CM 10.1 - Jellybean 4.2.2

You're welcome. :)

Yeah on all the jellybean ROM, even stock, you have to got to settings, about phone or device, and tap on the 'Build Number' 7 times and then Developer Options will show up so you can set USB debugging.

Cheers, that worked perfectly.

On a side note maybe you could answer something for me. Im going to post this in the main board but just in case you know already.

The reason I needed to do the clean wipe and update was because my phone kept using huge amounts a data, like 100mb in a span of 5 minutes, every couple days. I installed My Data Monitor and it lists the usage as "Streaming Media" which after checking the MDM website it lists as that if it does not know what app is using the data. It seems to have these spikes at different times of the day and if Im lucky it happens when Im on Wifi not my 4g. But last month I went way over on my plan and thats why I did a full wipe to hopefully get rid of the offending program/app/virus.

Well it happened again and I have installed only a couple of my apps back since my new flash. Im really frustrated since it seems like Im screwed.

The only problem I'm having with CM 10.1, is that my wireless networking sucks. If I'm on T-Mobile's network (3G/4G/etc), about half the time my network says DC or E, and it's really slow. On CM10.0 (and other 4.1.2 based roms), I'm always on 3G or H+. Any ideas about this?

I have actually noticed this myself since flashing. Though I have not tried 10.0 yet to see if there is a difference.

Cheers,
T

I haven't ran CM 10.1 in a while, but the release candidate is supposedly the most stable. You could install it, make a backup in recovery and try newer nightlies and if they have a problem just restore your backup. After you install jellybean and root it, be sure to make a backup in recovery of that. Its always good to have so you can restore it if you have problems with CM 10.1.

Now that Im running the RC of 10.1 can I just flash the nightlies without wiping all my data? How do I go about using Nightlies?

Cheers,
T

When you flash a nightly you only need to wipe cache and dalvik.

You can also look in settings, I can't remember where exactly, you can have your phone check for updates. If one shows up you can tap that to download it. It will install and wipe for you.

Yep, should say stable right there at the top. Just came outa couple days ago, I'm loving it so far

Ok, I installed it a few day ago. It is pretty stable and I like it. Only issue I have is once in a while when I try to change a ring tone the settings app crashes.

I won't lie though, my goal is installing a 4.2.2 version of Jedi Mind Trick, IF I can isolate that damned issue I am having with Hardware information showing on the home screen all the damn time...

What do you like about Jedi Mind Trick that makes you want it? CM10.1 was the first flash Ive done so I would be interested in pursuing others and seeing what they are like.

JMT would be a good one for you to experiment with to see if you prefer a great working touchwiz based ROM with wifi calling, or to see if you prefer more stock android like CM.
Before I flashed my first ROM, I assumed I would like stock better, but JMT works so well, and is fast, fluid, and stable with some cool added features that I have stuck with it. I have been on builds 4, 5 and now 6 of it without changing.

The nightlies for CM 10.1 from TeamChopsticks are now Jellybean 4.2.2. Tethering and wifi hotspot work.

Its very smooth. I like it. :) To download the latest nightly go to this page. If you are installing for the first time or doing a clean install, you also need to install this gapps (google apps), 20130301.

Boy do I feel dumb. I've flashed so many things I'm forgetting the basics.

I bricked my phone, took it to T-Mobile where a friend of mine there got it going for me.
It's still rooted, but I 'm way back on Gingerbread now.
Do I need to go through ICS to get back to Jellybean?
Could someone post a step by step to get to JB for me?
Thank you.

Hey sleedeane. You can just use that guide to Odin straight to jellybean. Then you'll have to reroot which is pretty easy with jelly bean. Check the how to root sticky at the top of the page. :)

No joy. Can somebody please explain to me exactly how/where I put a sub-folder with Odin and the ROM in it? Once I download them, they go to two different places and I think they need to be in the same folder.
I can't get the JB ROM to show up in Odin.

Does my question make any sense?
Thank you

Are you talking about the stock JB ROM? It doesn't have to be in the same folder. Are you unzipping, extracting, the ROM file? You need to extract the tar file and then it will show up in Odin.

Yeah... the stock one.
I got the tar file to show up in Odin but I get "fail" because it "can't open the serial (COM) port".
What now?
Thank you

Make sure you have samsung usb drivers installed. Install samsung kies if you don't and it will install the latest drivers.

Reboot your computer and phone. Try another usb cable if you have one or a different port.

Is usb debugging checked on the phone?

I am new to the T-Mobile GS2. Just got it yesterday..Rooted and put the CyanogenMod nightly on it.. Love it.Love the stock look running 4.2.2

I've been using CM 10.1 for a bit more than a month now, but I'm getting really lousy battery life out of it. With the screen turned off and not touching the phone at all, I'm losing about 7%/hour (sometimes more) on the battery, giving me a useful life on the phone of maybe 7-8 hours. Charging my phone on the go during the day isn't usually a problem, but there are times where it isn't possible and I'm left with a dead battery partway through the day. Some reading around the web says that a "full wipe" should be done before flashing a ROM (I don't think mine was a "full wipe" as my apps were still present on the phone after flashing CM), others suggest using a different kernel to get better battery life, as well as a number of other suggestions. Can anyone point me in a clear direction? I've tried using a few battery stat apps to determine what the problem might be, but nothing's gotten particularly clearer.

Wakelock detector tells me my phone is not entering deep sleep at all.

GSam battery monitor identifies the kernel to be keeping the phone awake, but also says the kernel is only using 4.9% of my battery, and that the phone being kept awake accounts for 3.5% of my battery use. Those numbers don't seem to add up to enough to make the difference I'm experiencing, but maybe it's a start?

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy T989. I'm running CM version 10.1.2, I think it's the stable version, dated July 11 18:31:57 PDT 2013.

Kernel information shows 3.0.72-cyanogenmod-gee78511
build01@cyanogenmod #1
