Accessories Car Dock Discussion Thread

I have bought two of the Arson 421-micro and they work great even with the case installed on the phone (I use the Body Glove case and my wife uses the Verizon hard plastic case).

FYI, the coupon code "woot" still works for wiredforless.com and the Soundgate M2.

$5 + shipping.

Sweet, this coupon code still works if anyone is interested! I just bought 2 M2's (for my fiance and I) and a pack of 2 extra disks. With shipping the whole order was $19.93.

Now I just need to buy a cheap silicone case off E-Bay to put the disks on so I don't have to put it on my actual phone or case and I will be all set!

I just bought the fat Seido battery - my existing RAM mount is too thin to hold the phone now. I see two possible options for me to go - the RAM-HOL-UN1U universal holder, or the proclip holder.

Does anyone have either of these?

My concern about the RAM-HOL-UN1U is the power plug may conflict with the side grips. Can someone tell me if they use this one succesfully?

My concern about the proclip is that the holder may be too shallow to hold the phone with the extended battery. Can someone tell me how much clearance there is from the back face of the phone to the face of the proclip?

So thinkgeek is out of the Tetrax X-Way. Anywhere else to order these besides directly from Tetrax? Really liking the design of the Tetrax.

Those of you using the M2 mount by Soundgate... are you able to use it in Landscape and normal mode with the same mounting circle?

Any pictures showing it in both would be awesome! :)

i really want the tetrax x-way but at the moment, $5 for the soundgate M2 seems way too hard to ignore and pass up!!! But, I have a question for those that own it. When not in use, does it fold back completely onto itself (clam-shell like), so that it's somewhat flat? Or does it stay standing up, like in most of the pictures?

it does fold down onto itself when not in use. i had problems getting it just right to stay up and then easily retract (you have to use the included tool to tighten/loosen the connection). my problem was that i could not get the disk to stay stuck to my device. i followed the directions to the letter, tried both disks, it just did not work for me. and i hated sticking it to the dash. i got the terra x way and i LOVE it. it's perfect, it stays where you put it (so long as you follow the directions about how to take your device off the mount), it's tiny, and it makes it look like your phone is floating in space while you drive. holds the phone very well, and i drive like a maniac. also, though some people dislike the disk on the back of the phone, i personally love it, because when i set my phone down now, it angles up on the table, so i can easily see the screen. could not love the xway more. did not like the m2 soundgate. wouldn't buy another even for $5.

and the x way comes with 2 regular disks for the phone, plus i think two other disks that i think are for a larger device? they are smaller, little dots. i feel like there is one other, but i can't remember off hand what it looks like. but there are definitely two disks for the phone. i had zero problem getting it to stick to my verizon gel case.

Ok you're really not helping me talk myself out of the $35 and going for the $5!!! :p

Well I don't want to put any dot, magnet or anything on my INC..I keep her naked, but am going to buy a gel case and remove it and put it on when in the car, which will solve that issue. Good to know it works on the gel case, as I don't want to invest on a more expensive case, only to throw a sticker on it. And yes, you and me both, i don't like sticking ANYTHING to my car so the x-way is the way I would love to go! :o Good to know it actually holds the phone when in motion. The cheaper tetrax (just the magnet portion of it) cost $15. I wonder if that does the job or if the "x" portion is necassary??

Quick question, how many discs does the Tetrax x-way come with?
It comes with four disks:
1 small disk (smaller than a dime)
1 medium disk (~dime sized)
1 large disk (little smaller than a quarter)
1 large disk with thick adhesive...probably best for things with non-flat surfaces

Which one works better with the INC?

Any new docks people have purchased, second thoughts on docks that have bought?

the verizon mount SUCKS. the holster attaches to the arm with a little plastic clip that breaks off VERY EASILY. i literally just went to put the phone in and it broke off. i bought it on release day but took forever to install it - only used it for about two weeks. oh, and the adhesive disk falls off the windshield all the time too.

verizon screwed up with this as far as i'm concerned.

New Car Mount Holder For HTC Droid Incredible Verizon - eBay (item 380247688478 end time Jul-08-10 14:39:42 PDT)

Just bought this for $4.99 (free shipping). Have yet to use it, but it does fit with power cord connected and does not obstruct any buttons. It turns for use in landscape, and has air vent clips (although I have no idea if they work as I just installed on windshield). The suctions seems very good. The neck is very solid but I am guessing it will bounce a bit while driving.

If you need an inexpensive solution, I am guessing this will work well. I will update as I drive with it.

I've been holding out on posting this, but this is a droid dock I built with built-in usb power/data connector, and magnetic dock activation for my 81' Porsche 911. I can post some construction photo's if anybody wants them. The Droid slides down onto the usb jack and the dock is plugged into a usb cable routed behind the dash from the stereo. The stereo does pretty good with hot switching between calls mp3, and navigation w/bluetooth. At least I don't get hands free tickets, but the speeders, well... too bad the droid won't do radar detector yet.

Where's the best and cheapest place to get the xway? I know they're website, but is there any other, LEGITIMATE place?

I ordered my XWAY from THINKGEEK, which I understand is out of it. I also ordered directly from TETRAX and it came very quick, but with no discount.
