Root Clockwork Mod Recovery

oh no offense taken :)

this is the first time ive ever mucked with an lg device, so im hoping someone who has a lot more expertise (playfulgod wtf man, youve been on deck for a couple of weeks now... :P ) can jump in and help. the data backing up is still a very real bug, and i apologize that i cant fix it.

as for teh cwm bootlooping its fixed by having stock recovery, and by the fact that it happens on a few other lg phones.. then im gunna have to guess that doing a hard reset via those buttons sets it into a scan mode where it detects an altered recovery and fails to boot further, thus causing a cwm bootloop. again nothing i can do about this and if better devs than i have had this issue on othe rlg devices and it never got fixed then im inclined that this is a security feature by lg.... cant prove it but thats what my money is on at least :/

luckily i do have the "CWM de-looper" zip. simply load it onto your sdcard and flash it in cwm, it will flash the stock recovery for ya and tada! you will boot normally :) a hassle, yea but butter than having to run to me to fix it everytime ;)

what i said still stands IMO, there was a lot of people coming to the irc channel looking for help on how to fix it, and so many of them would even mention that they saw other people with this issue... stuff like that gets old after the 5th-6th person ;P

anyways i actually came in here hoping i could find a possible beta tester for somethin snazzy :)

What you got in mind? I've offered to send my phone to a developer if they actually want a device in hand to work on.

well it doesnt boot yet and the color scale is off :/

some of you might recognize it as TWRP ;)

I read a little bit (VERY little - I'm at work right now but I emailed myself some links), it's basically another version of a recovery option, right? Instead of using CWM we'd use this? Interesting. I'll give it a shot if you need a tester...

yea, word i got from dees_troy is he hasnt added in lg stuff, so basically teh only way its gunna happen is if he gets one sent to him for him to fix it and then he sends it back :/

So do you think he might be able to use mine? I have an old phone I can activate for awhile, it's not a big deal for me. I would just eventually need this back (I would cover shipping costs).

i emailed him a link to your post :)

dees is a very professional good guy, it might take a bit only because this would be the very first lg phone to have TWRP.

which you can see here is that its mostly samsung and htc, and even the samsung phones are limited to the nexus devices

Thanks Shabby!

Thanks everyone, and in the IRC chat too. Thank you guys! Can't wait for future developments and exploit the potential for this phone.

I am working on the data getting wiped when using the button combo now, doing what I told you to do shabby ;)

What exactly is the data backup issue? Once I converted your .bat to a .sh and got cwm installed it backed up everything fine for me.

received it yesterday and working on stuff now ;)

PlayfulGod, can you please put your cwm link with the .sh instead of .bat, no offense to shabby but i am having so much trouble trying to make a backup/

Hey all, I've never done a CWM recovery on my own so I'm pretty new at this. But I'm trying to install CWM and I ran into an issue. I downloaded the zip and extracted and connected my phone as an internet connection w/usb debugging and ran the .bat file and it says this:

press any key to continue
*daemon not running. starting it now*
*daemon started successfully*

And it just kinda sits there. I left it like this for 20 minutes and nothing's happened. Did I miss a step? Or is something wrong? Sorry if I sound dumb, but I'm pretty confused lol.

Thanks for your help guys!

Did you install the lg drivers to your computer?

No I hadn't :P finally got CWM installed. Thanks!
Now I'm having another problem. I installed CWM, and then rebooted in recovery mode through ROM Manager just as was stated in the thread. I wiped the cache and tried to backup the phone but it got stuck like 1/4 through Backing up data. Not in a bootloop or anything, so I just pulled out the battery and tried the same process over. Same thing happened in the same place. And the third time I tried it it got stuck during the system backup. So I just gave up :P I read the whole thread and I'm still confused. Anyone else have this problem exactly?

Yes everyone lmfao, it just freezes up in different spots for everyone. You're gonna need to do just that over and over until it finally goes through unfortunately. Just make sure that when you're navigating through CWM use only the soft keys (menu = down home = up, back = go back, search= select) and make sure you delete all previous backup files (sd card/clockworkrecovery/backup) before you attempt to make a backup in CWM. What I do is before I make a new nandroid I move the previous one to a different folder on my sd. Keep at it using that method and it'll go through eventually, and enjoy!

Using the volume buttons to navigate up and down, and using power button to select, works perfectly fine also
