Root [BOOT ANIMATION] [MOD] COA - Call of Android

Idk how much I'll do with boot ani. I'm going to try teaching myself android development in general. Apps, themes, roms (?) Lol i figured teaching myself a new hobby using my first self built computer would be fitting.

What's the difference between the flashable and non-flashable versions?

It seems that most people prefer to flash their boot animations, but I don't really understand why?(or exactly what flashing is for the matter) I've only been tinkering with the root access to my phone for a couple of weeks.

One you install manually through root explorer, the other you install through bootstrap (it's more automated this way).

The flashable version is for people who are lazy... haha. J/k... its just easier. I don't like flashing it just because i can do it all in root explorer and i find that route easy. But for people who are leary of using root explorer or just want the simple way out a flashable zip is the way to go. Just one more thing we have to do to provide it to you when we have to make it flashable.

This is great. Now that some have figured out how to get sound on these, it would be cool if you could get the old movie reel sound effect to go with it. Never the less, this is one of the best boot animations that I have seen.

I'll see what i can do about the reel sound. Anyone know where I start with the desc.txt edits I'll need for the sound and also where to insert it so it works right?

I have some that I did with sound, I will post one up so you can check it out......some people don't like the sound because if it reboots when at work during a meeting it's embarrassing.......lol, just ask VoidedSaint.

Thanks... I'll work on it after my daughters go to bed tonight... I'm with you in that I don't like "sound" during boot... but to each is own I guess. I'll pack it all together later so it can be flashed.

i definately like the flashable versions of everything. ive rooted, flashed roms, changed boot logos, and boot animations all without the use of sbf or root explorer. not because i dont like them but because i have no idea how they work. never used em! i would like to become a little more literate in the whole "art" of changing things. i just havnt got that far yet.

Im not too sure how to get this to work. I have the .zip file in my root. I have a rooted phone. I have droid x bootsrap. What are the steps needed to get this goin? im a newb at droid (first smartphone...ever) Thanks in advance for the help.

You don't want it on the root. Use root explorer and put the boot bootanimation.zip in the folder data / local. Its not in the sd card. That is the nonflashable version. That's the method I used and recommend. Though I'm sure the other where works also.

Which zip is on the root of your card? They are both zips, except one is installable through bootstrap and the other is not.

ok, i put the boot.zip into the data/local folder. Now what? restart?
i would like to know how to do both ways of installing. The bootstrap method, and the method thatdmiller was explaining to me.

if you have the zip from the non flashable method in that folder then it should work when you reboot. The other zip will not work for this method. The other way is to download the flashable version and out it on the root of your sd card. Then boot into clockwork mod and install zip from sd card. Both methods are very easy and explained well. Once you try installing things with either method then you'll realize how easy they make it.

Just to let you guys know, I added the cinema reel sound to this bootani, and now it looks and sounds really nice :D

I'll let jonathanmsims post up his version since this is his thread; this is just a heads up to let you guys know that it sounds good with the cinema reel sound ;)

Now that is amazing!!!! Great work on this and thanks, worked like a charm. It is too bad to show it off I have to reboot my phone.

Thanks again!
