Cool - I know how to do all of that except the 'fix permissions' bit. Are you talking like chmod?

I didn't change any build.prop or init.d stuff.

All I did was flash the ROM. I changed the name of the .zip file to 'update.zip', put it on the root of my sdcard, and updated from there.

Is there any way to back up the apps that I've installed since this morning if I re-flash the ROM?

Thanks for your help!

My back up assistant or titanium backup are on the market just for that purpose. I use the paid version of titanium. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to flash ROMS to a device.

Fix permissions is listed under advanced in CWM same place as clear dalvik cache.

Also you don't have to rename the zip file after download. Just move it to the SD card in a location you can remember and then choose install zip from SD while in CWM.

Fantastic!

So when I am adding the OTA update, do I install it from CWM, or do I just unzip and install from within my phone?

If you are speaking of adding the OTA updater app itself then yes you would flash from CWM. The update that the app downloads will install itself.

To flash the ota zip you do it in cwm but once its on there it will create an app on you phone....any new updates are done from the app no more flashing from cwm
Crap....didnt see the next page of replys

So I wiped everything, cleared the cache, cleared the Dalvik cache, and reloaded WCS. Then, I installed the OTA from the .zip in CWM.

I couldn't get the actual OTA app to run, and my phone was stuck at 1X with 0 bars of reception - when 5 minutes earlier, before razing everything, I had been rocking out to music streamed over Google Play, at 3G with full service - and Wi-Fi still didn't work.

I had to go back to my Shinjitsu Nandroid backup, then reload WCS from there (without wiping or clearing any caches) to get WCS to work - and still, no Wi-Fi.

I decided to download Log Collector and see what was going on when I enabled Wi-Fi... got some interesting stuff out of it:

Log Collector version: 1.2.0
Device model: N860
Firmware version: 2.3.5
Kernel version: 2.6.35.14-perf
Shinru2004@ubuntu )
#2 PREEMPT Fri Jun 15 21:10:06 EDT 2012
Build number: Warp_Cream_Sandwich_V1.6

10-02 20:04:01.317 I/DATA ( 296): [DCT] intent received :android.net.wifi.WIFI_STATE_CHANGED
10-02 20:04:01.317 D/PowerButton( 280): -----------------------------------------------------
10-02 20:04:01.317 D/PowerButton( 280): GPS: off
10-02 20:04:01.317 D/PowerButton( 280): -----------------------------------------------------
10-02 20:04:01.317 E/WifiService( 214): Failed to load Wi-Fi driver.
10-02 20:04:01.327 D/MobileDataButton( 280): -----------------------------------------------------
10-02 20:04:01.327 D/MobileDataButton( 280): Data Connection: on
10-02 20:04:01.327 D/MobileDataButton( 280): -----------------------------------------------------
10-02 20:04:01.327 D/ConnectivityService( 214): getMobileDataEnabled returning true

So I'm guessing that I'm still on the Shinjitsu kernel, and that... somehow doesn't have the Wi-Fi driver?

I'm going to make a Nandroid backup later and do a wipe / clear cache / clear Dalvik, then run the Log Collector to see what's going on there... in the meantime, any ideas?

I believe the problem is that I didnt include a kernel in the original installation zip... just flash another kernel.... I recommend that you use one of downthemachine's glitch kernels

Sent from my N860 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

That makes sense. So I would backup, wipe, clear dalvik cache, install the kernel, reboot into CWM, install WCS, reboot into CWM, then install the OTA updater? Just trying to make sure that I have a handle on the process.

No. First wipe data, cache, and dalvik. Install WCS. Next install the kernel. And finally the OTA updater app.

It worked perfectly! Thanks so much to everyone for their help...I was getting ready to hroe in the towel on this little guy, but WCS has fixed all my issues - speed, GPS works, Google Play Music works... might get my money's worth out of this phone after all.

hey ive been using this rom for a few days now and im not sure why my phone is running slow. it may have been from using the swapper2 app and im not sure if overclocking my phone to 1.7 ghz is a good idea.

Go into the init.d directory. Delete loopysmoothness. Then win!

ok... im a newbie to flashing and rooting and i would really like to try wcs out... can anyone help me out??? i have never flahed or rooted a device... and i need step by step...please respond as soon as possible and i dont want to brick my phone... so how stable is the wcs rom and where/how do i get/install it...

also... i was wondering would it be equally simpler to just buy a samsung galaxy s3 and flash it to boost mobile... or does that present its own problems??? please help...

The answer to your first dilemma less at the top of the Warp All Things Root forum. In those threads are detailed explanations for rooting. I suggest the one authored by MrBobo. From there you will need to choose a Rom, which you have already done, look in that threads original post(OP) and find the download link for the latest version. While downloading read the install instructions and be sure to observe them. Also, yes this Rom is popular and very stable.
For your next question the answer has yet to be determined, but I'm sure someone out there is trying to capitalize on that. Google is your friend.

I liked the rom, and it seemed to work very well. I did notice a dramatic drop in battery life tho. But what ultimately made me uninstall was that my Bluetooth would not connect to anything. Not a headset, not my laptop, no other phones, and not even my OBD-2 reader that I use with the Torque app!

I don't know if these are known issues, or have been resolved with the latest update, or by other means (I did not read the 1500 post thread), but I figured Id post my results from testing this rom.

All in all, great work, and hopefully this helps the devs

To the person asking for help installing the rom...

First u need root and clockworkmod on the phone. Then download the file from post 1 of this thread to your phones SD card... and read the instructions in that post.

But basically, you just reboot to recovery and wipe the system partition and develic cache. Then install the file from the SD card. I think this is a .zip file, so you choose 'install zip from SD card', choose the file, and let it work its magic. The first reboot after install can take 5 minutes or so, so just let it be until its back at the lock screen.

Plug it into charger when you do all this, just to be safe

Put this on my and my wife's phone, both b08c, working flawlessly. Had a couple issues, weird with bluetooth, but running 'fix permissions' fixed all that. I did, however, put the glitch kernel on them,

http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...rnel-2-6-35-7-oc-1-7ghz-non-oc.html#91;Kernel

just cuz I felt more comfortable (safe) with that one and OC'ing, and using swap. Im no expert tho, but it's working. All except that darn text issue. Two apps ive seen an issue with: Mobile Biz Pro, and Subsonic (subtexts are invisible lol). Load a playlist in subsonic, and you will see the text for a split second when you touch a song to begin playing it.

Edit: reading the post above about dramatic battery life drop; I saw this too, but by the time I had put the OTA update on, and BEFORE I installed the glitch kernel, the issue had stopped after a full charge. Right before the OTA update, batt life % was dropping at 1% every minute or so!

I flashed 1.6 on my wife's phone last night. I have two questions:

1. I tried to update to 1.6.3 via OTA and got "There was an error with the download!". ???

2. How can you "silence" the phone from the lock screen?

Thanks, she loves the ROM
