Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] Warp OEM 2.70

Would it hurt terribly to restore my data only from the backup of my previous ROM? I did what I thought was a full backup with Titanium Backup Pro but when I restored it some of my app data seemed to be missing. Some of my apps wanted to be configured again and I really don't have a whole lot of time at the moment. I did a full restore of my previous ROM for now.

Use nandroid manager

So, I noticed when using Titanium Backup, it informs me that my superuser rights are not optimal, and proceeds to update them to 61xx rather than 5xxx. Thought you oughta know!

I've noticed that before and, while I haven't looked into it much, I'm not sure why it does that because in my updater-script I believe I set all the permissions to 7xxx.

It told me the same thing and I told it to go ahead and update it as I wasn't sure what to tell it to do. I'm more of a consumer than anything until I learn a little more than what I know now.

Was just reading an article over on slashdot about android master key vulnerability, Northeastern University & Duo Security just released a patch: ReKey for Android

However, the scuttle butt in the /. thread Students, Start-Up Team To Create Android 'Master Key' Patch App - Slashdot is that it puts some phones into a boot loop.

Any body out there try this on the warp? I'm not brave enough / not sure I could recover to risk bricking my phone.

If it works on the warp, maybe it should be in the roms?

I just ran ReKey on my dev unit, and all is well. I also ran their other security scanner (X-Ray) on WOEM 2.53 and found it is vulnerable to Gingerbreak, but no others. I have a feeling this is inherent in Gingerbread, though, and not WOEM particularly, but I'll look into it more to find out.

Anyone here have any thoughts on the security of the phone with regards to the NSA, police or other groups? Has anyone tried encrypting this phone? Can anything be built into the OS to make things safer?

I believe there is an update to the encryption package Gingerbread uses (bouncycastle.apk) available which could enhance security, but one of us devs would have to incorporate this into our ROMs to be useful. Any comments on how would be much appreciated! I would like to do this for WOEM.

The one thing which would single-handedly give you a major security enhancement would be to jettison the MMS and phone communications and use only an app (if one even exists!) which automatically encrypts its transmissions. You could do this even over MMS with a separate external encryption app if you so desired, although just because it's possible doesn't necessarily mean it's easy - all that copying and pasting would quickly get old. A much less unwieldy option would be a dedicated app for this purpose, but again... I'm not aware of any that do this.

Feedback anyone? :)

"GingerBreak is not specific to any device, but there is code in there that may not work on device X or Y. The exploit is generic, but that does not mean one size fits all, nor does it mean that there will be no firmwares out there that fix this exploit. A special version may need to be compiled for your device, ask your favorite hacker from your specific device's forum. This APK is meant to make the process easier, but also adds dependancies so that it may not work on your device."

Your min should be lowered to at least 256. Your device is in a constant full bore pedal to the metal state. Almost guarantee thats the drain cause. I set mine @ 1.6 max and 122 min. SIO/SmartassV2

Yes you can delete them from your SD card, but its good to have it in case something goes wrong.

Perfect!
On a side note, a problem I'm running into is certain apps requiring browser support won't open since installing the rom. For instance, I use the TeamStream app from BleacherReport religiously but can't get articles to open when I click them while in my fav team pages. Anybody know what may be causing this? Very weird. Articles show up but when I tap them they don't load and give connection errors even though I'm at full data bars

What browser are you using? Is the app dependent on the stock browser? Or just the default browser?

I don't think it's dependent on any browser actually. I usually just tap it open and it comes up within the app. It's almost like a cache issue but I don't know for sure. Anybody wanna download TeamStream from the Play Store to see if it's doing the same for you? It's free. Just setup a fav team and it will load all stories/tweets associated with the team and you just tap the story to open it in its full capacity within the app. Apologies for the confusion I created by talking about the browser. I got to thinking about it and it's not that I don't think

I recently had an issue with an app that I have used for months - just started FC. No updates or anything... I uninstalled and reinstalled and its all gravy now... As far as cache, have you gone to manage apps and cleared the app cache? I'm working on a lil something to automate this for us but it's not quite ready yet... If I get some time tonight I will DL and check the app out...

Sounds like a bad flash to me... how did you go about downloading the rom?

I know I'm not merc, but are you running widgets, live wallpapers, and/or super intensive programs?
