BO8C build, BEFORE you flashed noobV?

Thanks I will try it this way. I would only do it using the power button.

I was on BO8C from day one. The day I received my phone (before coming to any forums). I manually ran thru all the updates on the phone to make sure I was up to date. I saw that it updated everything right away.

Fancy that I don't have one either. Maybe you're just special VC? :p
I doubt it!!:p But it is there, at the very end, i can uncheck it in quick panel and its gone, check it back in quick panel and its there again!! I can also put in in a different spot!! :D

I figured out that the pull down can only handle a certain amount of toggles. When I removed a few, the flashlight appeared (like I said before it was checked off). Good to know you can't display everything. Anyhow, I unchecked the flashlight since it doesn't work.

See. You are smart. I followed your advice a few posts up and now I have it. If only I could incorporate it to the warp flashlight I'd be golden.

Thanks VC! :thumbup::D:cool:

Holy name change, Batman! I'm sorry lilbit!
