CM 10.1 - Jellybean 4.2.2

The nightlies for CM 10.1 from TeamChopsticks are now Jellybean 4.2.2. Tethering and wifi hotspot work.

Its very smooth. I like it. :) To download the latest nightly go to this page. If you are installing for the first time or doing a clean install, you also need to install this gapps (google apps), 20130301.

The 0411 nightly also has an M build version. cm-10.1-20130411-EXPERIMENTAL-hercules-M3.zip

What is an M build? Here is a quote from CyanogenMod:

With CM10 we started doing “M-Series” builds every month. These builds are intended to be mostly stable and ready for everyday use.
There have been problems with the latest builds and no sound in phone calls. If you experience this, you can try a clean install or try the Cerux kernel. That fixed it for me. *edit* It looks like calling problems are fixed since the 0319 build.

I gotta say that I have flashed 4 or 5 in the past couple days, and have came back to this one (though I have been using the Feb 15th nightly. This thing is just what I was looking for from a ROM. Don't get me wrong though, the others have great ROMs as well. Its just that for me, it has what I want, how I want it.
I might try out that All Star Dev kernel though. I forgot abut my fast charge.

Yeah I'm loving this ROM. I'm on the 17th nightly. I tried AOKP but I don't like it near as much. I think CM 10.1 will be my daily ROM for a while.

Is it just me or is battery life quite a bit worse in 4.2.2? I use to be able to get at least 10 hours of standby time but now like 7 or so. After a day of work where I looked at my phone only once or twice my phone was in the red at the end of my 9 hour shift.

That seems kind of strange to me but anyway I will try Juice defender while at work and see how that works while it is on standby! I have to ultimate version and I will report on my findings later!

My battery is around normal or maybe slightly better. I haven't paid a lot of attention to it until you mentioned it. I've been on battery about 3 hours now and still have 96% left. So about 2% an hour which seems pretty good to me.

No wait, my fuzzy math. :D A little over 1% an hour which is great. Usually after 8 hours at work I'll have about 76% left when I get home.

WiFi hotspot is now working in the 20130219 nightly!
Any problem with gps?
I tried 3 different nightlys, 16th and prior, right now I went back to 10.0 stable but I can not get gps to even work.
stock rom it works.
The issue I have is google maps it just says waiting for gps never gets it.
other apps that need gps say gps is not on.
telnav gives me a location that is within a mile of accurate but still says waiting on gps.

Thanks, I think this phone may have a problem with its gps, I couldnt get it working, so I went back to the backed up stock and no gps there as well.

Yes this is a custom ROM and you need to be rooted to install it.

Thanks! I am starting to think it may be more advantageous to root my Galaxy S2... just worry I would open a can of worms... I'm slightly technologically knowledgeable... and that's being generous...

Can you point me to a good thread (guide) of what to avoid if I do decide to root?

Thanks!

You can follow this guide. http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-t-mobile-all-things-root/627099-guide-root-rom-sgh-t989.html

What version of Android are you using? If Gingerbread, there are a couple of slight changes in the rooting process.

That guide should work fine for you then. :)

Hey atmazzz have a noob question if you dont mind answering(just used your sticky guide to root my phone, thanks!)

i also currently have 4.0.4 do i need to flash a jelly bean kernel before i try to put these new nightlies on? i see in the cm install instructions they keep warning about flashing other kernels so i'm not sure which one i should have.

Welcome to the forums flowington :hello: Glad the guide worked OK for you.:)

No, you don't have to flash another kernel. I'm still using the stock kernel. The other kernels mainly allow overclocking which is cool and all but also is a battery drain. This ROM is so great on battery I don't need the extra MHz enough to screw it up.

Two things I don't like about this ROM (so far). One, T-Mobile tv doesn't work on this.
And two, nobody can understand me during phone calls unless I yell.
There is no noise supression setting or anything like it that I can find. It's bad enough to revert back to ICS I guess.
I'm bummed because I otherwise like it.
