Root [BOOT ANIMATION] [MOD] COA - Call of Android

This won't work on .595 with sound or without for that matter, will it?
(Steven stares at Bouchingo)

No worries man.........life always has to come first, not android ;)

Unless you're Steven......:p;):D

I did use google search jonathanmsims. The only one I was able to pull up was one that morphed from red to blue. i don't want that. I want all blue.....lol. And all blue for the new .595 if possible. Hey Bouchigo, do you think you could work on that for me?

I'd like to have the droid x bootscreen we have for this .595 but all blue. I'll buy ya a case of whatever you're drinking for it......lol

EDIT: Oh, and THANK YOU for the theme. I was going nuts without it.

I was about to post and ask since when does a bootanimation.zip go in /data/local lol

another question, how to clean /data/local up since root explorer cant make that dir rw?

bootanimation.zip should go in system/media

the audio file should go in system/media/audio

only time I have seen em go in data/local is when a app installs em and they usually add another file to correct the path so it works.

I will work on making a zip that does it how I am use to n my file systems has it.

You can put it in data/local or system/media.

Files in data/local are read before files in system/media.

There's no rule that says bootanimation "should" go in system/media.

You should be able to get into data/local and delete it through root explorer with no issue.

It's done like this so you can get your old animation back by simply deleting bootanimation in data/local.

ah ok thx for the info, I stand corrected. Yes I think RE was just having issues, its working fine now. But I still cant get the bootanimation n sound too work and its in both places n set to rwr--r.

You need to put sound in the "notifications" folder in GB, otherwise it will not work.

system/media/audio/notifications

yea it was there alreay from trying the zip. I had to replace the bootanimation file in system/bin like u had posted earlier.

Knew I should have done it manually lol

works great now with sound.

Yeah... go with the manual on with no sound... this thread is very old (last post before these were from May)... so I haven't updated it in a while... but the manual one should work.

I got no problem nav'ing this file where it should belong, or applying the zip but could anyone shed some light on how to apply it to the theme modification in miui? I've placed it where you pic your boot animation but it doesn't boot with the OP's example, I extract it but none of the files look to be what the other select-able files are. Is this possible when you have a ROM that you can select internally which graphic/audio to use on boot? or is the framework completely different, like an override would need to be in order?

TIA! nice work btw, I dig it!

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I'm hoping someone can give me a few pointers.

I have a bootanimation.zip and a .mp3 that I'm trying to get to work together. The boot animation works without a problem but there is no sound. Here's what I've done.

1) I put the bootanimation in system/media and named it correctly (after renaming the current one with the .bak extension).

2) I put the sound file in system/media/audio/notifications. All the other files in the notifications folder are .ogg, but I'm under the impression an .mp3 will work with a bootanimation. After testing, the boot animation worked but the sound didn't so I set the .mp3 permissions, owner and group to match the other audio files in that folder (permissions = rw-r--r-- group = 0 - root owner = 0-root).

3) The sound still didn't work so I tried putting the 's' line in the desc.txt below the 'p' line. Still no dice.

I've attached the files I'm using. Could someone verify that they work on your DX and also list the permissions, owner and group you used for each?

Boot animation - http://db.tt/23anQy93
Sound - http://db.tt/ZlPqMGMz

NOTE: I left yankeeshr.mp3 named as-is because that's how I have the desc.txt set up. Also, system-wide volume was enabled for all testing.
